Glad you enjoyed! Yeah we're not big fans of the overly saturated tourist areas. Of course we'd like to see them for ourselves if it's something unique but otherwise we like seeing what a place is really like. Very little is "off-the-beaten-path" at this point, but if we can lean that way we will

Hey man, thanks for your support. Technically, I was an MC with the diver certification. Basically I got to go through dive school and training with those guys, but my job was mainly to take photos of them underwater. Still pretty cool, I think. Just don't want to discredit Navy Divers by claiming the rate outright

came in clutch. We sat there questioning it for about 30 mins because it just seemed too good to be true, but there were no signs or anything. Think it might have been tan old overflow lot for the base

@@TheDetourDuo I've lived in KW full time for the past 2 years and I work at the base. That free parking you discovered is not associated with NAS Key West. It's just free parking. Parked there this morning to walk up to RAM HEAD's Southernmost for breakfast. For 1st time tourists, that's a great find on your part.

I love the keys. I try to go once a year. I often stay in key west when I go. The best time of year to go is probably towards the end of high season which is in the first couple of weeks of April. Not too hot, and def not cold. The water temp is around 80 and the locals say that's too cold for them. 😂 I live in swfl so taking the key west express is easier and faster being its in fort myers where I am. But I do love the drive too. Great ride.

@@TheDetourDuo fantasy fest is a really fun time. Still a bit warm because it doesn't really cool down till late November. I guess that's why most of their costumes are just paint or a sock covering their junk. 😂 Great time though. You should go if you can! Oh btw, I mentioned towards the end of high season for another reason... rentals start dropping in price. Especially on vrbo

Ahh Key West. Always worth a visit. When I went last June I had 5 (!) days of sunshine during the day and rain only in the night. Made my trip so much more memorable. 🏖

The Southernmost Point should b e Edward B. Knight Pier just to the east of that. But if you don't count a pier then the Clarence S Higgs Memorial Beach has a corner close to the pier that is further south than what they have listed as the southermost point.

@@TheDetourDuo Latter parts of June, July, August and September are the hottest and most humid months of the year. The festivals that are held during those months (Lobster Fest, Hemmingway Look-Alike & Running of the Bulls, etc.) are designed to get tourists to brave the heat and come down here despite that minor inconvenience.

I have a legit question…how did you get drone footage over key west? I thought it was a no-fly zone for drones?

Most of Key West is a no-fly zone, but not all of it. It is extremely strict though. There was a pretty low flight ceiling (can't remember exactly how low) You have to be at least 5 miles from the airport which most of Key West is within that and you have to get prior authorization before taking off from the FAA. This isn’t your usual fly-by request; it requires a formal nod of approval-a special permit that acknowledges your presence won’t interfere with manned aircraft and you have to be registered as a Part 107 owner. Having said all that, most of the drone footage is stock.

I lived there for over 10 yrs. Other than all the gay bars and people. It’s a great place. I lived on Eisenhower. Drive. It was expensive as hell. Almost 3 k. A. Month but I enjoyed myself. Especially whenever I worked and then spent cash at the strip club. Female strip club that is. 😂

Ask yourself why a beer that cost $4.00 in miami cost a tourist $ 10.00 here but a local can go into the same bar and get the same beer for $2.00, why do you think the city made the whole island paid parking at $ 10.00 a hour unless you have a resident sticker . Let a tourist park in a resident area and watch how fast they get towed and get that $200.00 parking ticket. Why do you think we voted to remove the cruise ships from kw ? Then the carpet baggers came in and bought her way into office and let them come back in. If you line up 100 natives of kw and ask them what they think about the tourist 98% of them will tell you the same thing. People who are not from here think we want them here but you are very wrong. But think what you want

Why would somebody move to one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country if they don't like tourists? There's plenty of other areas in Florida that have far less tourists - even in the keys. I don't understand moving to crazy town and then getting upset about the crazy.
