Watch THIS if you're learning French (sound more natural) 

Hey all you lovely humans. I just wanted to come on here and say a big THANK YOU to all of who have been showing this video and my channel so much love lately. I also just want to write a quick *DISCLAIMER*, perhaps I didn't clarify enough in the video itself. However, these words are not found in your textbooks FOR A REASON. Most of the words/phrases I mentioned are NOT used in formal situations, or with strangers. Otherwise they can be considered rude, or not very polite :) So keep this in mind. Lastly, I have only been learning this language for 2 years therefore, I am not an expert in French in anyway. I am giving you guys MY insight based on MY personal experience in this country and with learning FRENCH. Pour la bouffe on dit souvent “ acheter à manger” c’est un peu plus poli on vas dire 😂

c'est vrai que "nourriture" ne s'emploie pas trop, mais on dit par exemple plus couramment, "est ce que tu as acheté à manger ?", "on va déjeuner/manger ?". Le mot " bouffe" marche aussi mais c'est beaucoup plus familier ! Du coup il faut faire gaffe de ne peut pas dire "bouffer" avec des personnes que tu ne connais pas trop !

Bouffer - to eat La bouffe - food Bosser- to work Le boulot- work Se capter - to catch up Un truc- a thing Génial - cool Grave- totally!( agree)Or serious Carrement - totally (also when you agreee) T'inquiètes(pas) - do not worry À plus or à toute -see you soon Fais gaffe - to be careful J'ai la flemme- to be lazy to do smth La vache- holy cow

Le plus familier : graille Le plus soutenu : se sustenter C'est offert par la maison 🙃

I think “ t’inquiète” does not mean “do worry” that would be «inquiète-toi» just the phrase “ne t’inquiète pas “ got shortened to that.

I also hear this a lot : kiffer... which means 'to like'

Love! These are awesome words! Another one I want to add is : Tu m'étonnes. literally, it means you surprise me, but nobody use it that way. French use it in a way to confirm something , or in an ironic sense. E.g "il fait froid aujourd'hui" and you would reply "tu m'étonnes" to confirm. Or "j'aimerais gagner 1 million euros au lotto ", "tu m'étonnes"!

And you can add the word "galère", actualy i never heard it till i came to France and wich used to describe something difficult or complicated

Be careful with "bouffe" and "bouffer", it's coloquial. Instead of "bouffe", we'd rather use "à manger" (j'ai acheté à manger). Saying "on va bouffer" when you're a stranger or even a native French will make you sound rude. Be careful to use it only with you friends - if they use it as well. Same for "fais gaffe".

8 days so far of learning with duolingo!! I'm 22, when I was around 13 I was completely determined to learn french because it's such a beautiful language, I learned a lot between 13-14 but not enough to really speak french. Now I'm following my wish and trying my best to learn!! It is hard with some words with my accent but I keep on and my motivation is up! Hopefully I will be able to fluently speak it one day. The only thing I worry is none of my family or friends is studying french and I'm the only person around that is, I'm nervous that what I do learn will be forgotten as I can't actively practice. BTW learning on my own, not at university

Talking about '' la nourriture '' lmao that part was so funny cuz u said I've never in my life seen a person say '' t'as acheté de la nourriture'' .. so trueee (You guys should just make sure at the fact that ''bouffe'' is supposed to be used with ppl u know very well as she mentioned in the video ) 2. Hey awesome video! I love that you gave examples, that helps to understand. I want to point out however that although these are french words, many are expressions/words used mostly in France. To someone who is curious to know if these words are also used in french Canada, here is a breakdown: *Used also in Canada* Bouffer (to eat) La bouffe (food) Un truc (a thing - However it is used a lot less than the French. In Canada we would use mostly "une affaire" or "une chose") Génial (cool - Also, it is used, but I'd say not as commonly used as the French) Carrement (totally - Also used, but less than the French) T'inquiètes(pas) (do not worry - We use this, but we word it a little differently, we would say "inquiète-toi pas") À plus (bye) *Understood in Canada, but not used/barely used* Bosser (to work - we would say travailler) Le boulot (work - we would say le travail, or also la job) À toute (see you soon - we don't use this, but we could say "à tout de suite" if you're parting ways with someone, but are going to see them soon after) Fais gaffe (to be careful - not used or barely used. We say "Fais attention") La vache (holy cow - this is a french expression. I'd say most canadians understand it but we don't use it) *Expressions from France - someone from canada could be confused on what you mean (depending on their knowledge on french expressions)* J'ai la flemme (to be lazy - I personally never heard this before)

Hi :) being French I allow myself to give just one little tip : instead of saying « est ce que t’as acheté la bouffe » we rather say « est ce que t’as fais les courses » meaning « did you go shopping (for food) » Hope it helps a little bit, I am 20 and still not really sure to speak French sometimes 😂

I think the second definition of "carrément" might be closer to the figurative use of the word "literally".

We also usually say "T'as acheté à manger ?" :) "À manger" is very used to speak about food

I think another expression that might be useful is "quand même" which means "at least", "anyway" or "not really". It depends on the context and where it is in the sentence.

I lived in France for awhile and the french woman chez qui I lived told me la bouffe can be a little derogatory for la nourriture. Like something you feed the cows.

The video and everything is great but about the phrase "la vache" I don't think I will use it very often since it has the same pronunciation with some sort of tortilla in my country and I wouldn't be that serious using it. Additionally there is a long way ahead of me to be fluent in French :)

It's almost nothing but "à toute suite" is actually written "à tout de suite" (pronounced tou-de-suite and so it sounds like toute suite) and so the abreviation would be written "à tout' " (but i think a lot of french people do that mistake too lmao) :)

By the way, we usually say '"manger, acheter à manger" instead of "bouffer, acheter de la bouffe" it's clearly more polite event with your close friends than "bouffer" that's really not polite at all For the rest well say ! ^^ "La vache" is really not use at the least in Belgium (Namur)

Hi, it s funny to see our usual expression, which are very common for us. Little mistake , we said : A tout de suite ( or à toute) .I think I use nourriture when I think in global. Dans ce resto la nourriture est bonne. La nourriture est avarié ( rotten) . Another expression : tu déconnes ! You’re joking ! When somebody said you something unimaginable
