My E-92 M3 has 89K on it. I bought it with 86K a year ago. I did my rod bearings last spring and the old ones were not to bad. But good piece of mind. When I did the rod bearings I also had to replace my idler bearing and belts and motor mounts because the labor is a wash. The one think that bugs me is the power steering. There is one super small tiny rubber O-ring that causes it to leak a little and you can’t get a OEM O-ring you have to buy the whole pump for $1000 bucks. I have a aftermarket one in now that held up all last summer. So far so good. I have owned many nice cars in my life and I don’t think I will ever sell the M3. I truly believe these cars are just going to go up in value. Especially now since Hagerty just listed the E-9X M3 as on of the 5 BMW to watch and buy now!!! I’m so happy for this channel man🤟

Great Video....I agree about getting the car inspected. As a Pro Detailer, I offer a Service as Pre-Sale Inspection that goes over everything cosmetic like the paint condition, paint/clear coat thickness, wheel Inspection to see if they were damaged and repaired plus repainted and so on. So again, great video.

Great video and very informative. Seems like a very sorted E90 LCI M3 with all the common issues fixed for piece of mind. Looks amazing just being LCI and in white. Not too many other problems with the E90 platform. The rear diff might start to make noise at some point, the bearings tend to wear out at 130-140k miles. But easy fix these days with a new bearing kit.

Back in 2012 I bought a 65k mile 08 E92 M3 (Build Date of 08/2008) and had it for 220,000 Miles. I overhauled the cooling system at 160k, My throttle body actuators gave up the ghost at 185k, a reduced power warning shows up, and I changed the rear main seal, diff fluid, DCT Clutch, and Rod Bearings at 209k miles. Amazingly 3 of the rod bearings were bad when I had it changed it out. Unfortunately I got rear ended and it was totaled but I have an E91 that I hope to have converted to an M3 Wagon. I used LiquiMoly oil for the life of the car. And yes you will have to be papered up if you want to own one but that V8 is breathtaking in the high rev range. And yes PLEASE do the PPI before you shovel your cash to the seller. It will save you a bunch of headache and heartache.

Hey thic F30 - On doing a cold start, never ever high RPM this S65 V8 engine, BMW made rod and crank bearings "clearances" very, very TIGHT! So you can blow even new aluminum rod bearing if you get intothe habit of revving up a cold engine... Rule of thumb is always make sure the engine is up to tempeterature and oil is warm-hot... Next on S65 V8 engines the BMW recommends oil service every 10K miles, do not do this, change every 5K miles because the BMW recommended oil 10W-60 breaks down viscosity very fast and oil becomes "thin" burns up so you have high oil consumption - If I were you I would use Liqui Moly 2024 Synthoil Race Tech GT1 10W-60 and change out every 5K miles. (I am an AMSOIL Dealer telling you to use Liqui Moly because currently AMSOIL does not make oil for your car.)

I found an 08 $700 with a little over 300k miles on it. It is coming from a coworker who has the couple of body parts that need replaced. I will be nowhere near as picky however. It's possible it could end up gutted on a track powered by an lm7.

Here's the thing. Anyone who loves BMWs know the technically mechanical problems that come with owning a V8 engine with, you got it..the turbos. Yes, the reason for the sucking up your wallet and your bank a account. Of course those people who love speed and track day cars. The money has no limits, maybe. But any way if you must have a turbo strapped to the motor just be ready for the problems that come with that motor, and that go's for most cars, if not all. End word. Stay naturally aspirated. Your money and time will thank you greatly. BMW is a very good car, and those of us who know are still enjoying the Ultimate driving machine.

Great video! What do you think the best x-pipe and tune is for these? Will also pass NC inspection? Any experience with bimmer world x pipe and tune or AFe race cat x pipe? I have an 2008 e90 6sp 110k miles had it for 8yrs original clutch, rod bearings and still strong with clean Blackstone oil analysis... it’s my daily that I am retiring soon as I’m now past the extended warranty through 90k Also have a 2011 e90 6sp competition spec 28k miles all original... Other things to look out for beyond throttle actuators, rod bearings Steering angle sensor Wheel speed sensor Old battery... these are battery killers I have only got 5yrs max Oil seepage at the valve cover gasket is inevitable... replaced mine twice over 8 yrs and 110k miles Love these cars!

There's a local who comes to our shop once awhile and has a E90 with 180k miles. No rod bearings or actuators. He tells me he just follows the maintenance. Though he tells me the parts he gets aren't from bmw. But otherwise he claims it's cheap as his old car. Just more time consuming to work on

Some people get lucky, some go over 200k on original bearings, others blow with less than 50k :(

Lots of good advice in this video 🙂. A few things though, valve cover gaskets leaking is not a sign of lack of maintenance (unless oil is pissing out! lol), sooner or later all of them will leak, the rubber gaskets harden over time (and heat cycling) and will shrink (this is common to all cars to varying degrees). Also corrosion and or paint flaking can cause them to leak. As for battery age, sorry but that's just rubbish, batteries will wear at different rates depending upon journey lengths and ambient temperatures etc. (The original battery on my old e46 330d for example, lasted 14-15 yrs!) It's probably worthwhile having the battery tested after 8 yrs old though, less if it's a low mileage car. On a different note, I bought my M3 just 1 month before this video, we bought ours at the right time!😁 (pure luck on my part, lol).

Sorry, but that is ridiculous to assume all msport optioned cars are abused. Kids will beat on any car, regardless of msport or not. If you like the way it looks and you have a proper ppi done..buy the car. Worrying because it has an msport package and that appeals to younger kids, that may have beaten it..is silly
