I remember camping at Priest Lake Idaho a few times, but once, it never got below 85 degrees all night long...it was literally impossible to get any sleep! Just when we decided to go back to Spokane, one of the greatest thunderstorms put a show on, and cooled it down a little. It rained for the next two days. One of my fondest memories of the 4 years we spent in Spokane ; newlyweds and 1000 miles away from all family members and high school friends....pretty much why it lasted almost 30 years! But, nothing is forevermore anymore...

I live in the very little tip of Minnesota, that is on the north shore of Lake Superior, about a half an hour from Canada. It is the only highway that runs from Duluth to Canada, It is some of the most beautiful and scenic places in the lower forty eight, and, gets large amounts of tourists. Fishermen with boats, motorhomes, and trailers, and, in winter skiers. There are only two areas with passing lanes on the whole highway. I agree with tourists, they have all the time in the world, unlike the locals who are going to appointments, or work, ect. They poke along, and, when you come to the passing lanes, and, want to pass them, they stomp on the gas, and, it is a mile long race to get past them. They just do not drive an even speed. I could live with that, and, just adjust, it is the constant up and down that drives me crazy. Unfortunately it is the price some of us pay to live in a unique area, still better than city freeways.

Hi Mike: Just now came across this video, glad I did. Interesting country, beautiful scenery. The fish was perfect size for eating, 8 to 12 inches, over 12 they seem to get mushy not firm like the smaller ones. You lucky to be able to pull over and cast a few. Enjoyed , thank you see you next time. Edward

#111 Good morning, Mike. Its too bad that such beautiful country has to be driven threw faster than one can enjoy! Those of us on vacation like to take it easier and see the scenery. But those like yourself that haul freight for a living and have traveled these highways many times just want to get from point A to point B quickly, and have no tolerance for slow pokes. I will try to stay out of your way, but at 72 years old, this may be my first time on this stretch of highway.

Mike, if your schedule ever allows it, you can take a BEAUTIFUL 15 mile bike ride on "The Route of the Hiawatha" bike trail at the MT/ID border. You check in at the Lookout Pass Ski Area (Exit 0). If you don't have a bike and a helmet, you can rent them there. You then get back on I 90 and take the first MT exit to the trail head. The ride is very gently down hill so you don't even have to peddle the bike. They will pick you and your bike up at the bottom and put you on a shuttle bus back up to the top unless you want to ride back to the top. If you are not in a hurry you can stop at the kiosks and read about the history of the Milwaukee Road RR. You will be riding on the old RR bed. There are trestles and tunnels that make the trip even more fun.

Beautiful and a great ride down memory lane. I'm from RI and the last (and only) time I drove through there was around '92 or '93. I could have sworn you had to get off the freeway at Wallace, drive through town, then get back on just as the road was going up that hill. I could be wrong, and I guess they DO make some progress in almost 30 years to the Interstate. But beautiful area and thanks for the ride.

Driving laws in Canada depend where you are, same as the states. I have driven in most of them and you are allowed to change lanes in a curve in all the provinces I have been in. I was through Coeur d'Alene in 2017 on our bike trip and we took that exit 22 and followed the lake south on 97. After the lake we hooked back up with 95 all the way to Ontario and then S/W into Northern California.
