I traveled solo before the pandemic. Felt extremely safe. Stayed in a cheapish hotel on main street overlooking the waters. Traveled on the bus daily with camera on hand. Went to Colebay, St. Peters, Marigot, the peer on the French Side. Can't wait to come back.

October is great but do keep in mond that it is still the hurricane season. That means that some businesses may be closed. Most reopen in the second half of October. I don’t know much about Secret Resort other than that it is an all inclusive on the French side and that it’s a little far from everything else. Happy Travels.

GOOD MORNING! So happy to have found someone we like hearing about the island from! We are going to be there in June '22 and the 3 of us have had a difficult time deciding where to go in the first place, so with that said, you have made things much easier. We of course have questions, though, like: 1. Where is a place single women over 40 adults only might be best suited to stay? (We originally thought we would stay in an all inclusive, and after hearing you say 37 beaches & 100 nationalities expressed in food... Should we?) I might want to put the emphasis on SINGLE, if ya know what I'm sayin. 2. Rent a car for the whole stay? 3. Is Airbnb or VRBO a good alternative and are there places for day spa packages, etc? what are the advantages of french vs dutch side for the actual stay? 4. Is this too many questions in the first freaking place?? lol Thank you & keep the videos coming PLEASE! :)

Yay! You will love it here. Just please note that Anguilla does not yet take day trippers. Their travel requirements are quite strict and they just added more restrictions. So sadly for now no Anguilla Day Trips

Although there are certainly a lot of tourist traps and places frequented by visitors, you’ll find that most locals hang out wherever is popular. The Philipsburg area tends to have a tad more “local” feel than the Simpson Bay area.

Hello Riselle. I was wondering (in a normal time) is it easy to travel between the islands? To Anguilla and back to your island for a day trip for example? And perhaps you could contrast the two islands? Am I correct when I heard that Anguilla is now reporting to international banks? Will that change the economy?

Hey Andrew, yes, in normal times it is quite easy to get to the neighboring islands. Saba, St. Barth and Anguilla are all short ferry rides away, with Anguilla being the closest. There are big differences between St. Maarten and Anguilla. You’ll need to visit both or watch my videos to see what those differences are. I’m not a financial person. Just a simple travel writer and am completely clueless when it comes to questions regarding banking, etc. Thanks for watching my video 😉

1. Between April and June in my opinion. 2. I’m not a fan of all-inclusive but ai guess the Sonesta Maho is the best for families 3. All the beaches are great but a lot of families prefer Mullet Bay I donNt have kids so it’s hard for me to say.

Hello, my wife and I are coming to St Martin in October for the first time. I would like to be near Phillipsburg from what I been told. I was given the name The Villa's as a place to stay. It is a 2 bdrm condo ocean front but wanted to see if you could recommend anything for the two of us. Thanks from South Carolina, USA

The Villas are nice. I think it has a pool as well. It’s in a more residential part which means that you’ll have the occasional digs barking. It’s a Caribbean thing. It’s hard for me to recommend you an accommodation without knowing what you and your wife like. I personally prefer a condo or vacation rental and I think you can’t go wrong with what you have now. It’s on a quiet part of the beach as well.

@@Ngozin1 sonesta Maho is closest to the Maho beach where the planes land and is in the Maho area which has a casino and a few bars. It’s also all inclusive which does not give you the opportunity to see much of the island. All inclusives are not beneficial to the island, in my opinion. Simpson Bay beach resort is in the middle of the entertainment area. Oyster Pond is away from a lot but is in a beautiful area. You’ll have a beach at all three but will need to rent a car to see more beaches and other attractions.

I ended renting a car but didn't use it much except to drive to Marigot and maho Beach. I stayed at the villas on Simpsons Bay it was more convenient for us to walk around in Phillipsburg then driving bc everything was very close. I can't wait to visit again next year ❤❤

Hi Bob. There are a lot of cabs and there is public transportation (busses). Uber does not exist here. Beware of the so called gypsy taxis which are illegal taxis. Happy travels.

Thank you 😊 Please visit stmaartenentry.com for the most up to date entry requirements. The CDC has always had a warning up. St. Maarten is considered a low risk at the moment with under 50 cases. Of course things can always change, so keep in mind that flights can shift and things can change from one day to another. Currently all businesses on SXM must close by midnight.

Thank you. Sint Maarten is the obvious choice of course. I’ve been to Antigua and definitely prefer SXM but that is my personal opinion. As for the hotels near the airport: the airport closes around 10PM so there won’t be any plane noises after that. Besides most of the hotels near the airport have rooms that face away or that have some sort of noise proof windows/doors. And most of SXM’s hotels are not near the airport at all. You’ ll be fine.

Hello :) I’m planning a vacation At Maarten soon. Have you stayed at Karibuni Boutique Hotel before or heard any good feedback from that hotel ? What is the best hotel to stay at for a young couple ? :)

No, I have not stayed at Karibuni and cannot say anything about it at all. Check Le Petit Hotel. It’s one of my favorites

@@TheTravelingIslandGirl yes it is nice onthe beach but get the second floor. You will be in gran case French side. Pretty far from the action casinos ECT. Eas at least one time cheap. Love the island d been there over 20 times Inc cruises. Be there end of Nov on a 14 day cruise by my se)f. Wife passed 4 yeasts ago. Have a great time. Left out in gran case at the lo lis sit on benches and tables. Very cheap approx 10 bucks for a full course meal 2 nollar local beer. Sorry typing to fast sorry.

Could you tell us the recent changes due to Covid. What we need to do and prepare for ... tests, precautions ... etc I'd like to go back but not sure what are the requirements these days. I read horror stories about people getting detained at the airport due to wrong test ... etc

@@zobry2xxx we do not talk about the hurricane from 4 years ago anymore. We would like to put this behind us actually. Please check out the other videos for more clarity. As for crime: there is crime everywhere. Use hood judgement and don’t leave valuables in the car. St. Maarten is still relatively save.

@@TheTravelingIslandGirl Thank you so much for the info. It would seem that the property and beach in front of Club Orient would be the perfect place. After all, birds always return to the place where they hatched from the nest, and birds of a feather always flock together. I do have to admit the beach was wonderful, and so long as Naturalists do not flaunt their life style on the "family beach", the French Police will be tolerant. I have 15 more kilos to lose, and then I will be headed to the Island. I will be curious about a couple of places you mentioned for eating. Keep up the great posts. Again, Thank You!!

First thing that has changed: we do not talk about the hurricane anymore. It has been 4 years and we only want to look forward. Please, no more hurricane talk. Second: Between the hurricane and Covid, quite some places have closed and others have opened.

Kimberly, girl, you heard wrong. Yes, sure there are things to do as a couple but this place is an excellent spot for girls trips. Believe me, you will have plenty to do and lots of places where you can mingle (responsibly). Remember though that the party scene is not as it used to be. The virus is alive and well here as well, so, please make sure to keep your physical distance and wear your mask.

With the island being half Dutch/half French, is it considered in the same way as Martinique & Guadeloupe would be? For phone service/roaming, European citizenship etc? So therefore as a European, is it as easy to settle & live/work on the Island as it is for us to go to France or Netherlands & just settle & work?

March has always been our busiest months (pre-pandemic) It’s when we have our biggest festivals like the Heineken Regatta and the Music Festivals. It’s also generally one of the most expensive and busiest.

Wow. This hurts. Crime exists everywhere in the world. St. Maarten is not exception but putting it this way paints an inaccurate picture of the island.

Great question. Unfortunately it is not. There are some places that are but overall most people on the island don’t build with wheelchair users in mind. A sad reality. But the bigger resorts do.

Sint Maarten is an autonomous country within the Dutch Kingdom. Basically we live independently in mom's backyard and Saint Martin is an overseas collectvity of the French Republic. So, the French side is part of France and the European Union.

I don’t smoke so I can’t say. I know from smokers that it is much less than in the mainlands. And I often see visitors stock up on the large cartons of cigarettes

I wear my bikini while walking around on the island enjoying the weather...get over it. I expect friendly service when im there spending American Money so sorry if I dont say Good Day or whatever...get over it, im sure you will cry all the way to the bank.
