In this video i repair a overhead information display off a Toyota Tacoma 05-09. These fail quite often, but the repair is simply just replacing the 2 510 SMD resistors. We offer this service for under $20 link below.

This overhead hasn't worked in my 2006 Tacoma since 2010. I figured what the hell...if I break it oh well. It worked though...great success in 10 minutes! Thank you!

Great video! I've had success with this repair in the past but my display has recently stopped working again. The iron I used was much too large and bulky and I want to clean things up and re-do it correctly now that I have an appropriate soldering kit. Thanks for posting the tools you use and a link for purchasing the resistors; I ordered two so I can start fresh.

I have a "Revision 3" display that doesn't have the 510 resistors. The compass displays correct, but the temperature just displays dashed lines. Any suggestions?

Most likely a bad ambient temperature sensor.

Nicely done. Noob Question: what's in the copper ball, flux? and what are you using to clean the flux, alcohol?

The copper mesh is to clean the tip, works very well compared to a moist sponge. We us either alcohol or lacquer thinner to clean flux off the boards.

So dumb... a $30k truck with such shitty worksmanship on sodering that part. Smh.......I'm thingy stop working years ago. And I've been thinking about bringing it in to the dealer to fix or replace. But thanks to this. I shall hopefully get mine to work again..
