I'm in the same boat, but I do so love being overwhelmed with lore, characters, references, mythos, and ideas from a world that I don't know. This show has really captured my imagination in a way that I never thought any X-men content would do. Its character driven dramatic rhythm has poetic tone and flow that is enthralling. At least for me. Funny bit though. Class is now in session!
I mean, the original series does a fine enough job explaining the shi'ar without knowing the comics. Unless you haven't watched that either, in which case yeah this makes sense.
