bella just had zero personality 😭 her entire personality solely depended on edward existing. it was also so unrealistic how tons of people wanted to be friends with her even though she's literally devoid of any kind of emotion towards any of them. yet she feels so much for the people who aren't human liiike 😭

Amazing is a push, I found it tired after the first movie and tuned out but it is still way above average. Bella does have a hobby, she likes hitting people. Exactly! It is like so bad it is good at this point! The movies got progressively better. The books are better than the movies. The author is problematic but I am so attached to these books.
The werewolf beef with the Cullens is because the close proximity to vampires is what activates the change in them. If the there were no vampires around then they would stay human. Jacob gets pissed off in New Moon when he realizes that even though the Cullens left Forks he still turned because Laurent and Victoria were still snooping around.
In the books that kinda made me mad. Like, all of them were having their lives ruined because the Cullens wouldn't leave. That's some pretty justified anger if you ask me.

The newborns have a “healthy” diet of human blood and also have leftover human blood in them which gives them an edge over the Cullens. The Cullens have age, experience, and their powers but are ultimately unhealthy compared to the newborns.

Edward lived 100 years being able to read everyone's minds, so he always knew what to say. He had THE BEST social skills ever. The problem is: he can't read Bella's mind. He has to communicate like humans with her, without knowing what she's thinking. The result is him being all awkward and messy, which I think is very cute 😅
vampires are physically stronger drinking human blood, the cullens are basically malnourished by vampire standards, and newborns are stronger than a vampire who drinks human blood purely because the human blood is still in their system on top of drinking blood so for idk like a week to a month they're extra strong until they run out of their own blood, so even with the cullens having years and years of learning abilities the newborns still have raw strength on their side
They should’ve made it as older vampires are stronger and more powerful than newborns because their older and have kore experiences and have had a longer time dealing with their powers, like tvd did at first (of course the show ended up contradicting it later on)
The newborns are physically stronger, not better fighters or in better control of their powers. Not learning control, is what makes them so dangerous and unpredictable. You can't really go in a fight with them cause there's no strategy at play. Think of Jasper when he attacked Bella at her birthday party. It wasn't a logical thing to do, but the bloodlust took over and he had no self control, if there were no vampires around, she'd be dead. Now imagine a complete newborn, they wouldn't even stop for a second, she'd be dead before she had the time to look at her finger.
Edward doesn't have social skills because he is used to just passively listen to all peoples thoughts all the time. Bella is probably the first person with which he had to interact to get to know.
He talks a lot about that in Midnight Sun. He was literally freaking out everytime he had to talk to her because he had no idea of what to say lol it's very cute

The other books are not exactly great but they are fucking Graham Greene meets Orwell in comparison to Midnight Sun. While I was reading it my wife got diagnosed with terminal cancer. I never picked it up again as I know more than ever life is very finite and to spend it reading a would-be teenagers diary of self-absorption is two fingers to the gift of existance. Now on I read stuff I like, where I used to read because it was zeitgeist.
@@martinjames6431 Well, that's your opinion. I think Midnight Sun is the best book out of all of them. I love seeing things from an immortal perspective, I love that we don't gloss over how dangerous this is for Bella, I love to see a vulnerable and happy Edward instead of the mysterious guy we are used to.
I think Twilight is such a weird phenomenon. It is very close to the books, like they really did amazingly to film it and keep it the same. But then at the same time they just took out all the inner monologue (which is like most of the books if I remember right), and as a result instead of inner monologuing during those moments when people look at each other and this or that happens, it's just silent staring, no explanation. It makes it SO much weirder than the books tbh. Because I feel like there's a lot more explained in the books. Like when she enters the classroom and he makes a face as if he's constipated. It's her smell that does it, it overwhelms him and he doesn't know if he can control himself because he's never experienced it. They kept the reaction in the film, but gave it zero explanation. So it just looks weird and he looks even weirder than he is in the books. I sometimes can't believe I liked those books as a teen.
Bella is an introvert, which means 90% of her personality is in her internal monologue. She has opinions about everything and everyone, she's interested, she's curious, she's VERY intelligent. She never ONCE loved Jacob romantically, she always felt out of place which is the main reason why she thinks she's meant to be a vampire. All of these things are not in the movies! They should have a lot more narration throughout all of the movies.

It would be awesome if they casually sparkled some times and Bella was already used to it. The whole honeymoon sequence could have been way more original if that detail was added.

Bella and Jacob’s romance is super one-sided in the books. Bella is using Jacob to get info about the Cullens and to get over Edward. Jacob is head over heels in love with her and then suddenly is in love with her actual newborn.

When I read the books some of the lore was unironically really good? Not the sparkling part, but the lore about the Volturi? I really wished they could have expanded on that, because I was really curious about the workings of covens and stuff instead of just cryptic lines and Bree dying

They explain in the books, her blood smells extremely good and James wanted her so bad because 1) her blood 2) he saw the chase and lived for it and 3) he is the reason why alice was a vampire and wanted bella in exchange
so jacob and his people are super wary of the cullens and vampires in general because their presence triggers the werewolf gene, forcing them to go through those transformations (jakobs anger issues are caused by the wolf thing) and adjust their whole life to it, esp with the whole imprinting thing that is basically enslaving them to a person. so he hates them because they are those super rich people who could choose to live ANYWHERE but they settled in forks, even though they knew what that would mean for the native people. and bella is basically addicted to the cullens, since they’re vampires and all and she was kind of going through withdrawal when edward left her, alice showing up caused her to snap right back into the addiction though. so from jakobs perspective he saw this girl he likes being drawn in by the people who were actively kinda destroying his life and just not giving a fuck about any of that, supporting there every move, almost getting herself killed multiple times in the process and then actually dying and becoming one of them. so the cullens robbed him and so many others of the chance to live a normal life. but as of that isn’t enough they have their little demon baby which he imprints on and is from that moment bound to the cullens, again the people he hates for (from his perspective) destroying his life, till the day he dies. idk i think it’s reasonable that he wouldn’t like them all that much (oh and the fact that they all had the nerve to insult him over the wolf thing like they weren’t the cause for it?) see, i was team edward too cause he’s pretty and rich and all that but then i watched a lot of those tiktoks that kind of explained the whole saga and i’m left with this whole bunch of useless knowledge that changed my perspective

Personally, I love the Twilight movies because it captured such a comfort with its aesthetic, score and soundtrack. Edward swinging around with Bella in the trees?? Feels like a wanna do it Whenever the vampire are running?? I just love it Were the source material problematic and had multiple writting issues and plot/character/world building inconsistency & idiotic movements? Yes Were the movie any better? In some areas but it was still problematic and not strong strong its characterand plot writting(especially the villains). Had this franchise had writers that were able to compose an intriguing and healthy relationship between vampire and human, Bella facing consequences of becoming a new born( being the most uncontrollablevamp around blood) , her struggling with her decision due to seeing Edward's true nature ( ie: like that moment in New Moon where I wished it was Edward that attacked her and not jasper. His disappearance would've hold more weight plus Bella would've seen the nature of a vampire and questions if she really wanted that). Additionally, have three dimensional characters that were as interesting as the main characters and created a compelling plot, this franchise would've been respected amongst the general public because of its unique take and addition to the vampire/werewolf lore Ps - it didn't make sense that Rosalie was the one that lost control during Bella's pregnancy because according to the books, she was the most controlled newborn and vampire. She killed the men that SA her but didn't drink their blood bcs she didn't want them to be apart of her, and she carried a bear attacked bloody Emmet from the woods to Carlisle and didn't taste his blood

he was hungry. the cullens only drink animal blood, they're sort of "vegetarians" in the vampire world. that's why bella asks him why his eye colour changed, it's bc when he was hungry his eyes were black and he wanted to drink her blood, then he gets back after hunting and his eyes are yellowish and he doesn't look constipated anymore.
canonically her blood smells the best to him like in the whole world. also in that first scene he spent the entire class planning out a game plan of how to drink her like a capri sun 💀

The thing with the series is that they seem to intentionally write Jacob and the Werewolves to be the "less cool" and "in the wrong" group to bolster your liking of the Cullins and Edward mostly. Like the personality shift doesn’t make sense and every thing he does is because of his given emotional imbalance at being a werewolf. Jacob was the better option but essentially because of biology he was made into the worse. Cause Edward is creepy and a bit manipulative but simce Jaconb is "worse" and Bella likes him, the audience is made to root for him. Bella honestly needed therapy and a good support system and to rely on her dad more
