Thank you, for sharing your comments on how someone might want to start a relationship with American Express as a new card holder. My advise would be to, please start off the first year with their "Green" card with its annual fee of $150 and 40,000 Reward points. The second year, at renewal time ask for a welcome bonus to upgrade to the "Gold" card with 90,000 Reward points. The third year, at renewal time ask for a welcome bonus to upgrade your one American Express "charge" card to "Platinum" with its 125,000 Reward points. As for myself, I am not into the game of Rewards points. So, I have an American Express business "Plum" card (smile ... smile).
When I saw the title I immediately started wondering what was wrong with American Express because they're one of my favorites. So I clicked on the video to see potential problems that I hadn't known about as of yet and it seems you kind of like them a lot too. I don't know why I'm surprised; they are a wonderful card. Sure isn't what I was expecting though. I still watch through your video and enjoyed it too.
I have the personal AmEX Platinum. Hardly use it but for travel. Some places won’t accept. Certainly leave home without it. Thought about getting the Gold but pretty much meet/exceed points earned for most regular spend with my Chase CCs. Considering the business platinum. If so, will product change the personal. Have a 250k MR offer; however, the spend is $15k in 3 months.
That's actually not needed as you can always downgrade and receive the same sign up bonus. But if it is specifically stating new Lifetime language stating that, it could be new
@@zacrepinski are you referring to keeping the same account? That could make sense because it’s my understanding that you don’t get the sign up bonus with a new account but it sounds like you’re talking about downgrading the same account, right? This would work for me because I’m not sure I want a bunch of cards at once because of the fees. Thanks for clarifying. 👍🏽
@@enriquegonzalez6100 Yeah, the current lifetime language only states if you get the Plat before the gold you're ineligible to get the gold sign up bonus. It doesn't state that specifically with the green card at the moment. BUT if you wanted the green card after getting the Sub for the gold card and didn't want to pay the annual fee you can call in and ask for a sign up bonus to downgrade to the green. They won't offer it online, but if you call in, you can ask and negotiate for a sub to downgrade. Can do the same to upgrade but i recommend applying to the cards outright when there are all time high sign up bonuses as you will get larger subs applying vs asking for an upgrade.
Correct. $250 to $325 and will go into effect for anyone who applies from here on out and any current customers who's annual fee hits after October 1st
I didn't know that if you start with a business card they would do a hard pull if you apply for a personal card later on. I always thought AMEX did a hard pull on your first card regardless if personal or biz, and once approved they don't perform another hard pull. Good info. to know. Glad I started with a personal card. gbr
