WATCH: The King County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to give an update about the deadly shooting that left multiple people dead in Fall City Monday morning.
KCSO spokesperson Mike Mellis said five people were found dead inside a home in Fall City Monday morning after deputies responded to a reported disturbance with gunfire involved. Mellis said deputies found three school-aged children and two adults dead inside the home - another teenager who lived at the home was also taken to a Seattle hospital for their injuries.
A teenage suspect was taken into custody.
“This is a significant event for the neighborhood," Mellis said. "And I’d call it a significant event for the region.”

I was brought up with guns.. my dad had a lot of rifles and pistols, he hunted, they were never locked up back in the 60’s, they were in my dads work shop that I went in to get a screw driver….and returned it..never touched them, never thought about them. Lots of fathers in our area that hunted had guns that were sitting down stairs or on a workbench….none of us ever even picked them up or thought about them.

Grew up in the same time, same situation. My dad was a hunter too. All his guns were in the den in a display case. Never in a million years would have given them a thought, never paid any attention to them. We respected our parents, LE and our teachers…different times 🫤

That's because guns aren't the issue in my opinion. Something else is wrong in our society. A young child might be someone who should never be around guns, since they don't know what they are, but a teenager at least is aware of their purpose, unless they are suffering from severe emotional or mental health issues, then people need to be careful. Personally, at least in most of these cases, I think it's a lack of respect for human life, lack of religion, lack of discipline and consequences, something like that because actually killing someone has never even crossed my mind whether there were weapons around or not.

I generally agree, but at 65 and having worked in LE for 0ver 20 years I can say that the office of sheriff is one of the most easily abused. When a sheriff is voted in they don't have to have credentials. While I am a huge fan of LE, I HAVE seen two cases of really scary, abuse of power/crappy job done, by sheriffs. By the way, this is generally no reflection on the rest of the department who are for the most part good guys. The first was Gary Edwards in Thurston County some years ago and the current is the very troubling case of Bob Songer in Klickitat County, WA. So just do your research before you vote. Support the Blue!

Heartbreaking. Sounds like he somehow/someway had access to firearm(s) and unfortunately used it against what is perhaps all his family. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it's a good reminder to make sure those firearms are safe and secure and out of the hands of those that have some mental issues.

You’re so right!!! As a teacher in an alternative program I was continually stunned by how some of our students reacted to things not going their way. In some cases we had to evacuate the classroom and call admin and/or the police. Children need to be properly disciplined from a young age and continually held accountable for inappropriate, destructive and/ unacceptable behavior.

Yes. Just wrote this in response to another commenter. There has been so much evidence (since at least the later 1990s) that SSRIs trigger both suicidal and homicidal ideation as side effects. Moreover many of the "school shooters" (most) have been on those psychopharmaceuticals.

It’s still an on going investigation and everything they do and say matters in the eyes of the court. Releasing wrong information can be used as reasonable doubt by the defense or brought up later during cross. Anything to overturn a verdict or get a mistrial 🤷🏼‍♀️

The medical examiner can do nothing in re the bodies until forensics is done anyway, the coroner would be standing around for hours waiting, forensics does their thing first, then the M.E. and their team comes in and handles the rest, rarely are bodies ever removed quickly and will remain for hours as the team does their job

Even if they have to stand around they should be there to understand the whole picture to aid in their conclusion. If the medical examiner indicates in the death certificate a homicide, than law enforcement can start a full investigation because by than you would have a death certificate with a manner is death.

Since the 90s, a lot of "shooter" events involving teenagers have involved SSRIs (anti depressant/anti-anxiety psychopharmceuticals). Who knows but those drugs are ubiquitous and both suicidal and homicidal ideation are known side-effects.

He sounds very sympathetic to the perpetrator who caused these deaths.Calling it an event as he first voiced his thoughts on the crime that he knows that happened is not what I expect someone to say about a deadly shooting.I’m pretty sure of the ethnicity of the perp is the same as he.Any other persuasion he would of had voice the scene in a different way.Take him straight to jail treat him like he is a murderer.

You are really trying to split hairs... "significant" = more than just the usual. Wiping out a family is not the usual shooting in America. Yet. Want us to be scared? Actually, those of us who don't own a bunch of guns are pretty hard to scare. We aren't scared enough to think we need to carry a gun to the local hardware store... Guns are bad? No, guns are guns. Having a shotgun for home protection is fine. Having high capacity semi-auto or auto rifles in the hands of idiots is bad.
