My mother is living in a retirement facility with dementia in largo. They are a zone D area and the facility is a storm shelter. Largo is in Pinellas County across from Tampa. My parents lived there for 30 years before my dad passed and mom had a stroke and got dementia. This is the first storm coming directly towards them. I trust the facility, and all the staff is staying the night in case anything happens to it. But I am worried out of my mind because I can't do anything about it but watch. I know you don't remember me anymore mom, but I love you!❤
The ground here in Central Florida is already saturated before the Hurricane hits. It is not just one storm, there is a storm ahead of the Hurricane you can see on the map.
It never stopped raining after Hurricane Helene. The ground never dried. It's going to be a long night. I thought I could make up 5am Wendesday and take my dog outside, nope, still raining.
People know every year it's a 50/50 chance you're going to get some kinda hurricane effects and they wait till the last minute to leave or buy supplies..
