I've owned this watch for over a year. I bought it secondhand from a pawnbrokers and have been delighted with the performance and had no issues with visibility or excessive reflections in bright light. The movement maintains an exceptional timekeeping, which more than justifies its existence.
Imo one of the best watches ever. I have the same one. I own more expensive pieces, but this thing is a beast. Water resistance, sapphire crystal, design, and brand heritage. Can’t beat it.
Thanks for the video. This watch was my very first Swiss watch at the beginning of my collecting journey, in 2016. It's been a fantastically reliable watch and for the longest while it was my daily driver. Subscribed to get you on your 1K journey too. Best of luck.
This Hamilton KF 38mm wears comfortable on wrist. I totally agree on your 1st point about the dome crystal which is very reflective and it bothers me a lot and Lum is also bad. It will be perfect with AR coating, I sold it away after 3months. Great for sharing.
This is my first serious watch and over many years it is still in my collection. A special watch indeed for all kinda of watch enthusiasts / collectors.
😀Good video without boring specifications. I think Hamilton installs non AR crystal on purpose, bc with mirror polished bezel the watch catches more attention and is not really meant to be a field watch but every day for all occasions watch. It's my favorite and I own both 42 and 38mm versions. For a field watch, I'd go for a titanium version even though has the same crystal 😁
I have this watch on the steel bracelet for well over a year as my daily. It’s been on my wrist cycling, hiking, hunting and at my job. Loses about 4 seconds a day and I love it. For more formal events I throw on a black leather with white stitching strap from Barton straps co. This watch looks amazing on a black strap. A lot of complaints about the lack of AR coating. I use my watch for what it was made for, as an adventure everyday do it all watch and any reflections never prevented me from seeing the time at a glance in the real world. If anything it shows that I have a high quality timepiece.
Great to hear! Have you been swimming in it much? The internet says it has water issues but you know how that goes…would love to hear from someone who uses it as intended. Thanks
Just saw one at winners in Saskatchewan for $599. Had a nylon double pin clasp strap and it was in the darker type of olive green. Pretty nice beautiful case back. Those ETA movements last 15-20 years before they need service, my Tissot from 2003 had the ETA
Yea eta movements are reliable and any watchmaker can service them, unfortunately with the new H10 and powermatic 80 movements you pretty much have to go to Swatch group
One of (if not) the best under 1k, the price is subjective. Its a great size, great quality, I'm always happy when I look down at it. Its a strap beast, can fit into any occasion. I'd take this over a Longines or Seiko if i had to choose one watch. Lack of IR coating can be a little annoying but thats such a minor gripe and can easily be swapped out. I'm super stoked with mine.
My crystal broke on a hard tile floor...replacement is $45 plus what your watchmaker charges. You can find an acrylic for $5 and works pretty well, less reflection and good distortion if you find it domed..
Great video. The highly reflective dial is the only thing that bothers me a bit about this watch but overall, I love mine. Dial is beautiful and mine is extremely accurate so I guess I got lucky. Only half a second slow per day. It is very comfortable on the wrist. Get the 38mm for medium to small wrist.
I have worn this watch for almost 10 years now. Mine is an older version that has the brown leather strap with beige stitching as well as an ETA-2824 that has the higher beat rate. Still looks amazing. Not too beat up, strap definitely shows a little wear but still nice, like new as far as the dial and crystal goes. Still keeps great time, will take her in for a service soon. Bought it for less than $400 back then
Yeah I plan on keeping mine forever too, actually should have mentioned this in the video but I bought this watch to celebrate a milestone and my mom helped me choose it, so ya I'll never get rid of this one ❤️
Good points. I have owned this watch for 7 months and in my experience the lack of AR is not a problem. High contrast and legible numerals make it easy to read the time and I've never had problem with that. The bracelet... it's awful. Harsh edges, no microadjustment, overall design with double center link. If I knew it I would buy it on a strap and save some money. I paid almost double of what you've paid and I still think that this is good deal, especially that you can save money on that terible bracelet and even more when getting a quartz Have a good day :)
Thanks for watching! The lack of AR only bothered me for the first few days and then I got used to it. As for the bracelet 100% agree with everything you said lol
I got my KFM last year for around 400USD on a leather nato, just before the price hike (very lucky). Yes, the crystal is quite reflective but other than that it a great little watch, even the modest 50m water resistance is not bothering me much (I have a Casio Duro for the beach and the pool). It is very slim, no date (big plus in my book) and winding it is a joy.
Congrats on your purchase! (especially before the price hike lol) I hesitated between the KFM and the auto but chose the auto because I'm too lazy wind and I need a date haha
@@ganck1147 Crystal times USA usa.crystaltimes.net/shop/products/ct098-hamilton-khaki-field-38mm-double-dome-sapphire-crystal/ Lemme know if you do it! Would love to see the results !
I will buy this watch and I like the shining how much cost a new bracelet please and it isn't not 1000 euro it is 550 euro what you are talking about really.
I have a similar one but in Titanium. Bought it for about $1000. Worn it for about two months and then suddenly the dial went upside down. I sent it to service and they told me that the dial feet were broken because of shock. Fair to say there was no visible shock, maybe I hit the watch to the table when I was raising my hand (is it shock though?). So this case hasn't been covered by warranty and it cost me another $500. Absolutely disappointed in Hamilton.
its a beautiful watch if you dont care about the reflective dial (it doesnt bother me, dial is great imho) ....very comfortable ,very accurate, iconic ,80 hours power reserve, good brand...this guy is a price/performance monster
@@sathira_anuk5179 I can smell salty tears right there..😆 no, no smart boy it's a real one with box, papers, guarantee etc no doubt of the authenticity don't worry..🙄 (Plus I'm not even sure that fakes Hamy's even exist to begin with)
I can see the the time just fine at 4 a.m. after going to bed at 9 or 10. Why would you want a very bright lume on a field watch?? You want enough for you to see, but not enough to ever reveal your position or affect your night vision. Very bright lume is for dive watches, IMO.
@@NorthernWatchClub yeah but in some way, we buy watches based of their legitimacy in their field. almost none of us is a pilot, a diver or a secret agent but we crave for their lore and quality control
I got mine for 500 CAD cash with the bracelet second hand. If only I could go a few years back and buy it for that price new! Oh well, it’s my first Swiss watch and still feels like a massive upgrade from my Seiko “DressKX” with the 4R36 movement. The chrome bezel has some minor scratches but I feel like that would happen within a few months of wearing, otherwise the case is pretty clean and I’m quite happy with my decision. (One nice thing about buying it used is that I am less worried about dinging or scratching it lol, makes for a better daily) Only nuisance with this model is that damn lack of micro adjusts - I’m going to take it to a watch repair shop to see if two more holes can be drilled because I have the same fitment issue but I really want to wear it with the bracelet! Right now I have it sized slightly too big but it still wears quite nicely.
@@colslw760 yeah I stopped wearing it on the bracelet because of the lack of micro, I think I'll bring it to a repair shop to see if they can drill some extra holes too
