The art is really good. In the next episode, I would make the background music a little quieter and the talking a little louder. At times it was a little too overwhelming to really understand what they were saying. I think I'm a bit older than the Target audience, but, the dialog and stuff itself otherwise sounds good.
What is this Why is it on my recommended This does not deserve to be on my recommended, it's too beautiful. Thank you RU-vid for recommending something actually GOOD FOR ONCE
@@dusted_raven my question is how did we die nuclear war everything is hell global warming hell without the radiation and dying off would take longer, virus we would probably see evidence of this in medical tents and stuff and even then the government probably survived
It's better than the Watership Down Netflix Series. This channel got the wolves more accurately compared to that series. They didn't even know what a rabbit looked like.
You have the the people who just got here through youtube's obscure algorithm, the OGs, and then you have people like me who've stayed since the classic "incredibly realistic wolf animation"
Fun fact: ravens and wolves have a really mutual relationship in the wild. Ravens fly and spot lone animals, wolves kill the animal, and the two share the meal. They're found to respect each other and even playful around each other!
It has been so great working on Wasteland, and I'm looking forward to composing even more music for the soundtrack and bringing life to the audio for the next episodes to follow! It feels amazing to finally see chapter one public and for everyone to see!
@@edwardsmusicI love what I see so far hope we see another episode soon, also I got to past with the name of the series “Wasteland” + the abandoned neighborhood, is this post apocalyptic world?
I still remember seeing your "Incredibly Realistic Wolf Animation" years back during my wolf phase growing up. Congrats on episode one. It looks great!
I’ve been in the Discord server since the first few weeks it was announced. Congratulations on finally being able to get this project out. A lot of time and effort went into this and it seems it was definitely worth the wait. I wish you the best of luck for the future of this project!
*Rant Incoming:* I feel like it’s possible Ace (or the other kit) will leave the den due to anger problems or whatever because of how much they have to move. The other sibling will chase after them. Then, the parents will discover their children gone and will start searching. I know one of those wolves will die. Well, I’m feeling 98% sure on that, anyways. At first I figured that one of the parents would die (maybe the mother, since Morty seems less close to the pups due to his constant need to move). But upon seeing the pups, I think that’s gonna change. My final answer is that either a pup will die or the mother will die. Morty will definitely have to overcome his need to find the perfect home or they will eventually find it. Either way, his conflict with himself and his family seems way too important to kill off early, so it’s got to fester. The pups will blame him if the other parent dies and will tear the family apart so they can learn to cooperate and heal.
I actually feel like the mom will die Most stories have to kill off parents for the storyline to make sense, and since we've already given emotions and clear motive to the mom it makes the most sense for her to die
@@can0cringe KIT? You seriously called a wolf pup "kit"? They're not cats. How would you feel if I called a baby cat (which is what kit means btw) an elk calf?
Hello! Ace’s va. We had a small editing error with my lines, as I had to film in my college dorm and without any form of foam. Can guarantee itll sound much better in the future; it better, I’m playing two characters! Glad you enjoy the show 😄
Oh... my... *gosh...* ITS HERE This is phenomenal, I can’t even handle this I almost screamed when I saw the notif! (Also when I saw Ace my heart exploded with glee and laughter)
@@christiling4104 *CHRISTI?* W O A H I’m everywhere, that how you found me. What are the odds I was randomly recommended this without even knowing what it was? I don’t care, I’m just glad it was, this was amazing and so beautiful!!
This is phenomenal. I am SO GLAD that this showed up on my recommendation. I am in love with how good this is, you did a STUNNING job and I can't wait to see more of it
This is literally the best wolf animation I've ever seen! Seriously, that had to have taken FOREVER to make! You are truly amazing! Can't wait to see more!
"you really think Ace would share anything he finds?" "I suppose not" Me- oh dang, with a name like Ace, he sounds like a cold greed alpha who demands first pick of all their food Ace arrives on scene and is a lovable chonky boi Me- 👁️👄👁️
Yeah, wolves don't have alphas. The label "alpha" reinforces an unrealistic, self-destructive hierarchy view of wolves that doesn't occur in the wild. They do have a mating pair that takes care of the pack cause, y'know, they're the parents, but there are no ranks. Even then, I don't think an abusive mating pair would be able to exist or have a pack in the first place, as all their children would leave upon growing up instead of staying.
This is gorgeous! Love the fur and ear animations, so life like and this is a pretty unique way to animate the mouths, makes it seem more believable than most talking animal stories.
This DESERVES more attention. This needs to trend. This is apsolotly amazing. The time and effort and all the time I can clearly seen was spent in after effects. This is truly amazing
Everybody here is jumping up and down about how long they waited, I just got here. My recommendations brought me. And as a person that loves animation, hey the algorithm finally did something right! So HI!
@@SamsungS23Ultr That's a good point! Those shows do tend to have more resources (i.e, people, money), though, so it's still very impressive that this is so high quality :)

Take your time I know how hard animation can be & the software can be tedious. I can’t wait to see chapter two and more to come. 🤩🤪🤩🤪🤩🤪 I LOVE it keep it up!
just randomly stumbled upon this, and it actually looks really promising! The scene at the beginning, which has a bit of a real life kind of situation (as far as a family having to move constantly and what that does to them all), made me relate to the characters a little, and seeing the parents (I assume they're together) having that talk made me feel for them. Fantastic writing! Waiting for more!
It takes so much time and energy to create animation movies. Respect. This is very motivating, and after a few years you finally managed to release your first chapter. Thank you, and please don't stop this :)
@@SSquidFishh0 ye, I went back to listen to her again and I def heard "Hover" right there lol. It feels so good to know they're getting the recognition they deserve
Me after seeing wolf's rain: *crying a lot... hurt* Me after school: without energy RU-vid recommends: every time go craz- *wait... wolves...* Me: Happy and energetic seeing this! Finaly I may say... THANK RU-vid RECOMMENDATIONS!
@@cloudypaws219 and I saw it a few days ago (a month ago)... too young, too stupid is me x') From this time, wolf's rain is one of the most favourited animes so far as the Miyazaki films are... I'm glad to see a wolf's rain fan here under this amazing animation
The scenery and animation is amazing! My only gripe is that the voices are a bit quiet at times and the camera angles are very stale and boring. Some more dynamic angles, moving an panning would bring the scenes more to life and make it feel less like a dialogue dump and more lively Regardless I'm excited to see more!
Earlier I was watching a reddit compilation about the smoothest come backs and roasts, and even though Calamus wasn’t in the compilation, he’d take the cake 100 percent 😂😂
The visuals were the best part about this for a small team imo. I'm really not a fan of the characters and dialogue so far, though. The characters were very... tropey; you've got the boring, weeping little house wife and the also boring, stoic husband, the "funny" slapstick guy, and couldn't forget to add the posh British guy for extra measure. I also think the crow scene could have been shortened. I wouldn't expect real in-depth characters in under 10 minutes, but not a big fan of them so far. Making films is hard though, and nobody is perfect in their craft right off the bat. Improvement takes time. Most people wouldn't attempt this, so good on you!
@@MrFish-fl9qw I mentioned that it was under 10 minutes, but even considering that short time, these are not looking like good characters, in my opinion. I also touch on your second sentence in my last few sentences. The comment section is a sea of compliments (which they don't not deserve) but I also think it needed some criticism is all.
@@14104 I can understand and agree on some points , but for the short time we saw them, all the characters are enjoyable despite all being tropes. They did very well with the probable small budget and independent team. In my option the whole thing was rather enjoyable and I think the positivity this gained was well deserved. I’m not trying to say criticism isn’t needed, and you make valid points, I just personally think for what this is, this is phenomenal even with the underdeveloped characters. Not wanting any sort of argument, just my say. Also Happy Holidays! If you celebrate one and Happy Friday, if not.
@@MrFish-fl9qw Yeah I see where you're coming from, guess it just all comes down to opinions in the end :) I'm glad you and others enjoyed it, and I'm happy for the creators. The world could always use some more independent artists/writers doing things like this. Happy Holidays!
Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. No ill-will to the wonderful hard-working folks that put together a video of this high-quality animation, but the voice lines were very less-than-ideal for an introductory episode (at least from my point of view.) I feel as though a good chunk of the problem comes from the script itself, though, not the voice actors themselves. If I was reading the script without the animation and voice acting, I fear it would read like an amateur Wattpad fanfiction. Maybe it's because I'm not quite part of the targeted demographic (and someone whose taste has gotten pickier from scouring the internet for wolf-starring stories for almost six years) but I see a lot to be desired here. Even so! Wishing the team nothing but improvement down the road! Better a series with flaws than no series at all. :D
just wow. this animation is so darn pretty! it balances giving 'human' emotions to the wolves without making it seem too cartoony/unrealistic, as well as mixing in genuine wolf behaviors and it doesn't feel forced, amazzinggg!!
Hand this woman an award for amazing story telling. I was so captivated by this video i completely forgot about squeesh. There were more pros than cons of this BY A LONG SHOT. I will say the voice acting was awesome and the animation was pretty good. I can just smell the blood sweat and tears that went into this. WELL DONE BLOO!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! This was not what i had expected in the slightest. My favourite parts were: there has to be something somewhere, and the bird scene. I give this 9.99999999/10 because theres always more room for improvement. I cant wait to see how this channel grows! A ROUND OF APPLAUSE!!!! 👏
I'm not sure how I like the small pack and their interactions, they seemed a bit rush with the pacing being off. The beginning conversation feels out of place since we're just sorta dropped in with them having this immediately dramatic topic that feels like it would be happening after two episodes rather than within the first 5 minutes. Where have they been? Did they struggle to get there? Did they lose anyone along the way? A good story should make the audience ask questions but it feels like I'm asking them for the wrong reason. A minor nitpick is with the audio, where the dark wolf at the beginning is walking the audio for that has an animal walking faster than his model is, and with the humor scene. Having the semi goofy music throughout the scene before something goofy even happens is channeling some old knock off vhs movie vibes. The best time to have started that music was when "fat joke" wolf got stuck, rather than playing it through most of that scene. A minor animation nitpick is that the tree tops didn't sway with the breeze with the sound of moving trees in the audio. Didn't have to be anything big but just a little sway would have been good. The crow and dog scene had slightly better pacing and the conversation they were having was better placed since we had full context since it was self contained. Dialogue was still a little rushed in spots, but still better than with the wolves/dogs. Crow is a smiiidge too pretentious for his own good, but if that's character design, it's character design. It kinda feels like the pack is channeling homeward bound and I'd like to see where it goes to make me care for them, cause right out of the first episode? Don't really care because nothing has really happened to make me care. Crow and Dog? I very much care since how dire the situation is made very clear. Hell, seeing the city made me ask more questions. How long has it been abandoned? There's still viable food in opened trash cans so maybe 5 years? Where are the humans and how did they mess up? Is the whole world a wasteland or is it just one city that's been abandoned a la Centralia only without the literal burning hell under it? All in all? Still a really good starting place for what you have gotten done. Reading the comments and finding out this was a two year ordeal to make, and it definitely shows. The beginning is a bit ham fisted but it gets better towards the end, and that would make sense from it being drawn out due to technical difficulties. Work on pacing a bit more is all I really have to say, since it looks like it improved towards the end and I'm hoping it continues to get better in the coming parts.
I like the intro actually, we immediately get introduced to a problem and in later episodes we're going to see how they cope and interact with each other despite the current problems.
@@popscyclep8084 I believe in being thorough when it comes to giving a critique. No one gets better with everyone saying "OMG it's AMAZING!". There has been time, love, and care, put into this, but there are some spots that could be improved on that I thought they should know about moving forward.
About the music in the scene with Ace getting stuck - I disagree completely that the music is goofy in any way. It’s humorous in places, but mostly conveys Ace’s good heartedness and joy in life. It seems to me like what you’re criticizing simply doesn’t happen here - the fat joke with goofy music, and this is what you’re confused about. It’s challenging the very cliché you were expecting. As for why I decided to start the music when it did - I felt it was appropriate to introduce Ace’s character theme earlier to use it not only for him, but the overall mood of the moment. It serves not only his character in this case.
This just showed up in my recommended. This is so cool, I’m certainly hooked on where it’s going. I can tell there was an insane amount of effort put into it. Good luck with your series!
AW YEAH! WE DID IT BLOO! It was absolutely amazing seeing all the hard work of the musicians, voice actors, and especially you all come together into this amazing start to the series. I am seriously so proud of you all and I can't wait to see everything you are going to do as the series progresses
This is very aesthetically well done: the rendering and lighting is great. I just wish there were better characters and better character-establishing moments. We have a worried leader, an anxious mother, a pup, and a foolish comic relief? Really? I was really hoping for more intriguing characters, especially within the realm of wolf stories: these archetypes have been done to death. The raven is the only one that sticks out with his dialogue and motivation. Knowing what made things a wasteland really should've been your first storytelling hook, we're here for that and the wolves. I hope the next episode is more exciting and less bland. I know you worked hard on this but it surprises me how little investment I have in the characters and their relationships.
This is so amazing and I love the way the expressions are animated, that their readable yet still realistic. I can’t wait for the next chapter but it’ll take a while.. This is already better then a lot of movies out there and I already love the corvid bird (Calimus? Calamus?) Anyways this is so cool
Ok ok so your telling me that I could have been watching this instead of wolf animations that look like trolls. Becouse omg this is amazing keep it up I can’t wait for the rest your the best.
Oh my goodness this is absolutely STUNNING! The graphics and details are just MMM delish! And the story already makes me want to see more! Also that crow, omg, I'm in love, he's bootiful. I really hope we get more of this! It has SO much potential!
Everything about this is both professional and beautiful. The animation is BLOWING MY MIND, the voice acting is perfect, the editing is amazing...I legit don't understand how this isn't on Netflix or Hulu. I'm looking forward to future chapters, you defiantly deserve more recognition!
This is CRAZY good! Love the way the crow moves with the little jerks while he's talking, very....birdlike lol. This just popped up on my feed and was definitely worth watching, loved it!
Hey, it’s got a charming way of animation and being more scenic than in your face about it. It reminds me of Plague Dogs. Or just older animations in general, and I for one applaud it for going in that direction. It’s beautiful!
While I'm very supportive of the artist, I feel there were a lot of things that could have been improved in this first episode from animation smoothness, to pacing of the plot and dialog.... However, for me that bird made the whole episode totally worth it, and I'll be here for episode 2 to see more of him. Super happy for the artist, and hopeful that they'll succeed.
I am absolutely in awe of the character animations, that is some triple A acting! You combined the realistic wolf models so flawlessly with the very cartoon-like movements, it's jaw-dropping, really.
