Welcome folks to this short video where i share the way i like to dress my tweezers here in the workshop. There are several methods for dressing tweezers which can include the use of very expensive and hard to find tools but in this video i will show a method you can use which requires minimal equipment. Don't be afraid to experiment with this method as you can develop a good finish with practice and create multiple shapes.

What an excellent video! with lots of useful advice I don't do watch repair, I make model planes, the plastic kits, but to a high standard; I came across this video and I'm glad I watched it The tweezers I use are just ordinary stainless steel, that's good enough for my use, but they have become a bit worn & battered, so I'll be using this advice to dress/fettle them Thought you might like to hear that in model making circles, when parts ping off the tweezers, that's called being Lost To The Carpet Monster

Glad the video has proven helpful and now you can get more life and better performance from your tweezers :)

Great tutorial, but I’m afraid the 3m microfinishing film is a wee bit expensive for a hobbyist and very fine grit achieves what I needed. It’s the technique I give my sincere thanks for.

Great tutorial. I've dressed two of my tweezers just after watching it, and I'm very happy with the results, thank you. (I used 800 grit sand paper, I think it's near your 30 microns sheet) Will you do a screwdriver dressing tutorial too?

Thanks, you will find with practice that you can control and manipulate the shape to what is required, in no time you won't even think about what you're doing. Drivers are fairly similar except a single backward motion instead of side to side and of course a much lower angle, but i will see what i can put together.

Useful 👍..though when doing the inside wouldn't it be easier to just fold the paper & do both surfaces simultaneously ?.. just a thought .

You could fold the paper but this tends to make the paper slightly out of flat and so changes the shape of the tip. Mounting the paper to a piece of flat sheet metal helps keep things flat even more. But do what works for you :)
