We actually like the casino floor and vibe..yes, food choices not great, but you can easily walk to the other properties for better choices..we normally get the pyramid suite... room is super large, a bit dated, but we love it👍👍 And come on, there's just something about walking inside Luxor that makes you feel like your at Disney...it's a pyramid!! We're else can you stay that makes you feel like a far away country... great video guys...And the suite has way more hangars and closets 👍👍👍
I stayed at the Delano last year around summer. First time being in Vegas as an adult. I was kind of surprised how early things close in the properties. For example, food and restaurants. I mean, I don't live in a busy town and most of the establishments close later than the ones in Vegas. Also, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur and Luxor just feels like one big resort. They just feel like different sections.
That’s a great way to put it, like one giant connected resort. We have seen the hours slowly come back over time for food options, it is better but Vegas is not as 24/7 as we want to imagine anymore
Good review of the Luxor. I got a room there to use my free play/resort credit one trip when I was staying at Cosmo. My friend said the room was nice. They got the old Bellagio furniture in the renovations so quality but older. The room was on the ground floor so I didn’t get to ride the inclinator but that sounds like it was ok The casino floor is surprisingly good; I love the vibe. Mandalay is huge and spread out, while Excalibur feels cheap. Luxor finds the right mix. I wouldn’t stay there unless it was my only option for a comp from MGM but I enjoy playing there.
@@travelmanMN I think all three have a comparable slot machine selection. The floors are laid out very differently so it really comes down to the vibe. That said, Excalibur made a lot of renovations in the last year that Luxor did not, so I think the two floors feel more similar than they did previously. Mandalay is a bit larger than those two, but they’re all pretty close in gaming floor size
Just had a five night stay there early last month..from a standard king room, I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite (1700+sq/ft of space), and I'm only at Gold level..the walk from room to self parking lot was quite a step, but worth every minute of my stay//
how was your stay? We are flying down from Edmonton Canada in a month. We've stayed at MGM Grand, and New York New York. This time we choose the Luxor due to a mgm rewards offer I had at Sapphire tier. 4 comp nights and $7/day resort fee in a pyramid premier room. We are staying for 5 nights at a total cost of $54 and change.
I love the inside of the Luxor. When it comes to lodging, I stay at Motel 6 on Tropicana because they don’t charge Resort fees. Unless I get Comp Night stays like I do at Sam’s Town, I’m staying where they leave the light on for me. 😂
Haha no problem there. We generally stay where we have comps and luckily don’t have resort fees with MGM properties. Nothing wrong with saving a few bucks to save for entertainment and food!
Prior to the pandemic, Luxor was our go-to home away from home every January for my wife's birthday trip. We always got a pyramid room, and generally had decent stays there. We got one of these rooms once as an upgrade, and it was nice, though barely decorated as yours was. We bought some comet cleaner to clean out the bathtub to enjoy it, and she ended up with a UTI anyway. On that same trip, we ate at the buffet (very disappointing) and I ended up with cold sores on both sides of my lips from drinking out of a glass. Definitely one of our more memorable trips 😂 😂 All in all though, we were more comfortable there than any of the other properties we tried during Summer trips (we went twice a year for a couple of years to bring the kids). While we are certainly blessed to be able to stay in any of the resorts, we too enjoyed the vibe at Luxor over the more hoity-toity properties, like Bellagio, Paris, Venitian, etc.; too stuffy and pretentious-seeming for our tastes. We hope to visit again soon, but secluded cabin get-aways are more our speed now. Vegas has changed quite a bit, and is attracting a completely different clientele right now; hopefully it'll return to it's former self in a few years.
I do have decent luck in the Luxor Casino... I agree we had the same room but 2 doubles, and it was so dark... and the living room side's air didn't work very well and it was super hot over there. As far as coffee cups... we buy a pack of the disposible ones from the grocery store to take with us... then Scott can take his coffee to go and not worry about carrying a coffee cup around all day. The inclinator made me queasy every time we went down. Not up, just down... it was weird!
We definitely are opening our minds to trying more lower to mid tier spots when we can book Wynn, we really enjoy the North and South ends of the strip
Stayed there a couple years ago. Stayed in a 2 br, 2 1/2 bath room in the tower. It was big (I think 1450 sq ft)..but that's about it. Even though newer than the pyramid, pretty dated. Just kind of boring. One of the sinks was stopped up, but they came to fix pretty quick. Dining was what you said. Public house was pretty good and cheap...but it could have been any sports bar in any city in the country. Nothing "vegasy" Diablo never opened. The Cafe, crazy lines...decent breakfast. Pool was huge. 1st day all the chairs were taken, so reserved a day bed the 2nd day to be safe for $150 I think. Would have been fine, except that next morning they took jackhammers to 2 of the pools, so it was loud af, and obviously 2 were closed, so they stuck us over by the kiddy pool, which almost drowned out the sound of the jackhammers. I understand they were refurbing the pool, which needs to be done...but they could have mentioned it when I reserved the day bed or booked the room. Would have gone to mandalay. Had someone do the "you're platinum...how's things" call too, which was nice, but I mentioned the pool. Wasn't mad, just said they should probably tell you beforehand. They apologized and said they'd refund the day bed (which I only lasted about 20 min at...she stayed a couple hours) and add $100 to my resort credit. Very nice of them, but neither happened. It's tough to complain when it's comped, but could have had a much nicer 2 br suite at Delano or mandalay. Wasn't a horrible stay, but unlikely to ever go back. If it wasn't comped and I was paying, maybe...but think there are better options in that range.
Well hello there!! Back in the day, their buffet was pretty good. I've stayed there before and it was pretty fun. I was probably drunk most of the time but I still remember it. LOL! Hope you're having a nice relaxing Sunday!!
How much was your massive win?!! Thank you for a GREAT video!!!!! I watched it twice!!!! I'm staying at Luxor b/c I got four eves comped, then Caesars and Aria for some eves. This video is EXACTLY what I was looking for: the dining, the casino floor, and room tour. THANK YOU!!!!
I’m contemplating a stay at Luxor if my budget doesn’t work out to stay at Bellagio, Aria or Park MGM. I’ll definitely have to book a tower room though because the inclinator is a hard pass for me. I have a slight to moderate case of vertigo and I’d probably pass out. I need my elevator ride to be smooth and quick or I start to get nauseous and dizzy.
I always stay at the Luxor because it's the only casino on The Strip that has the classic "Alien" slot-machine, and is in a big cabinet. The only other place I've found it is at MGM, but it's in the high-limit area.
Great review guys! Another classic property. I first visited Luxor back in December 1993 when it first opened. I was only 16 but blown away. The Sega Arcade was my favorite! It’s really changed a lot since then.
Very cool! Thanks so much Matt, my first time was 2005 strangely it seems quite similar for me. I wish it would have kept the river ride part and just go full on Egyptian again.
I'm going to stay there next month for 3 nights. How long would you say the walk from there to NY NY? Should I walk or should I take the tram? Is the tram 24hrs? Thanks in advance
The tram has had weird hours ever since 2020 with COVID restrictions, I’m not sure if it has gotten back to 24 hours honestly, we would typically walk from Luxor to NYNY over the Tram. The tram can work out if you time it perfectly but only one of the two teams stop at Luxor and you might catch it on the way to Mandalay Bay and have to wait on it to go to MB then back to Luxor then Excalibur and that’s if it running. The walk to Excalibur is t that bad and we find it easy enough to do that than to ever mess with the Tram. From Mandalay Bay it can be nice though at times
I still haven't stayed at Luxor after all my years of going to Vegas. I haven't played there in years, ever since they got rid of my favorite old school machine called Neptune's Kingdom. It was a good vibe back then and I always won there. Their buffet is pretty meh, trying to be nice...ut sorta sucked! 😅
Haha I would’ve guessed simple would be a way to describe the buffet for sure. Luxor sure isn’t gonna win a beauty contest but there is a place for it in Vegas I think
Problem is when they updated the rooms they put a 1/2 a shower door in it doesn't work correctly the water gets all over the floor. And I don't like that because being having one need. That's really bad you can easily slip they should've left the doors on
I've always wanted to heave a bowling ball over the rail on the 26th floor LOL. I carried one in there back in 2017 but everyone was looking at me all weird and stuff, so I left. Why are people so judgmental ?
@Josh and Rachael's Food and Travel Granted these stays were back in 2002 and 2007 and things might be better, but the location sucks. The buffet was awful. Housekeeping did a lousy job. No luck in the casino. For a little more $$$ you can stay at NYNY or Park MGM and have a much better experience.
We would definitely pick Park over Luxor 9 out of 10 times. Love that location and the smoke free. Rooms aren’t special but definitely beat the dated pyramid
We have not. An issue with Tropicana for us is that it is not affiliated with much else in Las Vegas that we want to stay at, we like gambling where we stay and if we aren’t getting comps that cross to other properties we enjoy we generally stay away, it does have a decen casino floor but does look quite dated
Unsure if you are askingg go for fried or roasted so a couple chicken options. the Bedford by Martha Stewart and Wally’s have whole chickens and Yardbird might be the best fried chicken we have had on the strip - MamaBird best overall fried chicken but off strip
The Luxor is a budget hotel and offer a lot for the price point. My only caution I was hesitant to stay during a Raider game. It was what I expected trashy ghetto fans acting a fool and even a fight on the casino floor. Spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer to avoid that crowd during a Raider game.
I would rather stay at circus circus. Even the free room upgrade wasn’t enough to make up for this terrible hotel. It’s beautiful on the outside but shitty on the inside
I would stay there if they didn’t charge so damn much for Resort Fees which I get it. Most properties in Vegas do, but when you’re in Vegas, you don’t spend much time in the room but to sleep and shower.
