I'm addicted to Barry's many voices. Barry has the power to bring happiness and comfort to my heart and soul (and eyes). Really a gem. Love Bee Gees. Love you too much, Barry.
When I feel like listening to some unique songs..the first thing came to my mind is to watch/listen to your reactions and there I found Bee Gees songs and it definitely made may day...just like this one! Thank you Chad😊
Oooo... this was SMOKING! LOL! I'm a woman, and although I dont like the general theme of the lyrics, I love the "over you/ under you" chorus and the sound of the music! Fire🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for finding & reacting to this one Chad!
Staying alive is an ok movie, with great dancing from John Travolta. All the Bee Gees songs on this album are great. 'Break out' and 'Live goes on' would be my recommendations after this one.
Love this vibe. Another from this movie ‘Someone Belonging to Someone’ that I’ve requested before. Love this!! Never saw the movie but Bee Gees music from this cd great. Catchy tune. I listened to this earlier and it’s been on my mind all night. Lol great song. First time to hear this.
I´m going to tell you one thing....the songs of this album was written by them BUT....BUT......¡¡all the tracks of each song!!....are sung by Barry alone...cause at that moment Maurice and Robin were working on Robin´s solo album.
Drummer was Steve Gadd. The problem with this soundtrack is that Sly wanted his bro Frank to get to the charts and did everything he could. Everyone in the business knows that Frank should have been in a tribute rock band but that's about it. Anyway, to make it clear, Sly gave orders to put Frank's music in the front row in the movie, whilst the BeeGees didn't get the support needed by Stigwood as they were already suing Stigwood for 190 million USD for unpaid royalties. They settled off court as Robert had to pay what he owed them. That's the story Chad
The Gibb songs were cut to bits in the movie by the SS. The boys were not happy! I have a couple of outtakes from the movie and they are also top quality. Thanks again Chad.👍
You are not missing anything by not seeing the movie! Sylvester Stallone made sure all of his brother"s songs were in all of the prime spots in the movie. I thought all of the Bee Gees songs were so much better in every way and on every level!!! They should have kept them and released those on their own album!
Going to respond to your question with a "yes." If you ever have a chance to see the movie, these lyrics would make even more sense. Cynthia Rhodes' dancing was stellar. Her character was was a long-suffering part-time love interest to John Travolta's reprise of Tony Manero and his selfish ways. The film was "meh" and a bit hard to watch all the way through, but the Bee Gees' songs were just great. Love Barry's lead. Nice pick.
Yay! I got a shout out! Thanks Chad so glad to hear your reaction on this one I love this song so much, I actually liked the movie too and have it on dvd and to be fair on frank stallone I liked his songs in the movie but as others have said the bee gees songs were better and should have been in more important places in the movie. I originally only watched the film because of the bee gees music being in it 😁
Wow! You are finding some little gems. Well done. I've suggested a few times reacting to Funny Moments of the Bee Gees parts 1, 2 and 3. I still think you would love to see this side of them. They started in variety and were so funny. Also saw Spicks and Specks reviewed which is their great first no. 1. Hint hint
Absolutely. Some of Robin's comments were omitted as a little too risque, LOL. Those are the ones I liked! Liked Mo's chuckles and Barry's cringes in response to those.
Chad, all their songs from the "Stayin' Alive" movie were fantastic but Frank made sure that his songs were in the best parts of the movie. It definitely helps to have family ties. LOL 😆
Love it! The Bee Gees should have written all the songs for the movie "Staying Alive." Frank Stallone's contributions were not as good and the movie wasn't the success that "Saturday Night Fever" was.
Frank ALWAYS had a tight hold on his brother's coattails so he could get in on anything he was working on...sadly, what he did didn't have to be that good.
Oh yes....Great movie and song. Music kinda drown out the vocals, odd for them, but LOVE BEE GEES however they wanna do things. As usual....BARRY SOARS🎶🎵🎶❣❤
The follow up movie to SNF didn't do well. I always wondered, why Stallone produced it. Maybe because he wanted to push the career of his brother. Didn't succeed at all. But the songs of our beloved Bee Gees (must say, mostly Barry, so at that point his brothers weren't easy to arrive, because of projects in Europe) were the only good thing about that movie.
I liked the movie. Cynthia Rhodes, the wife at the time of The Richard Marx played Jackie in the Stayin’ Alive as John Travolta’s love interest whom was ofter put aside to be with the gorgeous lead dancer in the Broadway play they all danced in.
They fulfilled their contractural obligations to RSO/Stigwood with this album. Whatever drama was going on, they didn’t compromise on the quality of workmanship....ALL of the songs are great!!.. .. but after they saw how their songs were chopped up and minimised, they refused to promote the movie - even if it hurt their songs’ chances in the chart - refused to be used. Travolta seemed to almost shun the movie with them out of an honourable loyalty. The story about what went on between them and Stigwood is fascinating. After 20 years, they had learned from the master himself. They asserted their rights as artists to an audit. Before it was over, they had both taken out full page scathing ads with statements to the public telling their sides, and of course the public was on theirs - and they soundly beat Stigwood at his specialty: PR!! He must have had a sense of pride at how well his boys had learned!! They settled out of court, and my guess is that they walked away with full ownership of their catalog, not just cash. Even though they didn’t work with Stigwood again, they maintained a very healthy respect and appreciation for him and the role he had played in their success. When they were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, they said that they wouldn’t accept the award if he didn’t come up and accept it with them, which he did. (I believe Maurice’s son represented him.) At least Barry stayed in touch with Robert - made and received annual birthday and holiday greetings - and Barry and Eric Clapton both spoke fondly of him at his Remembrance celebration after he passed. I am hoping Barry’s memoir will fill in lots of missing pieces to the story!!
If I ever ask, or suggest a song for you to react to I don't expect you to jump right on it. Mainly,I just like anything the BeeGees do. Well, not always. I think it's fun to watch with you. I usually don't even see them until weeks or months later. I love Barry.
This songs always takes me when It plays in my car when I'm driving alone in a solitary road, I roll down the windows and press the gas pedal. When with my kids 6 and 5 years old they say play it again Daddy!!!! And again and again.
I actually went to see Staying Alive in the theater just so I could hear the Bee Gees songs. Their music, and the dancing, were the best parts of a pretty terrible movie.
The only good thing about this movie was the songs contributed by the Bee gees. I tried to watch when it first came out and left the theater 1/2 way thru. Tried to watch it recently and still had to turn it off. My favorite song on this soundtrack was "Someone belonging someone" the other songs I enjoyed as well. Thanks again Chad
The songs from this soundtrack didn't do as well, their placement in the movie did nothing to help them. The Stallone brothers were in things for themselves, and so Frank Stallone's less than awesome, just so so music, was placed more front and center. It really shot them in the foot, because the movie failed to come even close to the success of Saturday night fever. And to answer your question, if you really love someone, then no, you can't love them too much, in any fashion 😉
This song was written and recorded in 1982 for the soundtrack released in 1983. The song 'Stayin' Alive' was the only song from 1977 on the soundtrack, and it was presented in edited form. The movie and the soundtrack were both neither as successful or as good as "Saturday Night Fever". The magic just wasn't there. They were busy working on solo projects and other artists at this time and this was just a contractual obligation.
@@allisons3663 - I honestly don't know anyone who saw either film at the cinema or at all. Maybe it was my age since I was almost 28 when it came out. I suspect it was bigger for younger people. I know it was massive at the time but among a certain demographic. Now many years later it seems to be more of a cult movie since I never see it on TCM or AMC. I thought the Bee Gees said they never saw it except maybe at the premier but I could be wrong.
Movie was awful, Frank Stallone 's stuff sucked. Movie made Sgt Pepper look brilliant lol. This song not in my top Bee Gees Playlist. It's just meh to me, a long time fan, not an easy thing to say.
