This is a really cool concept for the watch world. In the world of knives it’s very common for a custom design from a bespoke maker to gain enough traction that the maker is approached by a large scale brand for a collaboration where they mass manufacture the design at a more attainable price. I’ve always loved that about the knife business and love to see it in the watch business.
Again, nicely done Marko. Collabs like these really bring something to the marketplace. Interesting, quirky but attainable and big thumbs up from me for that. Not something I'd want for my own personal rotation though. Don't think I'd be 'in the mood' often enough.
Awesome piece. This is a prime example of the cool things that can come from two watchmakers working together. Great collab and I can wait to see more.
Hhmm....I think I prefer the Behrens over the Joker. The former doesn't look quite as freaky as the latter. But, I don't think I'd get it as I'm afraid it might start looking at me.....and following me around with its eyes.
I thought the whole case and dial was made out of meteorite at first, it's amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if other watches start using crystallised titanium as well instead of meteorite.
You know what? First time seeing the joker i thought it was hideous. Looking at it more closely i think its a fun watch! Very playful colors. The Chinese version is very nice. I like to see unique designs and interpretations in movements. I would be happy to own either. But that price is no where affordable to me so for now ill admire both from afar. Thank you for this review!
Verrry nice collab! It looks a lot slimmer on the wrist than the og joker. But they overdid it with the logos on the eyes, it distracts you from already not too easy read of the time
really cool watch in both design and materials. Love seeing another region create quality watches. Just as the market has really begun to embrace the quality of Grand Seiko as a comparable brand to Swiss and German watch making, hopefully we'll see some well engineered in-house movements coming from China as well. The crystalized titanium could be a suitable alternative for some "meteorite" like dials as well. Would love to see that.
Thats really good value for money. Really hoping Behren keeps going in the direction they are headed. Theres a large gap to fill in the middle market for watches that tell time in interesting ways.
For this money you can get an Glashütte Original (PanoMatic) or a JLC (Solaris). Wouldn't spent that money on a chinese watch, eventhough I love the original Joker watch
These guys are so creative and the workmanship looks outstanding. But most their watches are a little weird for daily wear. I'll have to stop by their show next time I go to China.
It felt like you are personally talking to me in this video. I love the wristmons. Love your og joker. Always dream of it. This is my chance .. but I still can’t get my self to spend almost 10kUSD on this collab. If it was OG KC, made by him, then this price point would’ve been still worth shelling out big bucks for me. I hope I won’t regret missing this opportunity later 🤦🏻♂️
9000 for a 300$ looking toy with a silly sw200 in it. More sensitive , more prone to damage than a random PT5000. Humans are getting dumber by the minute.
Doing a collaboration is one thing....using your same design at a cheaper price just cheapens Chaykin. Why not do some thing different with Behrens....using Chaykins playful designs?
Sellita movement ☹☹ ..... I was offered this one.. I think it is still available, but movement is a turn off! $200 modified movement and price is 10k. I'm not in the watch flipping business and wearing a 🃏 watch will be very difficult as I only wear suits or some kind of jacket. I'll keep an eye on Behrens though, especially in house movements and crazy designs they come up with.
Wow, what a fantastic watch! I never thought a collab like this would happen but here it is, thank to Marko and SWG team for showing these cool pieces. You guys make the best watch content, keep up the great work 👍🏼
It isn’t a knock off. It’s a productionalized collaboration with Constantin's participation. A great idea for a custom watchmaker to do when his pieces are so popular.
I hate to break it to you, but China has some of the most advanced manufacturing in the world. The "cheap" products is a design/product decision from the brand. That's not a fault on China.
@@willl5250 Hi Will, thanks for your reply. I'm sure China has the ability to make great watches. I'm just surprised at the cost of a similar watch. I doubt resale of the copy will be a good investment. Thats alot of money!
There is simply no way I will pay nearly 10K for a Chinese made watch. At 10K we are deep in to Swiss high level watches area so it does not make any sense.
If the quality and design is there I'm happy to pay. Let the quality speaks for itself and not superficial things like where it's made. It's 2023 production and technology has globalised for many years. With the right people and tools anyone can create awesome products.
@@khazelnutThe great watch markers back in the days were Britain and Germany. It was Germany that made the groundbreaking innovations so we today can have small watchers.
Good old fashioned racism from watch snobs never stops to amaze me. Get over yourself. If this was swiss made it would be atleast 2 to 3 times the price, same quality.
I want to correct, something. Limited to 200 pieces, this is not easy to get. I asked my watch dealer to source this last year. There was only 1 allocation to Hong Kong.
@@SwissWatchGang I’m sure they would love to hear someone tell them their price is a rip off 😃. We have to be realistic, we know what it means made in China. Like made in swiss also mean many parts are made in China too.
@@silvercornuto777 nothing is 100% made in Switzerland. But quality control takes place there. Made in China has no quality control hence Kmart products brake after 2 years 😘
I despise those Chaykin watches. That face looks so ugly and creepy... and I generally like weird watches. Plus he just repeats almost the same design over and over. Seems like he needs some new ideas. They don't look unique enough from each other. The price is pretty bad too, might as well just buy the Chinese replica for $100. Lol
