For the timing question: What would you say for like young adults (14) who have split parents? I go to my dad for a week at a time vise versa. I already told my dad tho that i would obviously stay longer now since I would have a rabbit. He also agreed to feed my rabbit when I am not there. But what would you say for situations like this? I have everything else in order, but this is my only issue kinda.
@@faithrodriguez5695 i feel like it could definitely work if your dad is ok to be able to bond with the rabbit or even if you got 2 so it could have a friend while your away? But I don’t think taking it from your mum to your dads each week would be a smart idea it could stress out the bunny changing habitats each week
Thanks for keeping this episode REAL. If one cannot afford pet insurance ($350-$400/year), $30-$60/month in fresh coarse hay (for teeth health) and filtered water (to help reduce uti's/stones),, then now is not the time. It would be great if you did a video on selecting a rabbit breed because there are pros and cons,, and some are prone to more health issues $$$ - @monetbun
@@faithrodriguez5695 growing up I had a bun and would just keep it at my dads house,, going back and forth was becoming stressful on the bun. - @monetbun
My 6-yr-old free roam bunny fell in love with my 15-yr-old dog. She followed her in every direction, wanted to be with her at all times. But a year ago our dog sadly passed away due to her old age which we all are still grieving deeply. After that though time my friend contacted me and asked if their neutered boy bunny could come to live with us due to her husbands and sons allergies. So fast forward to this day: my two bunnies are now in love, happily living their best life in our moderate size apartment. ❤️ I am still grieving for my dog, but I am so glad that my baby girl got a new friend after she was quite frankly depressed after her doggy friend crossed the rainbow bridge. ❤️
You're my fav bun ytber because my bun has changed SO much from your tips! I started giving him (hoppers) oxbow digestive biscuits and it helps him so much! I ordered my forage mix by bun mom makes and and it arrived yesterday. You're a true dream bun mom and so nice! Thank you so much!! P.S. Can you think about making a "reacting to my subscribers bun habitats?" Thanks! 💗🐰
How do you think my bun will go from being free roam to one room to a whole floor, we are doing this in august and I’m so excited! I just don’t know how she will react ❤️
I love the way you are upfront telling people that if they need to cage a bunny, they shouldn’t have a bunny... and if they don’t have plenty of time for a bunny... don’t get a bunny ♥️ Amen sister... love your channel 🐇
I had a dog and cat before I got my rabbit. And instead of them trying to attack my rabbit, the dog is fine with him and will just smell him. But my rabbit and my cat are like best friends🤣 They love running around the house together.
I got my bunny impulsively. Well I was looking for a small companion animal. She’s a happy bunny now, no cage, litter trained, she was abused by a child in the previous family so I never pick her up. I train her to be comfortable around me for now and we’re making a great progress. She’s sitting on my lap and follows me everywhere. It’s only been 2 weeks
This is extremely well thought out content, and obviously passionate and caring. I'm not in a position to have pets atm, but I'd like to have a bunny one day. I'll be researching your channel when the time comes. Really good stuff.
@@perlenedelacruz7747 yea, it is, but if you want only one you have to give it a lot of attention or it’ll lose the bond or become aggressive, I’d recommend getting two
I was thinking about getting a bunny this September but this video really helps me to think about it more. Maybe I’m not really ready, I want my bunny to be happy and to free roam but I don’t have the space for it because I’m still living at home. You’re right, they are a living being so it’s important that they are fully cared for and loved and have their safe space. Thank you!
I made the mistake in high school of getting a bunny, and when I moved away during college, my parents had to keep him, and I always felt bad about that. Thankfully he had a nice set up in our yard where he could run and play in the grass. We had cats too that would visit my bunny and hang out with him outside of his play pen. Now, as an adult with my own house I am considering getting two rabbits again, but doing it right this time 😅 I have a very friendly cat who has a species-specific disease, so we can’t get another cat, but I want him to have a companion. Maybe bunnies would be the next best thing?
I’ve been really wanting to get a bunny and I go to school for 8 hours per day. I’d get a spacious play pen and have the bunny there during that 8 hours, but then let the bunny free range in my room while I’m at home (basically the whole afternoon after 4) Would that work?
yes thank you for making this!! some ppl just don’t get it. crazy rabbit story of the day: my rabbit ate chocolate anD foil. for some reason chocolate wrapped in foil was just on the ground and she ate more than half of it plus the foil. my mom wouldn’t let me take her to the hospital. she was fine tho! also if the parents say no to free roaming they don’t need to be in the ENTIRE house. they could chill free roam if i’m ur room! also if t hrye say no to that, tell them they g to you this rabbit and it’s their responsibility to give this bunny a quality life.
hi morgan! i would love a video about the pros and cons of having a single rabbit!! i've had my bun for almost 2 years and shes super happy but i wonder if i'm doing something wrong by not getting her a partner. since CB is also a solo bunny, i would love to hear your thoughts on this!!!
Can’t wait till I get a rescue rabbit(s)! I would really like them soon but I don’t think it will happen this year, but oh well gives me time to buy everything I need over the next year or so! Wonderful video!
No I haven’t yet like I thought it is going to be a while before I will get some but will continue to prepare and see when it’s a good time/when I'm properly ready for owning rabbits again! 😊
Great but because no one wants us to have rabbit I can’t find any anywhere and I can’t have kids and I wanted at least one dream yo come true turns out they don’t come true can’t have kids can’t have bunnies cats are impossible to find…. So looks like all the rescue get they animals and we get none…. I will never own a rabbit and it’s very damaging since I literally can’t have kids
Thankfully, my parents have agreed that when we get a new house and land we’ll look to see if the house has a whole room for the rabbit. They’ve also agreed to save up to get all the supplies for a rabbit.
Mine only chews hay. For now. I think she didn’t have unlimited hay where she used to live. She was underweight, slowly gaining weight now. So she’s obsessed with hay. I got her different kinds too Oxbow brand, she loves it. Timothy hay mostly but I spoil her and mix in some other
I really want a rabbit but I have school 5 days out of 7 but my mom and sometimes my dad stay at home for work so is that ok and good for a potential rabbit pet? I also have one cat but she is terrified of everything and was not the dominant cat when I still had 2, she can't even hunt she just runs away so I don't think it will be an issue, in fact the bunny will probably become dominant ngl.
What do you think about traveling with your rabbit and do you have any tips? I am going to a basketball tournament and want to take my bun what should I do?
I have chinchillas that would probably be in the same room if u got a bunny but I’m not sure if it would work so if you could answer the would be a life saver
No shade, but I had a bit of a laugh. Since when does a rabbit HAVE to roam and live inside permanently….? What if you are a breeder or you have several show rabbits. What do those people do. Keep 20+ rabbits indoors roaming freely…? Like it’s cool if you wanna do that, but as long as the cage is a decent size (kept indoors or out) and the rabbit is allowed out for runs during the day everyday, what is wrong with that. People crate their dogs when they go out for a couple of hours a day. I really think people overthink things these days.
If not spayed and neutered they will reproduce very quickly. Female rabbits can carry 2 pregnancies at once, can immediately become pregnant after giving birth and they only gestate for around 30-35 days. And within 3 or 4 months of birth those babies will probably mate with each other.
I might get a bunny but I have cats and I’m putting it in a cage and then free roaming it while I’m there and I’m also going to close my door and also put a blanket over it’s cage
I used to have a little bun. Her name was Chloe. I had her for 4 years (she died when I was at 4H camp in 5th grade, mom didn't care for her) She would sleep in bed with me. She mostly litterbox trained. She was the most precious lil bean.
I have 2 buns. When I was younger I kept buns in cages because I didn’t know any better. None of them were spayed or neutered and unfortunately passed away too young. As an adult I know better. I’ve sought to educate myself on correct rabbit care. Both my buns have their own room, separate x pens as not bonded and one is recovering from her spay. Regular visits to my vet for checks, teeth and vaccinations.
On the subject of other pets with your rabbit, I agree it is totally situation dependent. We have two family cats, my sister's dog, my hamster, snail, and bun Frankie. I keep my pets in my room, where they're safe from the pup and cats. People are always asking me why I don't introduce the other animals to Frankie.... 1. I don't want them to hurt him 2. I don't want him to hurt them 3. ....There's no benefit to Frankie being exposed to animals that would cause harm just because that's what they were designed to do. idk if you ask me, introducing your bun to other pets just isn't worth it. I am getting a backpack carrier so I can take Frankie out with me when it warms up :) So he can be safe and see the sights.
hi I love your videos, can you please make a future video that goes in-depth about where to put your rabbit and where its home base should be once they are free roamed, or even when they are not, if you can't make this happen I understand but it would be really helpful if you could
I work daily and come home around 5 but I sometimes leave for 3 hours to go practice. But my Mom is home all day so will being with my Mom and little brother good? Also I don’t practice all the time 😂😂 but I’m always home other than that
Do you have a resource to reference for approximate costs for spaying/neutering and how much per month should be set aside? Do bunnies need monthly preventative medication the way dogs need heart worm medication? Thank you 🙏
Corpuscular does not mean they are busiest at night. They are busiest at dawn and dusk..NOT at night! And bunnies are adaptable with regard to sleep schedules. However Morgan is right about the time commitment. I spend 8 hours a day. As far as spaying and neutering, Morgan is not correct on that BunnyLuv Foundation, ASPCA have free or low cost spay and neutering. Look to see if there are foundations that can help. Bunnies generally only live about 9 years so Morgan is wrong again about the 10 years..but yeah, they are little souls..not to be thrown out.
Honey… my rabbit is fcking happy in her cage… i put her out of the cage, she’s playing a bit and them lets me know that she wants to go in the cage. She is literally begging me to put her in the cage :).
Ugh i want a bunny so f-ing bad, but at the moment i have 2 dogs and they chase at any bird or opossum that enters my back yard. I'll just have to enjoy my dogs while i can before i can even think of bringing a bunny home
I have a question! I’d love a bunny and have the space for it but I kinda work a lot. I work 50 hrs a week- 5days a week. Would he be sad if he didn’t have a bunny friend while i’m gone or will he be fine? I really only want one but i wouldn’t want him to be miserable while my partner and i r away?
I have a dog, but what if I get a bunny and I separate them by a door(I have a gate in my hallway so the dog won't be able to go up to the door). Would that be okay?
I’m getting a bunny when my hamster dies because I 1. Have space, and have done research 2. Want a bunny And my mom says its good because they live for so long
My cat has been very good with all the prey animals I've brought into the house...parakeets, ducklings, a chicken, and now bunnies. I think she's used to me bringing them in by now.
What if my family already bought and has a cat but the cats space is the basment and the bunny would be mine in my room and i know how that sounds but i have a large room that can have 3 queen beds in the room thats the amount of space the bunny would have to run around
I want to get a bunny but i have a cat, do you think they could get along, i can let it in the house, my mom wouldn't have a problem, i can give him a lot of attention, my cat is friendly but i dont know if the bunny would get along
I have a lot of fish and 2 bunnies they always climb some where to see them in the tank they once spilled the fish food I left opened and took me 1 hours to sweep all the food away :'(
Hi guys! I am going to buy a bunny next year, but need some advice. How do you guys deal with if you need to go on a weekend trip? This wouldn't be something that would be happening often; maybe every other month, but I want to make sure I understand everything about my lifestyle and caring for a rabbit before I bring it into my life. Thanks!
My pineapple cinnamon green cheek conure costs money her food her toys and tons of time she reslly bonded to me an considered a pray animal I don't think a bunny would be a problem
Fairly new bunny owner here. I got mine at the beginning of February. I had already planned on getting them (I have one doe and one buck, both a few months old) spayed and neutered. I found my bunny vet on the house rabbit society list of recommended veterinarians. I anticipated the cost for hay, food, toys, bedding, as well as clean up a few times a week. I anticipated potential chewing to cause damage to my home and the items I own. Something I didn't anticipate was malocclusion in my Netherland dwarf (This is my fault, as I researched potential illnesses and issues across all bunny breeds, but not specifically for my ND). So on top of a $179 neuter, and a $329 spay, I'm also going to be paying $600 on Friday for a complete front incisor extraction. Otherwise I would have to pay $30 to $90 every 3 to 4 weeks to have his teeth trimmed. I'm not saying this because I want sympathy. I'm just sharing because I want people to be aware of what they get into. you can get an animal for really cheap, but be sure you also create space within your finances and your emotional and mental capacity to be able to handle what responsibilities come with that animal. All of my animals are mine for life. I don't plan on rehoming them because of illnesses or behavioral issues.
What the heck, how expensive is it where you live! 0.0 Getting a boy neutered is max 70€ here and for a girls it ranges from 120-180€ in my area. 🙈 Also my vet found that the teeth of my boy had to be done when my bun was in to get neutered and he just did it for free :)
These past few years I've debated whether to get 2 guinea pigs or a rabbit and in the end I went to a place with the intention to get the pigs. But then I saw the sweetest bunnies and I ended up getting one. Best decision ever. So much cleaning but so worth it!
I really would like to foster a bun to see how I kinda do with taking care of it and if it works out. And also just to help out the shelter too, yah know? But other than that i think i would do great. I don't plan on going to college at all and when I move out of my moms I am DEFINITELY taking the bunny with me.... I would never trust my mom with a rabbit.... I know WAYYYYYY more about buns than she does lmao. My sister did leave her bunny with our mom when SHE moved out and it was not good 😬.....never ever would I do that
Hey! I am in love with your bunny soooo much! I am in the procces of begging my parents for two! This video is very useful! I know i might be a bit late to watch this but i do have a question.... If im away for school 6-7 hours everyday except for weekends and i do sports twice a week, but my bunny has another bunny to play with during the day, (they would be free roamed)..... Anyways, would that be okay?... Thanks!
