Its unbelievable how many times this song is covered and even more unbelievable how each singer makes it their own. Its like a new song each time i hear it😭❤️🤗🎤🎼
MY THOUGHT EXACTLY!!! I watched her whole season, rooting for her and Daughtry, cried when Daughtry was eliminated, cried even more when she didn't win 😭😭😭
Hats off to Sara Bareilles. The singer is the instrument of the song - the song is extraordinary. Bareilles is such a gifted musician and poet and a great role model for modern women. She does the work, she let's the work talk for itself and she rises strong.
Katharine is so underrated. This fact makes me sad. Look at her and hear her perfect notes. When she first glided notes in "Over The Rainbow"... She's so perfect. I love her since then... Even "Over It" is my one of my hymns of life. #loveher
What I love about this is that Katharine sings this exactly how she portrays Jenna in the show - as a beaten down, withdrawn and resigned Jenna. And it totally works for her portrayal. Her last “miiiine” tails off all defeated. Alison’s last “miiiine” by contrast is a lot angrier! I haven’t seen Alison’s Jenna but I assume that totally fits her Jenna too! Both great renditions 😩😍
Omg, She used to be mine should be the test of fire for all female vocalists, very tender and intense at the same time. Thanks for posting this awesome rendition.
Samantha Rovai > LoL. You’re a piece of shit. She’s not that good. In fact, she’s awful. There’s a reason why she’s an American Idol loser. Just terrible. 😂 Her horrific screeching is just plain awful. She tried acting and flopped at that too! Now go home and don’t post again, dummy. LoL.
They're both good, Hamilton just had more cultural impact. I have the softest spot for Waitress though. They both would deserve the awards, either way. 😊
@@EphenStreet Hm, I see neither Kat, nor Megan, Debra, Jeremy or Christian as stars who devour a big budget. They could easily do a new storyline without Anjelica Houston, who, let's face it, is probably the only real A-lister from that cast.
@@PhilsOsophie Debra is an a lister and popular before smash in will and grace and Katherine is popular from scorpion. Christians now a Tony winner. Jeremy is big from supergirl. They probably wouldn't ask for much more than what the studio would offer but they're still all incredibly well known people now
Saw her do this on Broadway. Always thought it was a silly show, but I was not prepared: the show was amazing and I was absolutely floored by her performance. She sings this song perfectly, at least for my taste
I wouldn't call them mistakes. This was not flawless. It was pretty weak. I mean it's probably an improvement for her and the best she can do with what she's got. Everyone has limitations but I found it kind of irritating. Sounded like she was trying too hard.
Saw Katherine McPhee in Waitress in Dec 2019, and so glad we had the opportunity. A fantastic performance and rendition of this song. Tears in my eyes... so moving...
Agree entirely, Shoshana’s amazing too. But they both put their own feeling for the character in their interpretations. I wonder how many there are? It’s an absolute gift of a song to women who have the vocal range (& emotional range, too.)
Omg, this song gives me chills every time. And that voice? Wow! One of the best performances I've ever seen. Such an emotional singing, made me cry. Congrats!! Im even a bigger admirer now
I was lucky enough to see her perform this as part of the original London West End cast when the show first came to the UK a few years ago. All of the actors were incredible in the show and to hear her rendition of this song in particular live was incredible the power she has in THAT voice 🥰❤️🔥 Amazing! She deserves to be world famous!
Got to see Katharine in Waitress last year and this song always makes me weep a little. Hits a little close to home as a mother myself and who struggles to keep her identity separate from being a mom. So much truth in this beautiful song.
when she went for audition to American Idol, her mother told her "God Bless Katharine...that's God her own..." damn... i just saw it right now! Proud of that star⭐🙏🏽
I've NEVER been to a Broadway show with a standing ovation in the middle of the show until I saw Katharine in London for Waitress. Absolute chills both now and then.
And that's a wrap, folks. Saw Katharine in her 'first last' show of the Broadway run on November 25th, and was absolutely floored by her intensity and polish. It was a special night. She could, indeed, sing the phone book (or its digital equivalent) and I'd listen intently. Can't wait to see her in her next project.
i actually really love how she brought back the sort of original SUTBM that we all knew and did have many extra high notes and stuff and IT WAS STILL PERFECT
I love seeing all of the different versions of this song! It really shows how much a particular actor can bring to a song or part. They are all touching, but they each bring a different approach and add their own touches.
The very first song I've heard in my 78 years that told a story so sincere and so reflective I don't have the words to describe my feelings right now. BEAUTIFUL!
Her song with Zach Levi called terrified is legit what made me fall absolutely Inlove with both of them many many years ago but I still legit listen to the song like it was just released today. Such a beautiful meaningful song. Absolutely love her and her voice!!
Omg that performance brought me to tears it was STUNNING I stand in awe at your voice . You know how to deliver a song you understand the emotion and how to control it to give the song the right flow . But wow your voice is beautiful the tone so smooth and you never force your voice , it's perfect for me . I only hope now we hear more from you Kathrine we need more from that beautiful voice ❤
I got to see her perform on Dec. 29th, 2019. I'm so happy I was able to watch her performance live days before closing day. It was a goosebumps-inducing experience. She's marvellous
Would like to thank all the gods for the fact I’ve heard her do this as Jenna irl. I really want there to just be a mashup compilation of all the Jenna’s performing this at my funeral
Good lort, Katharine has such a stunningly beautiful voice! And her control over her entire vocal range is mind blowing! Glad to see she's doing broadway. She is perfect for it.
