For those of wanting to experience owning rabbits but are not sure they work with your lifestyle or you don’t know if you can commit to them for 10+ years then fostering is a great idea it is budget friendly as the shelter will provide everything from a x-pen to hay to toys and food. The only 5ing you need to provide is veggies and love💗 It is a great way to look after rabbits while they look for a new home and can be really rewarding , you can also see if a rabbit works in your lifestyle and is the right pet for you. The shelter also covers any vet bills and check ups. I fostered too harlequin dwarf lops from my local shelter about 1 month ago and it is great. I hope this helps some of you. Great video as always Victoria 💗
thank u for this video💗 im planning to get 2 bunnies in a few weeks but ive heard that dogs barking can cause them a heart attack☹️ i was unsure of getting them because my neighbours own 2 loud dogs that bark and whine a lot because they're always left outside, could you please help me decide whether i shouldnt or should get them despite this reason? 🥺 thank u!
@@kloe3225 . I personally own a very loud dog who is part jack Russell and part collie (explains the barking) and my rabbits have been fine with it but it is up to you whether you decide to foster them or not😀
Sorry I’m late! This really made me consider if I want a rabbit (still do😊) and I probably can’t get one until I’m an adult. I really want to cuddle them, but i might not get one that is cuddly. And I am 12, so in 6 years I’m going to college! Don’t know what I’d do with my rabbit. But love the buns! Bye!❤️🐰🐰
I’ve been wanting rabbits so badly these past few weeks and i’ve been researching a lot! I’ve realized that owning them wouldn’t be possible while I am owning my guinea pigs because it would be too expensive for me lol
To add onto the vet care, be sure that there is a rabbit savy vet in your area! Ask for credentials because cat/dog vets do not have the training for rabbit care/treatment/surgery etc. Despite my city have a couple exotic vets, none of the emergency (weekend/overnight) vets are rabbit savy.
This kind video is why my kids and I never miss a video. When we decided last year to get a pet I found your channel. I watched ALL your videos and learned that a hammy was right for us. I built him a giant IKea 900+ sq.in. tank. Also because of your videos this winter when Hemberly developed a respiratory infection I recognize it right away. I didn't take no for an answer about waiting two days to see a vet and was able, with the help of the vet, to save his life. All of this was because of you and your videos! I am also an elementary teacher and I have "taught" two teachers about Hamsters and both decided that a hamster in a small cage in a K and 2nd grade room would not be the best option for them or the animal. Thank you for all you do!
How are your bunny videos not popular?! They are the main reason I am subscribed ti your channel 🐰 great vid, bunnies are not toys to gift. I hope this video gets millions of views so that people make a smart decision when it comes to getting a bunny. 💛🐰🙏🏼
Excellent video, Victoria! You have really helped me with my hamster care, and research, and got me passionate about hamster care in the first place! Now my hammy is living in a cage that is 775sq inches, with 8 inches of bedding and plenty of enrichment! I can't thank you enough! 💕💕🐰🐹
I love how you do this types of videos, it's very important knowing if you can care and how to care for an animal. They're not toys, but living beings that deserves the best, even if don't like rabbits.
I'm so glad this video was made, a lot of rabbits are impulse-bought for easter (mostly for children who don't know how to handle rabbits), are kept in tiny hutches or cages outside, and many times are "released into the wild" a few days after easter where they die. I hope this kept at least one parent from making that decision, and saved a bunny's life.
I'm in the process of getting my own home all to myself and I would really like to adopt a bunny, and dedicate the whole room to them. I would be open to adopting siblings, so that (maybe/hopefully) they are already somewhat bonded. This video is going to help me decide what is best 🥰
Please be careful with siblings because they can start fighting when they get older. You can sometimes prevent it when you neuter them young but it is not a garantee. Look for a shelter/rescue that has older already neutred and bonded rabbits, those won't start fighting.
yay, I love whenever you post bunny videos! haha it’s crazy to think bunnies only molt twice a year when there’s always an endless amount of fur covering me 🥲
I never realized how similar they are to dog care as dogs will destroy things and you have to doggy proof your home before bringing them home. You have to groom them, they have to be monitored. I took care of rabbits when I used to pet sit I loved it but now I see those two rabbits did not have enough space and they passed away because these people owned hunting dogs and well the dogs got to them. Not the dogs fault definitely human error. Thank you so much for this video.
I am glad that people like you are already creating these types of videos to prevent impulsive buying around Easter. Rabbits are a 10+ year commitment, not a gift.
Hi there Victoria i am a past rabbit owner(my rabbit died around Easter)and I’m thinking of getting another rabbit and I have just recently got a hamster.I also have a dog who was used to my rabbit now.I am thinking of changing my room around so I have more space.I was just wondering if you still advise me getting a rabbit.Btw my rabbit would have the option to free roam and have a cage when ever x Ps:Love your channel
Bueno para serte sincera los conejos son la mejor compañía bueno para mi porque es genial el mío es súper súper sociable le encantan las caricias y cuando el quiere esta a todo y es un conejo muy muy bueno saludos desde Chile 💗💗
Great video, I remember my rabbits Pepper and snowy loved to cuddle. They would sometimes jump on the sofa and sleep right next to us 😊. Still an amazing video Victoria
I only pay $10 for a bale of hay that lasts over 2 months for my rabbits and I make my own litter out of shredded litter. sooooo ya it doesn't haft to cost that much.
I really want bunnies but I don’t think I have the money for hay or veggies are there any similar pets I have a hamster but she is a ghost hamster so I can’t interact as much
For those who rabbits are PERFECT pets for but do like traveling a few times a year, there's a great website called Trusted Housesitters where people come and stay at other people's houses and take care of their pets, while the pet owners are off traveling. It's a great way for the travelers to stay somewhere for free and for the pet owners to enjoy their trip knowing that their pets are being cared for and have someone at home with them. Of course this may not work for everyone and it's important to find a good fit for pet sitting on there, but just wanted to throw this out there. It works for pretty much any pets, not only rabbits.
I feel like you saw my comment….Lol! Thanks for the video! I’ll definitely think it over! I’m most likely going to get them when I’m older so i have some time to think about it! 💜💜 Love you Tori!!!!
I’m very happy you posted this video. I have been thinking about getting a rabbit but this video DEFINITELY changed my purspective and made me think about if that kind of pet would be good for me or not
An example of vet costs - it was $400 for my bun to be examined, have Sub Q fluids, a pain shot,a motility drug shot and an anti-inflammatory shot as well as all 3 meds to take home. Then 3 days later, $35 for de-wormer. Exotic vets are $$$.
this is a amazing video! i once wanted a rabbit! but they seem really expensive XD i now have 2 guinea pigs and 2 hamsters! hamsters can be really expensive as well lol
the allergies point is definitely a great one to bring up!! i had guinea pigs when i was younger and i never had allergies to anything before so that wasn’t even a thought in my mind when we got them. but it turns out i’m allergic to their dandruff and hair. though it’s not a detrimental allergy so we kept them for their entire life span
Video idea: Posting cat proper care since we are getting a cat very soon (you dont really post cat vids anyway) , btw this video is really useful for anyone who is getting bunny's for the very first time!
We have 4 guinea pigs and they are very similar to rabits as far as care, poop and life span. lol we learned as we went along. I wish we had watched videos like this. Great and informative video!
I’m not looking into getting a rabbit but I still watched your video and it’s really informative hopefully people take it into consideration all your knowledge and really think before getting a rabbit🐰🤞🏻💙
Hi Victoria I hope you are well, thank you for sharing this video with us. I was thinking about getting Rabbits. I know that they are a lot of work. But I'm willing to do it. If I can't own a Rabbit. I would consider fostering. I'm going to do my research. About taking care of rabbits. Take good care of yourself and your pets ❤ 💕
This has to do with hamsters. I have a robo hamster it’s her 2nd day with me. I’ve been excited and kind of scooped her up and snatched her 😬😬😬😬😬 I NEED HELP!! How do I get her to still love me/ redeem myself! Help!!! I’m going to try to tame it like normal but help!!!
Hi, this isn’t about bunnies but it’s about my hamster. He is consistently scratching himself and won’t stop. What is wrong with him? I just got him. I’m concerned about everything. Please respond. :)
I just wanted to say that your channel is absolutely amazing!! I love your rabbits and your hamsters 🐹 and they are all 100% happy with their life with you as their owner!!!!! I think that your channel is absolutely amazing because it just helps so many small rodents lives even more amazing so I also wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️❤️
My rabbit, Benjamin, who I recently adopted has never had hay before I got him. He doesnt want it and im worried he nay get overweight if he only eats pellets. I was thinking of taking out his pellets for a day so he hopefully tries it but I'm not sure if thats a good idea.
Could you include the option of keeping your rabbits outside and having a hutch they go into at night as I have my rabbits outside and I’d rlly like to learn about the benefits and disadvantages of keeping them outside in a rabbit proof garden
I love more bunny content! 🐰 I was recently gifted two baby rabbits for New Years by my dad. I was very thankful but also stressed because he had no idea what they needed. Luckily thanks to your videos and others in the community Tofu and Mochi are thriving because I learned the basics of care 💖 They’re hitting their 5 months soon and I’ve already begun planning their spaying with our vet. I’m a little worried but hope for a speedy recovery! Always love your videos, thanks girl! 💛
I'm really happy the community and me could help! All my rabbits who have been through the spay/neuter process have went amazing and healed really fast!
You should make a " how to convince your parents to get a bigger hamster cage" video because my parents never listen too me and say hamsters dont need that much space :(
Haha i use a newspaper, kost 0, i give a bag full of grass each day and they eat hay from the horse barn oh and they eat the veggies that we eat because we share it , they get science selective and that is the only money spend i think, plus all of the toys ofcourse.
My rabbit will end you if you try to pick him up to cuddle him. 🤣 You pet him on the floor on his time. Only. He's the best though. I just dream of hugging him.
One thing not many people mention is the mess! Not just chewing but the fact they poop all the time and everywhere! I've had my rabbit for 11 years, he has a litter tray and has learned to do most of his business in it but despite that I always have to vac up before bed. Before getting a rabbit, ask yourself if you are prepared to have to clean up lots and lots of rabbit poop every day. If you are younger and still live with your parents, be prepared to hear a lot of complaining about the mess aha. Of-course I'm sure its possible to fully house train a rabbit, but it will take a lot of work and dedication. (Like training a dog.)
Im going to get rabbits when my hamster dies. (Hes 2) and I already have 5 guinea pigs so i have hay already i love ur vids because i can always feel good about having good pet care :)
While I do find your videos really educational, could you please maybe include some pros in this list too? Similar to your rat video, I feel discouraged to take in a pet, being scared that I won't be the perfect owner. I'm planning to move for university and exploring the idea of getting an emotional support animal. At my parents house we have 3 dogs, one of which is mine, however he's a senior and I'm afraid that a move would be too stressful for him so I started exploring the idea of getting a new pet for after I move and settle down. My mental health is not the best and animals have always been a great comfort to me and I would love to adopt a pet to give it a new loving home just like I did with my current dog. It's really hard to find a suitable pet though 😔
How do I get my hamster to stop biting me and the kids! They are terrified of it! It’s got a lovely (large) home. We sit with it every night but it just attacks us!! All the time!
Hey! this probably isn’t the video i should be commenting on since this is about a hamster but it’s your most recent. I have a hamster, i got her like three days ago but i’m really worried. She seems to be sneezing excessively and it only started recently. I’m not sure what the problem is or what to do to help her. I was really hoping you could help me?
My dad raised a bunny and his family and he want to cook it and they also are raising it unproperly, im planning to adopt it, its just too harsh and i really have to :( if i can ill try to raise it as a kid (with my moms permission Also my house does grow vegetables! Its better to save money by growing and harvesting them
Hii I’ve had my hamster since November, and he’s still scared of me. When i try to open his cage, he always run and hides back to his burrow. My parents are scrict and wont let him free roam snd he’s always scratching the walls so im worried if he’s stressed out in the cage because he’s bored.
If your meaning 820 square inches of floorspace, than yes! Since the minimum is 400. I use Higgins Sunburst seed mix for my Syrians! Has a great variety in it!
you can’t guarantee 820 sq inches will be big enough - female Syrians will usually need a lot more and even some males will be stressed if there’s not enough enrichment. :)
Even though it is over the "minimum" (which doesn't really mean anything tbh) and fairly large in general, your hamster could still be stressed, especially if they're a syrian. You might have better luck with a dwarf hammy instead c:
@@lurpleispurple thank you! I already have a dwarf hamster in this size enclosure just wondering because I plan on getting a Syrian hamster in the future and was just wondering if I would need a bigger enclosure if I was going to get one
@@matildaboston5693 Yes I do agree that a bigger cage is always better, but personally owning both a male and syrian hamster. If your ever planning on owning a female syrian than i would definitely considering going with a bigger enclosure, since i had to upgrade for my female. Males in my opinion are not as needy and i think a male would be fine in that size of enclosure. But it does depend on the hamster. But a 820 inch enclosure is a good start for a male syrian!
Ok so my rabbit lives in a good size hutch and he goes out the hutch and into a big pen on the grass for all day and sometimes comes inside. Is that ok for my rabbit? (He’s a very small mini lop rabbit) and should I also get him a friend ?
I already have my rabbits but for a different reason. We didn't buy them. My aunt released them and most of them got caught by dogs. We saved the last one and got two more so it wasn't alone and so she didn't releaase anymore. But we have done a lot of research and we're still doing more.
No hamsters do not need to bathe in water- it can actually cause them to go into shock or get sick. Hamsters keep themselves clean by grooming and using sandbaths
I’m not sure if anyone else commented this but you could get hay from a local farmer. A bundle of hay (about 50-60lbs) is typically $8-$10. You could find organic hay(so no sprays or pesticides) save a lot of money!! Love this video! I was contemplating getting rabbits but I’m not sure it’s right for me at my current home now. ☺️
I feel like a rabbit when not be the right path for me because I travel a lot and I'm painting at the University next year so I probably would not on a rabbit
I wish I was a rabbit person. They're so cute and there are so many in the local shelters, but I don't think I have what it takes to give them their best life.
i've been wanting one because when i was buying things for my hamster in the pet store i saw a rabbit with a very very small cage, they were like half of the cage. i'm still considering because we have an empty room in our new house although it might take some time for me to actually buy one since i'm broke at the moment lmao
