Taking advantage of a layover in Washington DC with a bike ride while waiting for the train to Cleveland, OH. From there, embarking on a bike tour along the Ohio to Erie Canal Trail, cycling 326 miles across Ohio from Cleveland to Cincinnati in 6 days.

Thomas. Great video. The body of water in front of the Jefferson Memorial is the Tidal Basin. At certain times of the week, professional bikers do fast loops around Haines Point, so I am told. I grew up in McLean Va, just outside DC. The Northern Va. bike trails are fabulous. Saw this video from my vacation house in Inverness, Fla. ...after doing some miles on the Withlacoochee. Keep up the great videos, I have learned much about bike touring, birding, and Amtrak.

Nice to see the sights around DC. It has been a few decades since we have been there. Looks like they have some nice trails to access the area. Nice layover! Have a great day.

Hope you get to visit it again, there's lot to see. All the museums are free to visit and a lot more. I like to ride the trails when waiting for my next train up north. Thanks for following along. 👍

Thanks for all the awesome videos. Please do a video with detailed info on taking your bike on the train. Your tips and tricks would be appreciated. How do you get all your bags from the bike to the train?

Yes I need to do the bike and Amtrak video sometime. The bike goes to the baggage car and I take the saddle bag and handlebar bag with me into coach car.
