The moment I saw snipper for the 2nd time, things got disturbingly dark. It was established early on that snipper was just a figment of Dora's imagination. So how can he exist midway in the movie? Because everything that happened from the museum scene onward, were also just figments of Dora's imagination as a form of escapism away from the depression & stresses of her parents going missing & her high school problems. This isn't just some crazy conspiracy, I think this was, to some extent, actually intended by the movie makers. Its subtle enough for kids to not get it, but for adults to be captivated by it.

When you spoke of the slow children sign, the first thing that passed in my head was that literally means "slow children", like those people who walk very slowly on the street and you have to surpass them as in a racing game 🙃
