You need to drive a car that has been maintained properly , after 19 years most of them need some new bushings in the front suspension , wheel alignment etc , as well as full service of the transmission . Fact is they are a great car , ultra reliable bullet proof engine which provides a good blend of power and economy. Safety and features in the car still eclipse that of many new cars being sold today.

722.6 transmission is slow but it is reliable. Very reliable. It can handle tons more power so it is under-stressed in the C55. Interestingly, 722.9 7 speed was offered in the SLK55 with the same 5.4L M113. That would have been a great combination in the C55 but W203 was on the way out in 2007 so Mercedes stayed with the old transmission.

Looks like a lemon. C55 handles very well. Weak and strong point is gearbox. Engine is superior to M156 in terms of reliability. Car can be daily driven with regular oil changes but stuff will break due to age like any car

Okay so I’ve driven alot of different cars and owned a lot different ones as well. The c55 Amg is no e46 m3. But when I got mine I spent the money to have to dialed in. The front end bushings need to be replace and a alignment done on these cars whenever something suspension related goes. It’s well documented on the forums. Check bushings, alignment and tires. And you have a dialed in car. Now if you got into this thing expecting a e46 killer it ain’t going to happen handling wise. It’s a w203 with a big engine and slightly stiffer setup. great car if you find a maintained example. I looked at 3 before I bought mine. It handles like a luxury go kart. I prefer mine to E46 m3 for two big reasons. Reliability and comfort.

What was the mileage and has it been serviced

2004 steering rack was slow. AMG/Mercedes updated the rack for 2005 with quicker steering ratio.

Another dog c55 being reviewed as gospel, gives the model a bad name. Love you to try mine
