About this Visit:
They arrived Duluth July 16, 2024 for the 7th time this season. Making it a little interesting, they aborted their arrival due to Bow Thruster issues. If you watch the videos, many times when a ship passes my camera you can hear a higher pitched "whine", that is the bow thruster keeping the vessel centered in the canal. Without that assist, it makes for a much more precarious arrival. They turned off, swinging by the Polsteam ships out in the lake, reset the controllers and came into the canal at 19:55, cruising by us at 5.7 Kts. Heading to the Graymont dock with a cargo of limestone. So far, all of their 7 visits they have been bringing in limestone, departing only once with a cargo of Blast Furnace Trim. They pulled into the Graymont dock at 21:13 and began discharging. 7.3 Hours later July 17 at 04:29 they completed discharging and departed the Graymont dock. They sailed out of Duluth at 05:34 in the morning, the only cargo they had was ballast. Heading to Marquette MI to load iron ore.
They spent a total of 9.7 hours in port for this visit.
