It sucks that some people seem to be unlucky no matter what brand laptop you get. It seems like 3-5% of any brand laptop are bad eggs. I bought a Clevo laptop from Sager and it has been fantastic. 5 months i've had it now and its still is like brand new fresh out the box even though I put 500+ hours of heavy gaming use and rendering etc on it already. It's very sturdy and feels very good quality. I put about 3 hours of gaming on it per day and my days off I run it most of the day. Temps are good and I have everything jacked up to max performance but I did also do an undervolt as well. But even before that my avg cpu was running 85°c and my gpu 79°c under full load which is perfectly fine for a laptop rated up to 105°c on cpu and 95°c on gpu and well within healthy temps. Laptops geberally run hot no matter what because of limited space and cooling. But the cooling system is great and it uses copper heat pipes and has powerful fans on both gpu and cpu and a ton of vents. After a simple -.100 undervolt on xtu my average cpu temp under full load is now 72°c and gpu is 77°c. I personally reccomend trying Sager if you do get a Clevo and they will work with you to customize it as well but I was happy with the base build on mine so I didnt change anything. Sager is one of the more low key brands out there but have a great reputation and been around since the 80's. Ive heard alot of bad stories of getting clevos from xoticpc and the other more mainstream companies but mostly positive from Sager with very few negative reviews.
I first had the clevo p870km-g with a gtx 1080, had it for almost 5 years and had no trouble. I then sold it because I needed a more powerful gpu. I now have the x170km-g with the rtx 3080 and am very happy so far.
Have a Clevo PE60 Garentee til mid 2026 and runs games like a beast i9 13900h 4070 140w metal chassi 32gb ram 5TB m.2 2560x1600 240hz panel. Also have hinge replacement parts and bezzel replacement for the screen. Just in case. But this is in 2024 and he is living in a other time. haha
I think Clevo or whomever you bought your laptop from will take care of your problem.Ive had mine for a year.The W65KJ1_KK1.Did the coffe lake mod for it with an 8100.Installed an external grphics card thru the pcie inside the case and all is working fine.No melted socket pins and no striped screws.All laptops are subject to damage if droped or overtightened wich i doubt you did.Could have been the shipping it experienced.Im sure we have all had a damaged product at one time or another.Luckily my clevo was bought in nj and shiped maybie 60 mi.I have owned asus g51vt x5 asus g73 jh.forget the msi i owned as i sold it . i still have the other 2.long story short there not tanks.Any laptop i have owned i believe would break if droped or overtightened.Laptop made from steel would be great for a workout.I hope you get this resolved.My guess is they will take care of you.Ask for a z series for me :-] GL
The most important point before buying these bespoke laptops is, their motherboards and durability. You can rely on Dell or HP, even Surface MSI Acer Asus motherboards, but can you trust a stranger and then how long can the plastic body stay alive compared to other brand plastic bodies? No one wants to warn you about this two issues
I got one not new but it is a Clevo NH50-70RA what A pos. Maybe it is the WIndows 11 but whatever it is, it freezes, and overheats, overclocks, it is just a pos overall.
I have a Sager Clevo prostar w65 rc1 and I simply can't find anything about this particular unit. It's got 32 gigs of ram, and is fast. I just want full info on it.
To add my tuppence here. Scan is someone you don't want to deal with given my past dealings with them. The only positive thing I can say about them is they are consistent at what they do and very good at getting paid. They are my supplier of lost resort for any IT jobs I have to do and I deal with £100ks in IT equipment a year.
I've had 3 clevo laptops fail on me (lower to mid end ones) through PC specialist. Clevo customer service isn't very good I have dealt with them. Some of their products are great butI've had 4 fail (i7 6700 32GB ram,mechanical HDD failed 7 times before they replaced it. The replacement had 3 GPU failures and a multitude of capacitor failures. I did buy an i9 version but 2 years later it seems ok. I don't recommend budget clevo. The chassis don't even get me started! I had the same chasis as yours!
just bin the spinning hdds. fit samsung ssd's. max out the ram and setup a ramdisk to install the swap file into on bootup with freeware. cpu's can be upgraded as can mxm gpu's. (i bought my 2014 p170sm secoondhand for £280. then blew a grand on upgrades. its runs pretty well) only thing that sucks is bios updates for mb and gpu. hard to get.
By LAW (UK law) you can get a refund it faills under the cunsumer rights act and warranty means nothing - its it not fit for purpose and the purpose it was intended for you can get a refund ouright. I hope you took them to caught. The chassis by the way is £35 on ebay!
I have a laptop that's based on the p970ed the video card or something is broken because all I'm getting is a keyboard that's lighten up I'm not getting any display and now I'm sending it to Sega and hopefully it doesn't cost a fortune to fix it the laptop is basically two years old it was manufactured in March 2019 laptop cost about $2,000 wow 1700 in the laptop is no good at this point it's just a pretty light show that's all I think the manufacturer should take responsibility because there's no way that a product should be inoperable after just 2 years that's a rip off to buy computer for $1,700 in 2 years later it's not working this company has to get better
