I purchased these irons last week and got them fitted. Just received them from the golf shop yesterday and had a long session in TrackMan as I live in Iceland and it´s too cold to play outside. I just love them and I´m looking forward to being able to test them on the golf course.

I rented these clubs at a course in Vegas and let me tell you it’s much harder to come home to my older less forgiving irons. I hit these Rogues so well I wish I could get a set. Can’t afford them but man did they feel good to me as a brand new golfer

This is good to read. I just bought a set. A 56, PW, 6, 7, 8, and 9 from an older gentleman yesterday for $300. I let them sit in my favorites after reading reviews on them before purchasing them. Went in to the backyard yesterday and hit a few. Definitely feels different but, yes, way more forgiving.
@vanstromi7810
@vanstromi7810 2 года назад
@@Areynfsu1983 The only thing negative that I’ll say about them is I’m not a huge fan of the LW. I oddly feel like I have less control over the shot with it. It almost feels too sticky or maybe it’s the kick/bounce to it? I’m not sure how to explain it. The rest of the set is awesome. I sank a birdie on a par 4 in my first round ever playing golf with this set of clubs at Desert Pines in Vegas. I believe it was hole 14. 1 hit 200 yds into the sand bunker, right side. Hit a 4 or 5 iron out of the sand about 150 yards onto the green for a putt on a par 4. I haven’t had that good a hole since lol. It was a crazy good shot.

Very informative, so thank you! I’m currently playing 22 and aiming to going down to 18hcp by summer and I really liked hitting the standard rogue with the graphite shaft. Very comfortable weight, good contact and very forgiving with good distance. It’s comforting you found them apt on the course, not rolling forever. They’re going for just over 400 pounds right now (5i to pw, which suits me as I’ll go with my trusted hybrid 4 or wood 5 from the tee or the fairway for longer distances). At this price, I can’t see any reason not to get them

Enjoying the revised reviewing procedure with less time spent watching range bay shots, more explanation to the GC numbers and how that relates to that particular club, and your ideas on what that club should/shouldn't do. Followed up with some on course play and overall feels. Keep up the commentary on loft strengths and gapping, I think it's important we remember that it's about hitting a distance consistently- what number club you're hitting is irrelevant.

I know this is a year late Rick, but I'm in the process of changing my irons. I've got Callaway x20's which I love, but are getting a bit worn. Your review of the rogue irons has given me food for thought. Love the vids you produce. Thank you.

Always appreciate your reviews and like that you're on the course as well as indoors. One thing you should do when reviewing clubs that are made for higher handicappers is work with several of us. I love your feedback but we all knew at then end you were not going to game these as you're simply way too good to play clubs like these. I'm not. I had rental Rogue irons and a hybrid at St. Andrews 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved them both (I've already purchased a Rogue hybrid...if you're hybrid shopping people, give the Rogue a try on the course). I found the Rogue irons easy to hit and longer than my TM M2's and as a higher handicap player I would give them consideration if I was in the market for irons.

Thaks for video, I just decided to finally replace my 20 yr old pIng Blue dots and I went to a Callaway fitting. Hit these Rogues very well. I Ordered a 6iron thru PW, with a 4, wood and 5 hybrid. I did not use my old 3-5 irons very much other than punch and runs or from a tee so it will be interesting to see how I play this set up on the course. I also ordered an approach and sand wedge. I stll intend on carrying my old steel shafted Nike 3w and will compare that to the 4w at the range to see if it is still worth carrying around.

Another great review Rick! Really appreciate your candid feedback and the how you marry the indoor data with actual on course playability. Looks like Callaway nerds to clarify their marketing strategy with how they are positioning Epic vs. Rogue. Appears that the story on Rogue is value vs. premium for the Epic line for irons, though it is not that ckear on the driver side.

Just got my set of these in. First properly fitted set ever, and that’s just a revelation. These are good clubs. Similar to the Ping G400. Great performance on toe missed. Honestly, they’re basically just the steelhead XRs with a new paint job. The urethane doesn’t improve the feel at all from the steelheads, but they are definitely somewhat quieter than the steelheads or ping gs, though they’re still a louder club. Good club for me as a high mid handicapper, would recommend

Thank you Rick I enjoyed your review of the Rogue Irons, I followed your advice as I am coming back to golf after a long lay off and tested these and others at a fitting session. There were clubs I tried that felt wonderful to hit but I either struggled with accuracy for where I am at the moment or I struggled to get one or two airborne, the best were certainly the Mizuno JPX919 for feel but they were, in my current circumstance just pipped by the Callaway Rogue. Not only could I get very good accuracy from them they were the longest for my swing speed (80 - 84 mph) and I got enough feedback to tell me whether I had hit them Toe, heel bottom or center. They are away having some adjustments made to the lie angle, I should have them soon and I can't wait to get out there and play again... Love your content, keep up the good work... Many Thanks

Nice informative video, however you said that in your opinion these clubs are for mid to high handicapper. My concern is that you swing the 7 iron at 90+mph and get the hight to stop on the green with the lower spin. Do you think this would be the case for your average club golfer who swings the club at 70mph?

Don't worry about it, I'm the same, the main thing is hitting it straight and knowing your distances. If I was 144 yards out on a course I'd be hitting my 4 hybrid 😂. Fuck sake I won a nearest the pin comp at a golf day on a par 3, 190 yards I hit my driver and just took a wee bit off

Interesting to hear about the difference between the rogue and epic finish. I would have expected the same since it seems to be a replacement of the epic, but now I think the rogue is just a taylormade-like "m2 to the m1" kind of marketing stance from Callaway.

Hey Rick you’ve released this review about 10 days too late. I’ve just had a fitting with my pro and after trailing them for 2 full rounds during comps, I’ve committed to buy then. After all during my first round I ended up with 47 points and won the comp. I reckon you’re right these suit a player like me high handicapper. I found these suited me better than the AP1’s and very close to the G400’s. Looking forward to your next review on the rogue X. Great review Rick, interesting whether your average club golfer (with their swing speed) would get the same height on shots, and so stopping power on the greens. Even at the cheaper price point these clubs are still too expensive for your average golfer, and really do nothing Ben Ross type R's didn't do a few years back with their low spin, low loft clubs.

Rick... or anyone that can answer this for me? Quick two part question regarding loft. 1. Tour pros use a “standard” loft setting?!?! I say they customize their lofts as well as lie, shaft etc?!?! 2. If you like the iron and you don’t want the strong loft, just have the clubs set to a more traditional/standard loft? I understand a cast iron is going to be more difficult to adjust, but I also know it can be done. Thoughts... please and thanks?

Good balanced video. If I could hit the ball as far as you, Rick, I would stick to 'traditional' lofts. As with most seniors, longer, stronger irons would help me reach more greens in regulation (assuming I don't duff it). Having played with some forged McGregor irons in the past, I would agree they feel much nicer when you hit the sweet spot.
