With only 43 kilometers on the clock, this truck has basically driven from the Isuzu factory to today's job. This brand new, 2022 ISUZU F SERIES has not been on the road for long and is one of the newest trucks in WasteCo's fleet.
Filmed on location while working in Christchurch, this gantry truck (aka skip bin truck) was requested at very short notice, 6pm on a Friday night, to uplift the skip bins seen in the video. The first of two bins were uplifted at 7:10pm.
Having not previously done any videos of gantry trucks, I jumped at the opportunity to gab this video especially with a new truck to show off.
Skip bins like these in the clip are commonly used around New Zealand (and some other countries) for short term rentals for both commercial, business and residential customers. The bins being uplifted today are known as 9m (9 cubic meter) bin, the largest before customers need to look at roll-off/hook lift options. Skip bins come in a variety of sizes with common sizes being 3m, 7.5m and the big 9m bins.
A big shout out to WasteCo who arranged for these bins to be uplifted at short notice. The company was called a little after 6pm on a Friday night and they were able to organise this with the first truck arriving only an hour later at 7:10pm.
Also a big thank you to the cheerful driver for letting me film the uplift. Despite working late, he had great spring in his step!
WasteCo is a 100% New Zealand owned business, a company that I was previously unfamiliar with due to them not operating around my home town. So when I got home I had to look up their website and was amazed at what they actually do; they seem to have all waste solutions sorted through their company.

They sure do! We don't have WasteCo up in the north island where I am so this was a great opportunity. I occasionally see similar trucks for different companies in my town and wonder if I should maybe film them too for my channel. Thanks for commenting!

Always like seeing other peoples video from down here in Christchurch, fun spotting places I recognise! WasteCo seem to be a pretty big company in the making; I know they handle the domestic contract in the Clutha District, Street Sweeping here in CHCH and have a fairly substantial commercial presence around multiple cities! Manage to catch anything else in Christchurch while you were here?

Thanks for the comments! Well maybe you will recognise the location where this was filmed, nice new store to check out ;-P . I didn't get any any other videos but did see a few trucks on my way to work, some side loaders emptying residential bins. I passed by the mall compactor a few times which was right next door and spotted it being carted off on Friday morning. I also saw a couple of times a Waste Management rear loader which emptied two large bins for the business across the street. If I knew it came that frequently I would try and have filmed it too, but I was spotting it at all sorts of different times which didn't help me set something up. Maybe if I ever get back down there we could do a filming. I do have a question for you about some small bins with handles that were inside the building I was working in; maybe 45L? There was one with a red lid and one with a green lid. Almost like food waste bins. I asked the locals about them but no one knew anything about them and never seen them before. Do you know anything? Could be a nice replacement for my town which uses plastic bags, mind you the emptying would be a little more time consuming than just throwing a bag into the truck.

@@NZRubbishTrucks I reckon those 45L bins would likely be emptied into the larger bins you also spoke about. I think uni has a similar system when smaller bins are used to save space/keep everything a little more clean. Would definitely be keen to see some Christchurch footage from you in future!
