FYI: Ryan Gosling didn't impregnate the car. He used what is know as a "Slim Jim" to unlock the car before getting in the car and stealing it. Slim Jims are commonly used by tow truck drivers and car thieves.
Such a good movie this one, the cast in this is stacked too. The soundtrack for this is amazing and hasn’t left my playlist since the film came out. Nicolas Winding Refn made another film 2 years later with Ryan Gosling called Only God Forgives and then another with Elle Fanning called The Neon Demon a few years after but they weren’t as good as Drive. The cinematography in these films are great though. Loved the reaction 👍
First off, ❤ NickSaysBoo! I love how this movie starts off one way, and then turns into something else, but it’s not jarring. It makes sense. And the soundtrack is amazing.
Love Albert Brooks as the heavy in this one. He usually does romcoms, and has been referred to as the West coast Woody Allen, but he does a wonderful job as a charismatic yet terrifying gangster:) Great work:)
Gosling rebuilt the 70s model chevy he drives. Lars and the Real Girl and "Fracture" with Anthony Hopkins came out the same year and those two Gosling movies are even more different. .
Now, that you have reacted to "Drive," you have to react to "The Driver" (1978). It's a crime drama directed by Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hours). The main characters in both films are essentially the SAME EXACT CHARACTER. Ryan O'Neil turns in a performance every bit as intense as Ryan Gosling and there are those who would argue that "The Driver" is the better film.
This is such a good movie. There was a lot more dialogue written, but Ryan Gosling decided to be silent instead. I think that choice did make the Driver more interesting since you don't know what he's thinking. Sure you asked for Ryan Gosling, but I'm instead going for Oscar Isaac. Please watch Ex Machina at some point, best movie that came out in 2014.
