Thanks Tom. I do woodworking as a hobby and use Festool’s tools. When it comes to the price you are right it is high. But I compare it to a couple of concert tickets since it is so enjoyable to work with Festool tools.

Thanks Tom. Very helpful review. I use the same Dewalt sander you have & agree that the vibration is severe after more than 20 or 30 mins. I’ve used the 5” version of the Festool sander. It’s almost too good to be true how almost unnoticeable the vibration is by comparison.

I have this sander and love it. You nailed it saving time. I'd spend $1000 or more on a sander if it saves me a good amount of time sanding. Price is only a con for this sander until you actually use it. Then you feel like you ripped festool off. I have two festool sanders (this one and an RTS 400), a tracksaw and one of their dust extractors. Working within the festool ecosystem has saved me a ton of time and frustration in the shop. The TS-55 track saw and a dust collector were my start down the Festool rabbit hole about thirteen years ago. You won’t regret the purchase (though your wallet might). It’s great for breaking down plywood sheets and beats trying to wrestle them to the table saw, and with careful measurement yields very accurate cuts.

Hello, I looked and tried it at our dealership in Ottawa. It was really smooth and comfortable as well, but I didn’t like the fact that you have to depress the paddle all the time. That being said, it is the same quality as Festool and can’t go wrong with either one. Cheers.

Mirka, I bought two of them, never again. Both burnt out within the first year, turned out it's not recommended for lower grit sandpaper

Thank you for the video. I have the dewalt was looking to upgrade. I have a small home based work shop and do a lot of sanding. Would you recommend a festool over a drum sander?

Hello and thank you for your question. It depends what you are looking at doing. If you are a home based business selling cutting boards or an assembly line of products, then I would invest in a Drum Sander. That being said, they serve different purposes. I build cutting boards as well but don't sell enough to have a drum sander. A drum sander also allows you to sand thin pieces of wood under 1/8" i.e. making acoustic guitars etc.. I hope this helps. I have the Milwaukee ROS and decided to go with the 150 Festool sander for faster rough sanding. First thing I noticed is that the difference in vibration is minimal. After 15 to 20 minutes of sanding the switch failed and I had to finish the project with my Milwaukee sander. Festool is in for repair. Don’t think I will be buying many more expensive green and white tools.

Thanks for the overview. I have this on order, but as far as sanding pads go, you can use non Festool pads. I’m planning on using 3m Xtract pads with the protector pad. But any 150 mm or 6” mesh pad can be used.

I would take a second look at that before repeating that statement again. Not all sanding pads are created equal. Nor do they have the same pattern for the extraction

@@edwardminchinton7347 Thank you kind sir, but do you not understand the concept of mesh sandpaper? There are micro holes throughout. Yes I know you can’t just plop any sandpaper on, and even Festool makes a mesh. I’m 25 years deep in this and have a business in woodworking. I think I understand the statement I made very well. hi everyone . i recomend flex ore 150-5, all same festool features and cost of 300€. i do have rectangular flex ose 2, which was half the festool price .im hobbys too.

I don't get the Festool is only worth it for "pros" argument, as a DIYer doing house renovations I wish I had invested in decent tools sooner. A TS 60 was my first upgrade into Festool, the time it saves in quicker, more accurate cuts and dust cleanup is worth it over the few hundred saved from the DeWalt saw I was using prior. I also have that same DeWalt sander, I dislike the vibrations and the dust collection is terrible (dust is a huge issue if you don't have a dedicated workshop and have to sand in your living space), the power button is mushy and often difficult to turn off once started. Wish I had just gone with a Festool from day one. Buy cheap, buy twice..

I have the same sander and I love it they do make great tools but there sandpaper is crap you should try 3m extract you won’t be disappointed you do have to buy the thin pad to make it hold they are cheap and it helps prolong the life of you main disc

If you are going the pneumatic route, Dynabrade is what the professionals in this area use. If you have a large enough compressor, pneumatic is the way to go.

I have both. The dewalt is not underpowered. Most hobbyists woodworkers run them at the highest speed. Which isn’t necessarily. Not to say the festool is not a better choice but your reasoning is flawed.

Hello and thank you for your input. My main reasoning for the Festool is the vibration. The De Walt i find underpowered because it gives the illusion that it is spinning but if you put some pressure on it, it only vibrates back and forth and doesn't turn. It looks like it is turning but it isn't. That being said, I should have left out the power and focus on the vibration. Thanks again for the comment!

@@Toms_Woodworking_and_Carpentry not disagreeing with your review. Just pointing out that most think that the sander needs some high speed to work correctly when in fact it is the least important. Like you said vibration and dust collection are more important. Adding dust collection to my orbital has made more than anything else.

I have bothe this and the DeWalt cordless, the DeWalt has more power but the festool is much more ergonomic and smoother. Vibration is only slightly less then my dewalt
