At now age 31, Draymond Green is averaging a career low steal rate at 1.7% and is hair under one block per game. While those numbers might seem pedestrian compared to defensive giants Rudy Gobert (2.0 bpg) or Myles Turner (3.1bpg), the traditional counting stats have failed to capture Green's impact on the defensive end. It hasn't, however, failed to prove itself on the team level where Golden State ranks #1 in Defensive Rating, allowing only 100 points per 100 possession (Golden State previously was holding opponents to 98-99 points per 100 possessions for much of the start of the season too, a mark that other teams were not able to sustain). That's 2.5 points better than the Clipper's 2nd ranked best defense, and is also equivalent to the difference between the 2nd and 10th ranked defense as of today.
This defensive highlight reel is unlike your traditional video as it features clips of Draymond's brilliance behind his defensive positioning, communication, and defensive playmaking. I love the first clip in this video as it encapsulates Green's pride and attentional to detail behind playing fantastic defense.
