Glad to see that place survived. We all went there after my daughter's wedding reception in September 2019. Then it was closed for a while, maybe pandemic related. For a few years about 10 years ago, I rented 7000sf of storage space in Leominster, where supposedly underneath my flooring were old candlepin lanes still there. Then it had become a billiard hall, then just storage space I rented from the owner who ran a bar on the ground floor. Just a bit of central MA candlepin history/trivia for you!
I know of Putt's on Mechanic Street. They covered the lanes with a new floor, made it a pool hall I've been to a few times. I think Covid killed Mr. Harvard, the family sold Harvard Lanes. Wachusett Brewing Company turned it into 204 Lanes, redoing the entire back half with new restrooms, food counter, and shoe/reception area at the door. Current owner bought it from the brewing company, redid the lanes, and the action is a lot better now. Supposedly they are working on their own electronic scoring, but for your own records, done on a tablet. Just an initial idea for now.
@@georgef551 Back in 2017, friends of mine bowled in the Friday night Pro league out of Woburn Lanes team #2. While watching them team #1 was bowling which included Sarge! He bowled what iwas told was a 478 triple that night! It was the first time i watched a bowler and it lookd like hes was bowling a different game than anyone else. He was simply outworldly that night.
@@drewrocker9934 He's a great. I bet he's got at least a 500 triple under his belt. From what I know, his 245 wasn't even a perfect game, all the more impressive!
