Seriously, succulents will grow sitting on a carpet if you let it. The leaves require no water because they get all that they need from the mother leaf to create those babies. My leaves still need more time to grow. The hardest part about growing succulents is that they do require significant light to grow tight and uniform. The beauty of succulents is that they are VERY forgiving though! You can propagate their leaves on their own, you can chop and it’ll grow more plants from the cut, and you can repot the portion you cut into it’s own individual pot. If your succulent is etiolated, long term your plant will continue to grow leggy, looking pale and weak so it’s better to change its conditions. If you found this useful, consider following! We have a lot of fun around here 🫶🏽
@@Meow-cd3qn Water it when the soil dries, if the soil is moist, don’t water it, otherwise it will die by too much water, and they need some sun or sun light everyday, all the times. Good luck.🤗
I love the idea of stringing them together! I also pinch their leaves to see if they need watering, if they're firm they're happy, any squish and they get a drowning
This is a GREAT TIP, thank youu!! I'm living in a country where the weather is never stable, it's either bright and hot outside or it's raining like a damn shower outside... So I worry if the plant is staying out too long, or if it's not getting enough sunlight.. The leaves of my succulent is currently drooping so I have the thought that my family might be overwatering it (I'm not there to care for it most days) so this is a great tip I can use! Thank you againn
@@wishywashy1153 ah 🤡 i was wondering why the leaves arent squishing... and my succulent looks like a mini coconut tree rn with its tall stem and leaves only at the top 😭 idek what im doing wrong
@@vidhiney Probably not enough sun. Succulents like full, direct sun. If it's not getting enough, the stem will have few leaves and and most of the leaves will be at the top where the new stuff grows. If it's not in direct sun right now, make sure you do it gradually of you'll sunburn the leaves.
I just broke my succulent an hour ago and here you are. I find it fascinating how a succulents’ leaf will do its best to grow a baby with its call of death.
I have a Mexican Snowball that's been sitting in a plastic cup with water since last May and I have no clue how she's still alive. I'm going to finally pot her and five her babies today, and I can't thank you enough for all your videos on how to repot and propagate succulents right now! They are so so so helpful!
I think this only works in the right climate. Here in the UK there isn't enough sun or warmth to do that, but I've been semi successful with succ prop under grow lights.
Mine die constantly. No matter the watering I try (less, more, f@$kin none once just to test it), the soil or substrate I use, or the spot in/out of my house. They just die. All my other much more finicky plants do conpletely fine. Not the succulents.
@@lunaballuna I hope to make you feel better when I say that I have managed to kill parasitic plant such as money plant. Over time I realized I can look at greenery from afar but need not personally be responsible for it. So yes, don't beat up yourself over it. 😊
Succulents are my bane! I love them so much but thats probably why they all die. Ive got over 100 somethin plants and i can even do bonsai and cacti just not succulents and ive finally caved and stopped buying them lol
I’m still trying to get the hang of caring for succulents. I just bought six yesterday. It’s like I overwater the plants then I end up underwatering. They’re so beautiful, I just want them to survive and flourish. lol
I can keep succulents alive no problem but when I try to prop the leaves just dry up and shrivel into nothing and don't grow. Sometimes if I stick pieces in the dirt and water they eventually grow roots.
I have my plants outside and where i live it gets very hot, so after failing to propagate multiple succulents i decided to start watering the baby leaves. That has worked. Somehow the heat is so bad that the main baby leaf will start to shrivel and die, but if i water it sparingly it will get healthy again and the baby will keep growing!
@@Valalokiearly on they can be watered daily particularly due to shallow roots make sure they are stuck in dirt too this helps them catch their roots on stuff to anchor them
@@melissagamarra7611water daily while stuck into top soil make sure to not overrated but you want to keep watering like they are starving for it until they either a get new leafs or b become rooted enough to anchor themselfs
I absolutely love that you've started popping up on my shorts again! I just recently moved into a new house and ready to get some more babies and I love your content!🥰
This is so real! I have had some success with soil propagation, but there was this one succulent leaf that fell underneath my little greenhouse setup, and I hadn't bothered to pick it up and that succulent leaf did better than any of my soil propagation attempts
I can keep a mature succulent alive but ANY propagation attempt = FAILURE!! I think light is my issue and with my North window (light source) I need I need a quick tutorial on this "it will grow plant" 😜 .....we do have a lot of fun around here🌻💃🤸♀️🚴♀️🍃
I would have absolutely NEVER thought about starting a leaf “necklace”! I have a bunch of leaves that need to be propagated from an etoliated succulent that I rescued from Tractor Supply. I’m going to try this today!! Thanks 💚
Oh this is where I’m going wrong not cutting it down to stop it getting leggy! I have no trouble propagating the leaves though! This is a great way to do them on a string!
I split a massive snake plant years ago and they're unbelievable. The roots kept wanting to rot no matter how little I watered so I stopped watering all together. One of my plants is about 3 feet tall and has about 5 large leaves. It hasn't had any roots at all in 2 years. I cut off the rot a long time ago and stopped watering it. Instead of relying on roots it'll drain the smallest leaf over a few months. I can't believe I've had these tall plants for almost 5 years and have struggled with roots the entire time but the leaves have never showed it. They look exactly the same minus a small leaf. They seem to be perfectly fine without any roots. I hope someday they'll accept water without rotting but so far they're doing ok. Snake plants, and succulents in general, are amazing.
I recently bought a succulent for the first time. Xan you give me some tips how to keep them healthy coz i know nothing😅. Like what kind of soil it need, how often you need to water them?, and how much sunlight they need?
Never knew this so thanks for sharing! Love plants and all your content! What about if it’s bent and breaking near the bottom? Can I then just chop it off and plant it again? Will the leftover plant then regrow?
I am SHOOKETH! To be fair I'm far from a green thumb, it took me months of experimenting to get rosemary cuttings to take root! Now I have 2 thriving little guys with flowers and branches all of a sudden!
Do note Ignoring a succulent depend climate of your region. In a very hot and humid climate, don't leave a leaf or in the open. Maybe near the window but shaded else the last week loose moisture before it has a chance to grow.
If you place a succulent in the middle of a big vase, and if it grows tall enough, it's gonna start dropping some leaves around it till the whole vase is full with the succulent you started with ^^
I picked 2 tomatoes yesterday in freezing temps, my lemon trees look stunning, my pineapple from the grocery store pineapple is so huge I think it will start fruiting soon but I can’t keep a succulent alive for more than a year.
I have NEVER been able to grow from the stem of some of our succs. Not sure what kind it is, but it never grows babies. And we've had some them upwards of 4 years. Started with 2, we got from a boutique grand opening party. We've made over 100 babies to give to kids, and we have like 20!
Just something to share. My succulent leaf was growing baby when I leave it outside my house, but I bought it in to avoid rain one day and the baby died. Other leaves i leave in the house also died. Turns out, my country is too humid and the house is too humid for the babies to survive. End up all my babies died. Learn it the hard way 😢
WHATTTTT?!!! ALL THIS TIME I AVOIDED SUCCULENTS BECAUSE I COULDNT PROP THEM WHEN I NEEDED TO AND IT WAS THIS EASY?!!! Time to go pick up random ground leaves at the plant nursery again🥰
Interesting! I successfully propagated some during the summer and then just had a disaster this week with some new ones. It's far dryer indoors right now, so that follows.
I have a question please I need help. After you cut the succulent do you mist the cut portion where the shoots grow new ones and if so how many times a week? I need help with growing the shoots before I chop it
@@sana6445 yes, and if you water it i think it could lead to root decay. you can lightly mist it one time or with a single drop of water, thats what i did. and you can give it indirect sunlight
One time a leaf fell off of one of my succulents and I didn’t notice. Some time later I found it in a dark corner, on linoleum floor, growing a new rosette out of spite 💀🤣
@@PlantswithKrystal Lol, I've tried just putting them on soil or even in the soil countless times. They always die in like a week or two. I love that you can make it look so easy, but I'm afraid that isn't the case in my experience.
SO MANY BABIESSSSS😭😭😭 I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL GIRL😭😭 I LOVE PLANTS. HAVE A TINY GARDEN In my balcony 🥹🥹 FEEL MORE INSPIRED TO TURN MY WHOLE HOUSE INTO A GREEN GARDEN AFTER SEEING YOUR VIDEOS 😭
I just love this chick! She makes me realize I’m not dumb after all. Girl you seriously need to come up with a plant book for real. Any publishers out there??????
