To be honest I am not really sure, he brought up the break-in period when I had him on the live show and I just figured I would follow his directions. I know it had some pretty thick lube in it when I got it. Now I have quite a few more rounds through it now because I'm still filming with it. I have ran cheap 55 grain factory ammo in it now, 62 grain green tip and my 55 grain reloads now and I haven't had any hiccups

Generally they will specify a specific type of ammo because that's what they test then with it the factory. So they know that it works with that kind of ammo it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work with other kinds of animal
