Die Tangente and Orion are perfect examples of stark and sober, but highly stylish design in best Bauhaus tradition. Autobahn is sheer fun ! And they all have well engineered and nicely crafted calibers ! Great selection, Jenni ! It was highly enjoyable !
The Tangente and Orion are definitely big classics. Out of the more unconventional watches from Nomos, I personally prefer Metro over Autobahn, but I do appreciate both of them for the out of the box thinking. Nice video overall :)
First Tangente set me back a cool 680 EUR on a Lufthansa flight (special edition and 100 EUR discount when compared to the shop). My sister now wears it, retrofitted with a sapphire glass back. That, including maintenance, was another 500 EUR -- fantastic value back then, fantastic value now. One of the prettier movements, including several Grand Seiko and Swiss stuff. Also, my first "serious" watch, so the entry level thing quite resonated with me.
The Autobahn is spectacular. I have an 7 inch wrist si the size is perfect. I certainly find this model unique and not for the weak of heart. You can even change straps so it’s a watch for those who want a watch to pop. That’s me.
Never paid much attention to the Autobahn before but now it's on my radar! Love the simplicity of it, for what it is supposed to represent. The blue "gauge" and the way they do the dates on the bottom fits into a car theme so well! I absolutely love the design. If there's now a Made in Germany series, I'm excited to see possibly Junghans and Sinn show up in the future!
Thanks for another insightful, concise and well researched video. I've yet to dwell onto Nomos, but it's only a matter of time as I'm huge fan of German made watches from my Sinn to my Lange Saxonia.
@@JenniElle I hope to get a white gold Zeitwerk in the next 12 months.... After experiencing their craftsmanship, it's a complete eye opener from the finishing of the balance cock to the silent smoothness of their winding mechanism. A Lange is just breathtaking.
That's why i am not a fan of the Tangente. But the Nomos Orion 38 is really looking nice on my wrist. If you haven't tried the Orion, give it a shot :)

My personal favourite is the Nomos Club datum with the Alpha hand wind movement. At 38.5 mm the size is perfection and I love how the date is at the very bottom of the dial at 6 o’clock. The white dial with the the black and orange hands look great.
I think Nomos definitely know their own design language and they do it very well. It's interesting to compare and contrast Nomos to ALS in terms of both being to the point yet different.
Nomos Tangente. There’s a midnight blue dial with a camel coloured strap that would calm even the most eager watch protagonist! It’s the perfect tool watch.
Well the Nomos Tangente has one serious flaw tho: the watch lugs are too thin. In the long run they bend. No matter how cautious you are with your watch: if you wear it, it will happen. Once you're aware of the issue (and I can't ignore it, since I own one), it's pretty obvious those lugs are too thin and too long at the same time. If you think about it, nothing prevents the metal from bending in the lateral direction. And here is the very big problem with those lugs bending: they will distort the dial itself, even so slightly but enough to impact the movement. Mine is constantly running slow and I have to adjust it constantly. If you look at most other watches, the way the lugs are built prevent them to bend. They're thick and have a triangular shape. This is major design oversight.
Found this video a year ago & I keep coming back to it. Today I shall start saving for a Nomos. I’m not sure what model but it has to be a Nomos for my first luxury watch. I’ll update you in about a year or so!
That's part of why I like the Minimatik (ref 1203 being my favorite). Yes, it's a unisex watch on the smaller side, but on my 6½"/16.5cm wrist, it still looks proportional and is really readable. While the stock remborde strap is nice, I hate the tang, so I opted for a lower-end brown cordovan Nomos strap, which suits the off-white dial perfectly.
Great review Jenni. Nomos is one of my favourite brands. I'm a huge fan of German made watches and especially hand wound movements. I have a Club with the Alpha movement and it's my favourite watch and a daily wearer. The Autobahn is a crazy looking piece which I really like but, is a little too big for me. Hope you do a review on ALS!
Beautiful lighting and macro work! You're the new stop for macro watch shots. Great 3 picks out of the Nomos collection to cover! The are my Top 3 of Nomos, as well. I'm torn between the Autobahn and Orion. I love the fun of the Autobahn, but the classic design of Orion feels like design that will always be timeless.
Great content again, and Thank You for another video! My favorite of the three would be the Autobahn Neomatik. Why you ask? The dial draws me in, something different and peaks my interest. Blue markers, my favorite color and with the orange hour hand, orange tipped minute makes this a fun watch to look at and admire!
Just yesterday i tried the nomos autobahn in the AD. Loved it. It feels very nice on my wrist. The AD was boasting that nomos will eventually be a great brand and that the watches will hold and/or increase in value. As always, excellent vid Jeni!!!

Thank you very much for beginning a series on German watches. I have a strong German heritage and it is nice to see the watches reviewed by a person from Germany. Also, I count to three the same way you do...always have, how weird!! Anyway, my favorite is definitely the Neomatik. The size fits me better, I love the colors, the 100 meter water resistance, and the overall non-standard look!! Thank you again!
My fav nomos is the metro datum gangreserve which is why I bought it. Protip for owners looking to change straps with non-quick-release lugs: buy 16mm springbars
I'm leaning towards this Autobahn or the Metro with the mint power reserve. That Autobahn seems large, but I love the scoop of the seconds-hand; it's so pleasing to look at. But the power reserve appeals to me and the thought of such a useful complication that requires my interaction to manually wind every couple of days is something I like.
I like Nomos, owned an Orion 35 a few years back. Stunning watch and incredible quality and finish. I do wish they would shorten the lugs across the line-up though, they are definitely on the "long" side. Their prices have really gone up too for us Canadians... I paid about $2000 CAD for my Orion in 2015 and now that same watch is $2700+ CAD, with no improvements since 2015. I know the CAD$ isn't that strong but surely that's not the only factor driving up the price.
Of course the Tangente fits most to your wrist. I am focused on the Ahoi, which seems to be out of production in the next time. The Ahoi is water-resistant up to 20 bar.
Refreshing take, but not only due to a woman's point of view but also since it's simple and sincere. Also, was swaying between Junghans/Nomos for quite a while so a video like this is handy :)
This going to be a great series. So many awesome brands. Glashütte Original, Sinn Spezialuhren zu Frankfurt am Main, Laco, Damasko, Junghans, Stowa, Mühle Glashütte and, of course, the mighty A. Lange & Söhne. And more, no doubt.
I'll be getting a nomos soon. It expresses the most with the least. To say it's cold and emotionless is a misunderstanding. Form follows function. Thus, the purpose is never lost in translation. The good part is, this watch can be part of your identity, not define your entire identity.

Burrito Supreme I also prefer Sinn watches and own the U1 SE. It personifies the “form follows function” design esthetic in a diver but I don’t foresee many women ever wearing one.
Great video as always! My favorite Nomos has to be the Club Sport Neomatik. I love the lume, the water resistance rating, and the bracelet. To me, it's the perfect Nomos! Out of your lineup, I gotta go with the Orion. And when you eventually do a Sinn video in this series, as a very happy owner of the Sinn 104, you know that's the watch I'm hoping will be included.
Club Sport Neomatic is my fav watch as well although I prefer the tangente line as a whole over the Orion. Also agree about Sinn. The limited edition 104 that came out this week is a beauty.

Always loved Nomos. I just ordered their catalogue from Germany and they sent me a lovely notebook with a bookmarker as well as a letter signed in ink by their CEO. Have a few watches but when I have the cash I will probably buy a Tangente. There are three watch brands based in Glasshütte that I like. A Lang & Sohn. Glashütte Original and Nomos. The other two I could not afford even second hand. May move to Germany before end of year because of crazy Brexit in the UK
Bought a Datum+Gangreserve Tangente in 2012. The design is Bauhaus standard, the size makes it the perfect dress watch at a price point which will not break the bank. Apart from a Patek Calatrava, can’t think of a better looking timepiece in its category.
I would love to get a Nomos one day, I have 2 Junghans Max Bill, one Chronoscopy and one plain grey Junghans. Also have something made closer to home to you, a Stowa a Stowa Antena Classic 40.
Would love to see future videos on some other German watch brands, particularly Sinn, Jung Hans, and A. Lange & Sohne. Also Nomos's Zurich World Time. Keep up the videos!
I love your channel. Great job! You speak clearly. Fantastic unique accent. Great presentation. Wonderful video and photography. I also love that you show the wrist shot complete with wrist size and the size of the watch (lug to lug is the most important). We rarely (or never) have a lady presenting a watch channel. I'd love it if you can create a video about your top choice for ladies'watch and factors to consider when buying one. It is no secret that buying your SO a watch can be very tricky.
Hmmm...want to get a Nomos as my next watch...50th birthday milestone. Sold on the Orion 38, but something about the Tangente...keeps me looking back. Looks great here. Wish I could try them on in person, but unfortunately not in Aus. This video swings me to the Tangente for some reason. Both great. :)

Surprisingly considering that Doxa is my favorite brand, I DO really like these from Nomos. I suspect that it's the Glashütte stripes, and the obvious attention to detail shown in the movement, combined with the pure simple design of the face. Really nice watches. Absolutely NO use whatsoever as a 'daily wear' watch for me, it would get destroyed in less than a week, but for occasional use, one of these is certainly on my target list.
Maybe you should have introduce the world more to Glashütte! Since it is a place with very old and long history of watchmaking! People, check out the nomos world timer ... what a beuty and stunning watch !

Great review, Jenni. Thanks for introducing the German Nomos brand, something I would not, normally, have the inclination or desire to research by myself. I find the Autobahn Neomatik model design to be most innovative and iconic.
Great picks! I love Nomos. While I think, personally, the smaller Orions (33, 35 mm) would be better examples, I really think you should explore the amazing dial colors they offer, especially their astonishing midnight blue (and other subtle, but rich, colors) across their model range. With regards to models that would be good picks to show, either the Metro (contemporary, young, while urbane design) or the Ahoi (a dive watch in a non-traditional dive watch aesthetic) would be great picks.
