great review but you did not mentionned the 2 big defects of this machine : - memory slots failure - webcam purple lines ( need to change screen assembly ) otherwise a decent machine : i have one with i9 /32 gb ram also i hate the "nose cam"
My XPS 9560 had a unrepairable ram channel failure after 2 years, so its only single channel. Recently (3 years later) processor got stuck at 800 MHz because of another hw failure and is almost unusable without throttlestop. Pretty disappointed there are critical hw issues just after 3 years of not heavy usage. Dell could use better quality components for their top tier laptops. Waiting for the M1X MB Pro now.
have this for 3 years now, I didn't like how easily it heats up and since I started using a laptop stand, i didn't have any issues with the heat anymore. not the best laptop there is but I'm satisfied with the support and services, even the minor issues and they will send new parts right away.
I had overheating problems too, but I do 3d rendering, which is wasnt designed for. Got the motherboard changed by dell, and clean it out ever month or so, works very smoothly, have had it since 2019.
Nice review, what I have dreamt my 2019 9570 (i9, 32Gb Ram, 1 Tb SSD HD, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti Video Card) could be, but it is not. Embarrassing video performances, overheating, and many other problems listed in the comments below. I repasted the CPU, replaced the Killer Wifi Card with the Intel 9260, but nothing has changed. When I use any graphic software (especially Adobe) everything is drammatically slow. The video performances are less efficient than my 2013 Lenovo laptop. I have hoped improvements with new bios releases, or some tricks to fix the machine but I have been foolish. Nothing to compare with the old Dell Inspiron bought in 2001. Good lesson for the future. Don't buy Dell anymore.
I'm about to buy this laptop for $400. I'm looking for music production and doing my students stuff such as highlighting PDF and stuff like that. Sometimes I will use Premiere Pro in order to edit some videos. Do you think this laptop can handle it in 2024?
Does it support 4TB SSD, Presently I have upgraded to 2TB but would need 4 TB since there is only 1 SSD slot with full length battery. Of course manual mentions 2TB since 4 TB NVME were not common then. Thanks in advance.
In 2012 I had a MacBook Air. I LOVED it. Then the low screen res became an issue. Then I bought a touch bar MacBook Pro, didn't LOVE it, then I got the i5 8th Gen XPS 15 with 16gb ram and 4k touch screen. While certainly powerful, I don't LOVE it either. I think I must get an Air again.
There we are in 2024... I just bought one with i7, FHD screen, without RAM, SSD and power supply but with broken hinge for 120 Euro. Will try to revive it.
First of all thxx for the video 1. Does this laptop support Microsoft pen or other pens? If yes do they work as good as on surface 6 pro? 2. Do u know any laptop that has a good touchscreen, supports windows pens(or other pens) AND is either able to connect to an external GPU or already has a GPU? So like a gaming laptop with a touchscreen that supports pens ?
DELL XPS 15 does not support Microsoft Surface Pen or any other touch-sensitive pen. Unfortunately, I don't know any other laptop supporting the combination you mentioned.
HP Omen 15 2020. I own one, think it best for its money. Good design, thin enough and cooling system is one of the best. If you can get one with Ryzen processor and GPU of 30 series would be very powerful
I would say Lenovo Legion 7 16 (or Alienware X17 ) with 3080 165W TDP would be my top picks for ulimate performance. If you budget is less, then it would be the Lenovo Legion 5 pro with 3070 140W TDP.
I bought this in 2019. I've never had a brand new laptop in my life so I thought of purchasing a laptop with great specs so that I could use it in the long term without changing every few years. I bought the 4k touch version with 16 gigs of RAM. Worst decision of my life. It not only thermal throttles but power throttles as well. Laptop freezes and stutters and I have to restart it every time after this point. Good review but DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP FROM DELL. Maybe you can go with the newer XPS models but please do NOT BUY THIS MODEL. Dell has always been known to have thermal problems in their design.
Hello, I dont know if the creator still reads comments but I got offered a XPS 15 with following hardware: Dell XPS 15 9570 Intel Core i9-8950HK CPU 2.90GHz RAM 64GB DDR4 Kingston 980 Pro 2TB SSD Samsung And renewed Battery For 950 euros. I plan on using it with a eGPu for gaming. Is the heating too much of a problem in your opinion? Thank you alot
Hi Lukas, greetings from Italy! Just one question: coming from a Macbook Pro 2016 edition, will I feel a significant drop of output quality in comparison to Apple retina display? Thank you very much
Hi Francesco, welcome to the channel! This depends on which model of Dell XPS you have. If you have The fullHD version, I think you would see the image grainy compared to the retina display. However, the 4K panel has a beautiful image. As I mentioned in the review, you need to make sure, your 4K display is calibrated, otherwise, the colors will look crazy saturated. Cheers!
Hey I'm wondering if the fans on the 9570 actually start spinning/running the moment the laptop is turned on? I've just taken the heatsink off and applied new thermal paste and made sure everything was all assembled carefully again, but I'm panicking because the fans aren't running when I turn the laptop on. But when I do a pre startup diagnostic test in the bios, the fans spin when the GPU/CPU test has been done.... 🤔
The Spyder is the easiest option. That wide gamut display of DELL XPS is very difficult to use without proper calibration. I had the colors all over the place when displaying the same pictures on different devices.
everything depends on which version of Dell XPS 9570. there is 4K touch display version; there is version with i5 or i7 or i9 (where big difference plays which generation of processor is installed). There is also 8GB of ram or 16GB, 32GB etc. I used similar Dell XPS 15 9560 and I must say it was great machine; aluminium and carbon fibre enclosure is much better than plastic and Dell laptop is very quiet and lightweight. Keyboard is great and graphics/display quality. The best laptop company in the market (with Windows computers)- Dell.
It depends on what do you intend to do with it. If you do l mostly office work for example xls sheets, mail, web, than sure 512+16 is enough. But for some more intensive workflows I would recommend at least 1tb + 32gb
Dude, you look soooo much better bald. Just lop it off already. If you try to hang on to that last stand of hair it looks really bad to be honest with you. But I covered your little strand of hair and you with a buzz cut would look sooo clean 🔥
DELL is stealing parts from computers ! Purchased a computer from Amazon and I am a victim of RAM disappearing from my laptop (while in repair). DELL = THIEVES!
This is the worst piece of shit I have ever owned. It's been having problems since day 1. I have the version with 4k touch screen, 16 GB RAM, i7 and geforce 1050 ti: - overheating - freezing - stuttering - high power consumption for nothing - microphone problems - audio jack problems - wifi problems - etc. Absolutely horrendous overpriced laptop. I bought a Lenovo Legion for 800 Euro which surpasses this one at every level except weight (500 grams heavier) and I can't believe how smoothly it runs compared to this crap.
