I miss this. My brother and I raised five of them when I was ten years old. That was 53 years ago. I don’t find the eggs or caterpillars on the milkweed plants like we used to.
Years and years ago, my 5th grade class raised and eventually released a bunch of monarch butterflies. It was one of the most emotionally meaningful things I’ve ever done. The day we released them was one of the happiest days of my life.
Monarch a great example of pupation. Almost alien-like how it sheds it's skin, forms the pupa case, emerges as a butterfly on the other side. God's design majesty.
I literally had the pleasure of experiencing this with one monarch, and she walked all over my hands/arms and watched her dry out and get ready to go on her first flight. It was incredible❤
I used to keep cicadas as a kid and I loved watching and helping them to transmogrify - magic! And they left their little shell behind for me to play alien war games with a friend and brother. To have just one of those days over again I would let myself turn to 'goop' and pump veins til I was more than just aflight-risk, lol I would love to see that tutorial delivered where one creature can reorganise it's cellular construction (blindly of course) and express previously unexpressed genes and what was the DNA doing all the time? Just inspiring when you consider who could disrurb come upon them and disturb the process Km
@@ethanemerson4862 monarchs mostly feed on milkweed aka butterfly weed. It grows wild mostly in ditches used for irrigation run off. Some farmers have a penchant for spraying every "weed" with herbacides even though it is doing no harm.
In childhood I had taken care of cocoons and played with butterflies when they came out from it. I had experienced that❤ It's truly cute moment to feel the touch of butterfly. More , when you have taken care of it.❤❤
Moths and butterfly's are fascinatingly beautiful creatures. Having a small butterfly eat salt from my forearm sweat is a memory and sensation I'll never forget. Electric blue wings slowly closing to white, then a flash of blue, magical.
I love butterflies, I was at a butterfly exhibit employees examine you from head to toe when leaving the enclosure to check to see if there are any what they call "hitchhikers" on you, one time a woman was letting her young daughter run wild in the exhibit, she was chasing the butterflies while screaming, shrieking, yelling, shouting, squealing at the butterflies the woman was ignoring her, I reported them I don't know if all that activity from the child was traumatizing the butterflies perhaps it was
When I toured an immersive butterfly exhibit the staff would not allow that behavior to take place. They said butterflies enjoy peaceful environments and if they choose to land on you, they are truly comfortable with your energy. I had three that seated on me for an hour when I finally needed to leave the exhibit. Wonderful experience.
One day I was leaving work and all of a sudden there where thousands of Monarch's just flying by on their way to Mexico. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
It is makes me happy to be alive ,my daughter always say when she see. Butterfly something good is on it way and she's 50 yrs old now she has a butterfly garden of her own 😉
When I was in 2nd grade, we raised caterpillars into butterflies. On they day we released them, we went outside and opened the net. They went out but stuck around the kids. The last on flew out, up..... and then a bird came. Long story short the bid ate the butterfly and everyone cried that day. It was traumatizing for a 2nd grader😢
So beautiful... This video made me very emotional. I look at my life in the journey of the butterfly. 50 yrs old and finally feel free. Thanks for sharing 😘
I do this every summer I plant lots of milkweed (the only plant they can reproduce on) and I check the plants every day for babies then I bring them inside to my butterfly house and watch them grow and now my daughters and granddaughters are into it so its a family thing it's so amazing to watch the life cycle of this beautiful butterfly my granddaughters love releasing them
It's interesting to see the time lapse photography of, just how fast; the caterpillar becomes the monarch butterfly. Something that's very common most, in the Natural Bridges State Beach butterfly sanctuary. Never see how butterflies mate with each other. 🦋
These are the Monarch butterflies. One day going outside my house the whole gum tree was filled with hundreds & hundreds of the monarch butterflies they were in clusters, it was about 5pm this day so they were settling in for the night it was a spectacular sight to see. They travel great distances of 50 to 100 miles & takes up to 2 months to complete their journey. The farthest monarch butterfly was recorded to have travelled 265 miles in one day.
Fun fact, while they're in there they melt down and turn into caterpillar soup and have to reform into the shape of a butterfly. My question is if they are like still cognizant while that happens and if it hurts
I can’t seem to send a photo, but they are up high, in cotton n sitting in clean terry clothe. In a big big plastic jar with twigs n air vents. Anything other advice?
I remember in science class in 6th grade, we had four monarch caterpillars that my teacher got from my local zoo. One of the butterflies emegred from its cocoon when we weren't in class, that same day we were watching a video about atoms because we were on our atom lesson, but one of my friends caught one of the other three butterflies coming out of their cocoon in the middle of the video so my teacher paused it and me and my friends bursted out of our seats to watch the butterfly come out. After getting back to video, we calmed ourselves down after the moment. We didn't stay calm for long because another butterfly was coming out of its cocoon and felt the same way with the previous one being hyperly excited! Later in STEM class, I got to hold one of the butterflies when my teacher tagged it, its legs were very hairy and tickled me a bit me saying "You better not taste my skin because I know you taste with your feet." Then it flew off to Mexico with their buddies ❤
I spent time at my uncle's farm in northwest Iowa. There was milkweed everywhere, which is the Monarch's staple food. I saw a "migrating" tree there once, with thousands of them. So awesome.
SERBIA ❤️❤️❤️🐛🦋🌺
When I was little I actually had a caterpillar as a pet that I found outside and I put some leaves and beaches in a shoe box. My parents made me get rid of it and it turned into a moth. It just pains me anytime I hear the name Ivy because I loved that pet so much. I even slept by it
God's Blessings Beyond Measure that we have the pleasure of enjoying. We all need to protect them in every way possible before they all start to disappear, like the beautiful Monarchs 🐛🦋💗🐛🦋💗🐛🦋💗
Yes. Along with the bees, the monarchs have been recently labeled as an endangered species. This world is becoming more and more unbearable to live and thrive in good health.
I'm planting milkweed in my yard to try and save the Monarchs. If I get some this year I should make a box like this for them to cocoon and be safe! Time to study up!
Fun fact about me, I once raised 5-6 orange monarch butterflies when I was around 5-6. When they were in their “cocoon”, I accidentally bumped into them and knocked one cocoon down. The poor thing died, RIP
