Thank you for this video. Any time I can see the horse that God built I am thrilled. Secretariat was here for all the people he lifted this country up and he’s the greatest racehorse of all time.
I have a great great grandson of Secratariat and his birthday is May 5 2013 which means he turned 11 on Secratariats 50th anniversary of winning Kentucky Derby! Big Red was a gift from God to all of us ❤️ We love you Secratariat ❤️
Thanks for posting this video. However, I must say that the power of Secretariat's bloodline is really understated. I made a quick check of the pedigrees of the 18 who made it to the starting gate this year (2023). There was at least one cross of Secretariat in the pedigree of 17 of the 18.
Secretariat should be remembered like this on every Kentucky Derby . The greatest horse ever . Sure he lost a few but know horse in racing has ever set track records in all three races of the triple crown and those records still stand fifty years later is just mind blowing .
That idea would be a slap in the face to thoroughbreds who are actually better, and also won that race. If Secretariat when toe to toe with Swaps or Spectacular Bid, he would lose. So let's just leave as it is. The endless, overblown hype of a horse who struggled in Open company. And destroyed claiming horses on an incredibly glib, hard rolled Belmont surface. In a time that is slower than when the Bid galloped out after his world record 1 1/4 mile under restraint effort, by a full second. Swaps ran 4 classic distance races faster than Secretariat. And all of them with more weight.. MN maybe all 1 1/4 mile races, should be in honor of The Bid. Since that record is now 43 years old
Have you seen the videos where they run other good horses such as mow, AM , Seabiscuit and others against Secretariat ? If not you should watch them . I don't remember bids record or Swaps . You see I'm old enough to have seen sb run but not swaps . I've been watching racing since I was 14 years old . And since I had a birthday yesterday I am 74 now . That's sixty years of watching horse racing . Before that I listened to races on the radio . Those horses you mentioned were good but they are not remembered like the Greatest horse ever and that is Secretariat of course.
At all times in the 2023 Derby field, all but one horse Derma Sotogate, were Secretariats. Generations go beyond 5. You have to look at the expanded family trees, or know his daughters/ son or grandsons’ names. You really messed up the entire point of your story.
You are right of course, "Tintop", Northern Dancer is without doubt, probably the greatest sire of the 20th century and with a list not only of race-winning progeny, but also in producing such "Sire of Sires" as "Nijinsky", his reputation in that sphere cannot be equalled. However purely as a "Race-Horse", "SECRETARIAT", still stands alone at the pinnacle of Horse Racing. Some may claim, that "such and such" a horse ran faster, or "so and so" won more races. Yet the facts cannot be disputed no matter what any may claim. "SECRETARIAT" won each of the three legs of the American "Triple Crown" races in record times, "The Kentucky Derby", "The Preakness" and "The Belmont Stakes", establishing times that have never been equalled let alone beaten, in 50 years. Who can gainsay the way he surged past the field, in "The Preakness", going from last to first place, in the space of just a few hundred metres, or how he simply cruised home under a "Hands and Heel" ride from Ronnie Turcotte, whilst brave "Sham", was being beaten mercilessly. Then of course came the astounding and triumphant run in "The Belmont Stakes". To win by 31 LENGTHS, simply beggars belief, yet it happened...It may well be many, Many years, before we mere mortals are able to witness such scintillating brilliance again. Until then racehorses may come and go, some might even be acclaimed as champions, but there IS Only One "SECRETARIAT"...!!
