If Braverman isn't making cash out of this policy I'll be amazed. She's spent a bit of time in Rwanda, seems to have a few connections there, and she's sent hundreds of millions of Pounds over there. I'd also be amazed if there's any transparency in the allocation of that cash.

Braverman makes Priti Patel seem moderate. Clearly lying that she wasn't aware of the 12 refugees being killed, but potentially stupid enough not to have read the deal she signed.

Wow, Laura Kuenssberg actually asking difficult questions... Still needs to go further, if she knows her interviewee is lying she needs to call it as it is, ie a lie.

Braverman said that when she visited Rawanda the refugee's told her they were happy with the way they were treated and comfortable with their accommodation. This is the sort of comment that detained jews said when interviewed by external observers visiting Germany in 1930s.

I bet you a hundred pounds Suella would not send her family members to Rwanda because its not safe.

How on earth could Kuenssberg fail to ask Braverman a supplementary question to query her lack of knowledge - just confirms my suspicion that these interviews are "fixed" - a deal is done.

Her saying she didn't know about this very famous example means that she can't credible say that she is certain Rwanda is safe, because she has clearly not done much research. This is a great weapon for all opposing MPs

Priti Patel’s parents immigrated from India to Uganda, and were later expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin and sought refuge in England. She is now peddling legislation that would have prevented her own parents from gaining refugee status. If the Tories truly believe this legislation is fair they should lead by example and start by deporting the Patel family to Rwanda. They happily deported the Windrush generation, so it’s not as though they’re averse to retrospective deportations.

When she says she isn't familiar with that case, either she's lying (quelle surprise) or there clearly wasn't sufficient (or probably any) vetting or background-checking going on when they put their finger in the air and decided on the Rwanda scheme.

When these people start doing this, politely but firmly inform them that the interview is over, instruct them to leave the studio, then switch to the 24hr news channel until the next regular programme is due to start. If they can’t give direct answers to direct questions, deny them any air time. Do the same with the newspaper editors. This BS has got to be stopped.

Rawanda gets capable people that can work and pay tax and we are taking vulnerable people in from Rowanda? All displaced humans are vulnerable?! This is sad and awful

Regarding the 2018 protest: She has a team of staff to research incidents like this. Either they are that incompetent, or she cares so little, she never bothered to check, or task her staff. If her fellow MPs are voicing their disagreement specifically over this protest, there is no excuse to not know, unless she has dementia. Braverman needs to be sacked, but the entire Tory Party leadership is also complicit.

What a horrible person. I don't think Rwanda cares about what she said. They are the only African country that agreed to this kind of terrible deal. The Rwandan government is only interested on dollars and political cover from the UK.

The Tories got their deal with Rwanda, and much the same as the TCA, they've got a piece of paper to wave in front of their supporters. They're relying on the fact that most of the public will not read the details and the media are helping them do that.

Braverman quite obviously has no area of expertise, saying she was unaware of this massacre is a blatant lie. But we’ve learned to expect nothing else from her.

Michael hit the nail on the head when he talked about a 'trade' in human lives. Can you imagine the look on the gammon faces when an aircraft comes back from Rwanda loaded with Congolese refugees?

When the deal was published I wrote to my local (tory and senior) MP asking how many refugees would be taken from Rwanda. He never replied.

The odds are pretty good that the UK ambassador to Rwanda will be summoned by that country's government, to explain why their government appears to have no intention of keeping an agreement negotiated and signed off by the minister of state. Between the Withdrawal Agreement Act and this deal, the Conservative party has trashed the country's reputation for honesty and integrity.

The reason she doesn't "know anything" about the Rwanda policy is because she's not actually running the department. It was a dodgy deal to bring the hard right-wing side of the Conservatives on side to back Rishi and block Boris from standing again. Either way, its a car crash of a performance and TV and shows how deeply flawed the policy is.

This part needs to be shouted out and repeated "They fled the Congo into Rwanda" they didn't flee into Britain, they fled into a county closer to where they were. They're not heading towards Britain, Britain is the last thing on the minds of those fleeing conflict or persecution!

Speaking of the Artimes II mission, can we put Cruella on a rocket to deep space only for never to return. Mind you the solar system would probably reject it, spit the witch back towards earth. The entire tory government has had a policy of lying since at least the referendum. They always did a lot of the time. But since 2016 it's become the default. The agreement seems to be getting as much focus as the Exit agreement, and wee all know how little attention the current government paid to what they agreed to on that. Almost every trade deal they've signed has similarly gotten as much inattention.

Priti Patel and Suella Braverman are a particular type of south Asian woman that abound in this country. They are both married to native white men and as a consequence have a particular hatred towards the communities they come from. As a consequence their treatment of brown and black skinned people should not be surprising. I have south Asian male friends and they all report they are treated with hatred by these women once they are fully "intergrated " into native white society with their white spouses and their half cast children. (I feel sure south Asian men would vouch for what I say here).

The thing is that Laura Keunsburg has a known bias of being soft on Tories, yet she is now calling the current Tory Home Secretary out on this policy which very loudly screams to me that since even a reporter with a right wing bias is appalled by it means that it is wrong. I have no respect for any politician who is not fighting tooth and nail to overturn this and am even more shocked that the judiciary seem willing to turn a blind eye to this ideological form of xenophobic attack on vulnerable refugees.
