Watching Alice In Wonderland (2010) FOR THE FIRST TIME!! || Movie Reaction!!

I know this isn't the most well reviewed movie out there but I personally love this movie, love the darker approach and the acting from Johnny Depp was amazing in this movie

This movie is one of my favorite live action Disney films. The cast is just amazing. I love Johnny Depp in this. You should watch the sequel as well, its just as good as this one.

"Perhaps I will see you in another life." That line has so much more meaning now. I like to believe we will see Alan Rickman again in another lifetime.

OK I’m here to answer a few of your questions that you have asked during your video. Number one, The reason why the whole atmosphere of this whole thing is dark is not because Tim Burton is uncapable of making bright colorful atmospheres, but it’s because he wanted it to make it look like as if the red queen took over everything so everything went to bad. In the second movie because the red queen is not the queen anymore in the second movie it’s a lot more bright and lovely, I highly suggest you see that movie. Secondly, the reason why it’s not like the original Disney movie is because Tim was trying to make it a lot more like the original book, which in my opinion was a fantastic choice, there was so much that the original Disney movie have left out, that and this time. It’s supposed to be years after she visited wonderland for the first time. Like this would be her second time visiting Wonderland. Which is why a lot of the characters in this movie looked nothing like the original Disney version, he was going for the book version. And just probably my favorite detail of the whole thing is the fact that the people she meets outside of wonderland like the real people were kind of boring at the wedding are supposed to be the counterparts of people in wonderland. The guy that she was going to marry actually supposed to represent the Jabberwocky in the way she defeated it, the two twins are you supposed to be twiddle dee and twiddle dum counterparts, The mother of the guy she was going to marry is supposed to represent the red queen which is why she is so snotty and rude. And the husband of her is supposed to be the counterpart of the blue Caterpillar. Just a lot of details that not a lot of people realize, very much apologize for the long comment

My dad took me to see this in theaters. I knew the late, great Christopher Lee was the voice of the Jabberwocky, but when his voice rumbled through the theater it still caught me off guard.

Somehow, with the eye stabbing, the river of decapitated heads, and everything else, this movie managed to skirt by with a PG rating. Go figure. But regardless this is still a solid film! Love it just as much as the animated version.

as with all burton films, it oozes his personal style all over, interesting, pretty and dark. Unfortunately one of the weaker ones storywise, not sure it quite works as a semi-sequel to the disney animated one. The whole "it was just a dream" was meant to be more ambiguous in the original and in this the time she visited as a child was when she went there in the animated one, with her painting the roses red and having the original tea party etc and wasn't the clearest due to the style and story changes. Also its Helena Bonham Carter that plays the queen/bellatrix ;)

Never been a huge fan of the Alice in Wonderland stories, but the casting here is superb! Anne Hathaway is one of my favorite actresses, as well as Johnny Depp. It hurts what he's going through 😢

I highly recommend you watch Alice Through The Looking Glass, it's a sequel. In it they actually do give the white and red queen a back story! They also give Hatter a back story!

39:24 The Cheshire cat doesn't just vanish and reappear at will. He's also a shape-shifter. The look at his eyes we got before he was "beheaded" was the clue that it wasn't the Hatter.

I just had a very bad school day, and seeing this video made me feel so much better, this is my favorite movie of all time, I know all of the lines to the queen of hearts. Thank you for making me feel better 😁

The fact that this made over $1 billion worldwide is beyond me. I know it was coming off of Avatar thanks to the 3D hype and the film wasn’t all that bad, but still, WOW.

I still love this movie. Especially the caterpillar because he’s voiced by Snape.

By the way, the "official" answer to Hatter's riddle about the raven and the writing desk is "Poe wrote on both" (Poe's most famous creation is the poem called The Raven), buuuut there are more answers to it. Oddly enough, at first it was to have no answer at all

This is my favorite version of alice in wonderland personally, i saw this version before the animated one actually and i VASTLY prefer this one. Ive always loved darker gritty atmospheres in these kind of wacky whimsical stories. It IS a valid criticism to think this one doesnt work well as an adaptation/sequel of the original, i prefer to think of this story as a whole seperate universe entirely contained within itself. I love this movie for what it is and itll always be one of my favorites

I love the classic Alice in Wonderland but Tim Burton's take on the film was incredible. Johnny Depp was amazing as the Mad Hatter.

Christopher Lee played the Jabberwocky. He was Willy Wonka's (Johnny Depp's) father in "Charlie in the Chocolate Factory."

I love how it's chess Vs cards. Skill Vs luck I also love how the Cheshire cat looks in this as well! Especially his eyes and those super sharp teeth

Johnny and Helen (Bellatrix) are an iconic duo in ALMOST every Burton production.

The score for this movie is AMAZING. Back in the day they used to play this song on the radio that they play during the end credit scene. It's amazing.

Just to answer you're question at around 6:00, you're correct that IS the woman from Harry Potter 4. She plays Olympe Maxime - the teacher from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic - The school Fleur Delacour was from. Oh and the Caterpillar IS Alan Rickman :D

All the best heroes (and leaders) are reluctant; that's how you know they're fit for the role, because they don't seek it for themselves but only to see what needs doing gets done. It's how you know their sincere, not greedy or ambitious.

An older friend of mine said that the tumbling down the rabbit hole was how she always imagined it to be. Also the “have I gone mad” by the Hatter was apparently “charming”. This is from an over 70 year old lady so I think there were at least some things right.

All the actors did such an amazing job with this movie... Especially Johnny and Helena...

FUCK YES!! i honestly loved this version more than the animated one, i know it's a classic but this one with the sisters being queens of different kingdoms, the mad hatter having more personality and alice having more history, AND THE SOUNDTRACK!!!

This is in my top three movies so I am very happy you enjoyed it! It's nothing like the og Disney movie and very little like the og book, but it's such an amazing story. Helena Bonham Carter has been in most, if not all, of Burton's films and Johnny has been in many of them as well. You'll find that the majority of this cast can be found in Harry Potter as well. As you continue enjoying Burton's films, here's a fun little bit of trivia for you. While most of Burton's films feel quite dark, his favourite fairytale is Beauty and the Beast and he works that dynamic into all his stories, often in unexpected ways. For example, this time Hatter was beauty and Alice was the beast

They do a back story of the red and white Queen in the 2nd one. They also do more in depth back story on the mad hatter.

In the original script the Hatter was supposed to kiss Alice before she left. I am still mad that it didn't happen. That's mah ship😭

I love this movie, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but when Alice was riding on Hatter's hat he was reciting the poem Jabberwocky, I once recited it for a class project. Anyway I'm glad you got to watch this, it's a great movie. Down with Bloody Big Head!

You were right, Aunt Imogen was Madame Maxime, the headmistress of Beauxbâtons, in " Harry Potter and the goblet of fire ". I liked the fact that Wonderland is darker than in the original movie because it's like a reflexion of the feelings of the people because of the Red Queen. Her and the White Queen are characters of the original book of Lewis Caroll, and if I'm not wrong, the " giberish " thing the Hatter said was what the Cheshire Cat sings in the animated movie. This movie has a sequel called " Alice Through the Looking Glass " and we learn a lot of important things thanks to this one.

I love this film. Unlike the book, which I cannot enjoy or even finish after years, this film is very enjoyable.

I really liked Johnny Depp as the mad hatter, but I first knew him as captain Jack sparrow from pirates of the Caribbean.

In the original script for this live action Mad Hatter and Alice were supposed to kiss but it was cut. I would have wanted that to happen bc it’s clear they have something special between them in this 💕

Watching this movie in 3D at the cinema was quite a treat I tell you

So this wasn't fully intended to be standalone. It's sorta intended to be a sequel to the animated one (which does follow the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). This was more fleshing out the whole world and a lot of the side bits were reference to the books or related writings. Like the gibberish that the Mad Hatter is muttering right before his backstory, "Twas brillig in in the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble in the wabe, all mimsy were the borogroves and mome wraths outgrabe", It's the opening stanza and then a few subsequent lines from the poem Jabberwocky. That's where the Jabberwock, the Bandersnatch, the Jubjub Bird (the ostrich thing that got squished by a boulder in the battle), and the Vorpal sword all come from. But this is because I am an Alice nerd. :D Please check out the sequel. It goes more into everyone's background, the queens and the Hatter.

This was always one of my favorites movies, hilarious and beautiful, I loved Helena and Johnny and Alan Rickman's voice for the caterpillar was amazing! I recall when I saw this movie at school with my literature teacher and my whole class, and all the comparisons I had found with the relationship between people and Church in the Middle Age... I was so happy when I saw the notification, because I really really love your reactions! I hope you will react to "Alice through the looking glass" as well ❤

This film was shot in standard 2D. However, after the big unveiling of AVATAR it was decided to put this film out in 3D also. There was a new program that could turn it into 3D although not perfectly; one could tell. However, it really added to the dream aspects of the story and made it wonderful.

ahhhh I have a love for this movie so much it was my favorite book growing up tbh also my go to too draw but I got one thing about this film that sort of rubs me the wrong way cause this is technically a sequel but it's not cause everything that happens in through the looking glass minus the mirror bit is in this movie like they even go over the fact she has already been to wonderland 😅

Great reaction. I don’t know if you caught onto it but it was similar to Judy Garland’s Wizard of Oz where the characters in the reality reflected a Wonderland character. For example Alice’s mother was Miranna the White Queen, Hamish’s mother was Iracibeth the Red Queen, Hamish was Terrance the Hatter, the Twin Girls were the Tweedles, Aunt Imogene was the March Hare, Alice’s sister was the dog Bayard, and her husband Lowell was Stayne the Knave, and Hamish’s father was Absalom. Other movies like this one where the protagonist was in the magical and when they were younger and then came back as adults that I think you would love is Hook and Dorothy and the Witches of Oz. And I think you’ll love the sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass.
