Yep, move the fuel tank away from the heater. You can also make a safety for these pretty easily. You figure what the max height you ever want the oil to get in the burner pan and add in a small hole and drain pipe at that height. The drain you run down out the bottom of the stove where it is cooler, and run it to a fitting that will accept the oil level/low oil level sensor from a small engine. This sensor can be used to control a fuel cutoff valve or an alarm system if the oil ever gets to this high point in the pan and flows down to activate that sensor...
since pre-heating is becoming more and more common with these homemade builds, many people are experimenting with using diesel injectors to meter fuel (which should work is oil is hot/thin enough). If I ever get around to it, I've been meaning to try it using an old tractor mechanical pump (since I use a belt driven air blower anyways). Just a matter of figuring out the right gear ratios/motor speed to run consistently
This is really cool. Thanks for sharing! I know this video is old but hopefully you get thus message. Was wondering what you heat with it since it’s outside.
Water seeks its own level oil should seek its own level if you place a sealed vessel full of oil on the outside and run a u valve in the bottom to a specific level and then run your hose into the u-valve on the outside with a sealed vessel of oil it should consistently stay at the same height regardless of the viscous of the oil
Cooking it well, had mine do similar things but wasn't glowing red ;) 😉 it did turn blue though so 1200f maybe. :o 😱 Take a look at small video on my page.
