We always draw great satisfaction when our clients drive and share the cars they acquire from us exactly as their makers’ intended. Which is why it gave us such great pleasure to hear that the new owner of DBR9/9, the four-time FIA World Endurance Championship podium-finishing car, is going to race it at the forthcoming Spa Classic in May.
Before he takes to the history-steeped circuit deep in the Ardennes Forest, however, we headed to Donington Park and tasked former Aston Martin Racing driver Sam Hancock with setting the car up for the long sweepers of Spa-Francorchamps.
We were joined by Venture Engineering, the Oxfordshire-based preparation company formed of many former Prodrive engineers with first-hand period first-hand experience on the DBR9. The brief from the outset was clear: make the car approachable and friendly, while also optimising the high-downforce setup for Spa.
