Bruce Springsteen's "The River" is such a deep, heartfelt and moving song and a great example of his ability to write story-telling lyrics - like a miniature short story.
Love everything Bruce, but that being said, the "Tougher Than the Rest" video, with Patti, and Bruce, looking at one another, knowing this was when they were falling in love..... really gets me. 💕
@@maryerpenbach9517 lol Yeah, Bruce takes full responsibility for the failure of the marriage. (He writes about it in his book) At this point, the separation had occurred.
Your reaction to Born in The USA was spot on. There's an unnamed ex president that couldn't understand what you culled in 5 minutes. I vote for you for president .
"Born in the USA" is one of those songs that's been repeatedly misunderstood by people who don't bother to look up the lyrics, really since the day it was first released (in '84 during Reagan's big reelection campaign). That loud, hollow, monotonous patriotic clangor throughout is itself, as you say, ironic. Great song.
My advice to potential Bruce fans is always the same. Start at the beginning! Find out where his music, his sound, his passion came from. Even some of the early live recordings from The Stone Pony with Southside Johnny. Great stuff! ✌🏼😎
Love that you read the lyrics bro. The drum beat was the anthem. He screams back. There is the drum breakdown. Its epic. So misunderstood. so wonderfully crafted.
When I was a teenager back in the 80's, despite his enormous success, he had a lot of detractors, especially in my age group. And if you were a hater, your go-to criticisms were he was corny and he couldn't sing! So it is great seeing all of these young reactors who are so amazed by his voice. He is one of those artists where you either get it or you never will. As for his falsetto, he does so frequently especially with you might call his yelps and growls, but if you want a whole song where he utilizes it then Lift Me Up is the song for you. You also can't go wrong with any of the recommendations in these comments.
Drive All Night, Tunnel Of Love, Wild Billy Circus Story, 4th of July Asbury Park (Sandy), Racing In The Streets (Paramount Theatre, 2009- although there are a number of live videos of this-this one is my favorite, Roy Bittan is outstanding on piano-the Philadelphia 9/9/16 one is also good), Something In The Night, Independence Day. You may be interested in many of his live performances where Bruce plays piano-sometimes doing the song solo-different presentation of the particular song..
Brilliant disguise was written about his first wife . The whole Tunnel of Love album is basically a break up album. Any Bruce is good Bruce 👍🏻🙂, love how you crush on him. I have a friend whose also got a crush on him.
You were very perceptive on these tracks. Reread the lyrics to Brilliant Disguise. Such profound and introspective understanding of his marriage falling apart. The last line gets me every-time!
For more of the softer side of Bruce, try Meeting Across the River (1975), Racing in the Street (1978), Highway Patrolman (1982), My Hometown (1984), Dry Lightning (1995), Long Walk Home (2007), Kingdom of Days (2009), Jack of All Trades (2012), and Moonlight Motel (2019). Also, the live version of The River from 1985 with the story intro is worth seeking out.
Should check out his latest album "only the strong survive" he does cover of soul and r&b songs... Check out his cover of Nightshift by the commodores first 👍
Hi my friend Marsh .How are you I hope you are fine .I like this reaction Very nice .I like so much this song .Take carre you my friend after ocean .Bye .Love you .
He’s interesting. We’re About the same age, but I remember always hearing that song Human Touch. But I wasn’t too familiar with his strongest work. My favorite from him is a song her wrote Natalie’s Cole called pink cadellic. It’s like Patti Labelle’s new attitude lol.
Sounds like you would enjoy the full Tunnel of Love album. It's mostly about relationships and Brilliant Disguise and Tougher than the Rest are both on it. But here's a couple other videos I think you'd enjoy. An early version of Something in the Night ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ioQ2eF1XbYY.html and a later version of Racing in the Street. I think you'll love the music of this one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fT4pSt4kie8.html
My favorite out of this round would have to be ‘Human Touch’. Love’em all though tbh Off topic, but I think it would be awesome if you had a playlist of your reactions to live performances
Can you check out Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce. It comes on the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Philadelphia is a 1993 American legal drama film with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.[2] It tells the story of gay man Andrew Beckett (Hanks) who asks lawyer Joe Miller (Washington) to help him sue his employers, who fired him after discovering he has AIDS.
T y very much for commenting on "stuff" from "The Boss"!! 😁 😁 😃 😃 😃 I have to say I was pretty surprised (but positively) that young persons are interested in Bruce Springsteen's "stuff"!! 😃 😃 Me as a red-blooded, 36-year old woman (don't get confused, I'm just using my bf's account because mine hasn't been working since 2012 🙄 🙄) can only say that Bruce is such a MAN, I'm really sorry!! 🤤 🤤 😁 😁
👌 Fab review with the fab 4 song format as always ... ..would be great if you reviewed 4 "Belinda Carlisle" songs - sure you'd enjoy her body of work. Peace n Luv ✌️🙏
Your reactions are excellent.. I would like you to react to Djavan's song, a Brazilian singer from 1984.. If you react to Djavan's song with the title lilás Brazil, you will receive many comments! And new subscribers...
In terms of reactions to Bruce. Do you want to review videos or audio tracks? I can make suggestions. And videos, is it live videos of songs or the studio version video. If that makes sense?
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude His best songs, that are just audio tracks of the studio record: Jungleland; New York City Serenade; The River; Incident on 57th Street
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude fun live performances on here. I'd say: Born in the USA in Argentina/Amnesty tour; You Never Can Tell - hilarious; Light of Day from MTV plugged; Rosalita from 1978 in Phoenix. Keep doing what you are doing. Great channel. Look up Crowded House!
Do yourself amasive favour,n well you can thank me later.Plz react to The Live in NYC official dvd version of Tenth Avenue Freeze out by Bruce .ul need a lie down
Yeah, I'm totally in favor of more shirtless Bruce videos! (Brilliant Disguise is absolutely one of my favorite Springsteen tracks. Check out his album "Nebraska" if you haven't already -- amazing!) (And I've always dreamed of a Bruce Springsteen & Kate Bush duet -- one of America's most beautiful male singer/songwriters with England's most beautiful singer/songwriter.... is that too much to ask?)
Should check out his latest album "only the strong survive" he does cover of soul and r&b songs... Check out his cover of Nightshift by the commodores first 👍
