In this video I show a Seiko G757 circuit board that has bad battery damage. Highlighting what a leaked battery can do to a watch if left to its own devices. Sometimes you can be lucky and the acid can run to areas that can be cleaned or repaired. On this example it ran to the integrated circuit and eat away and got under the resin protection destroying the watch board. These are highly desirable watches too!

It would interesting to see what's under the resin.

a1topdog haha very true although I would not be able to remove all the resin. I’m still not completely given up on this one. The module commands a good price working which means finding a donor pricy so in the future I will come back to it and decide if it’s past the point of no return

Informative as always! Did you put the whole module into alcohol?

Time Art Piece hi, yes I’ve done this on a few really dirty modules. I put IPA in a small jar drop the whole board in it and run through a 40 deg C wash in my Ultrasonic. Usually then shows up track breaks etc. They should still work if they have dried fully. I’ve done it on working boards and non runners
