One thing I;d like to point out is shaft length on the instinct, the steering and trim motors are so big, it requires going up one size in shaft length for your waterline, the minn kota website doesn't address this problem yet.

Hello....NO it does not need a heading puck. Its all built in to the head.

does the ultrex quest make noise when you turn it, like the previous generation?

I just installed my Ultrex Quest and only took it out once so far. I was impressed with how quiet it was. I only got sound when turning it really sharp and quick.Way more quiet than the old model. I made some crazy moves then hit spotlock to see how it would do and it recovered fast. When slowly fishing down a bank it was silent!
