The Hunger Games were THE BEST YA franchise ever. We had an academy award winning actress as a protagonist; we actually had coherent storylines and world building. Teens today have “After” and “the kissing booth. The quality was just unmatched.

That's actually a common misconception. The love triangle was supposed to be a smaller part of the book and Suzanne Collin's editor asked her to make it bigger, but Gale was always a love interest
I think the love triangle was always supposed to be there. Because Gale and Peeta represent two parts of Katniss's lives and choosing Peeta showed that Katniss wanted to put war and anger behind her to start a new life
I just reread the books recently (i remembered they were graphic but woah the movies sanitized these) and the bit where they watch Haymitch's game was so brutal. Totally understand why hed turn to the drink after that let alone the fact that he trains kids to go to their death for years and years after escaping the arenas hell.

Can we talk about just how GOOD the score for this movie is though?? I found a channel that does ambience videos for movie soundtracks, and I always go back to the one for The Hunger Games because it's just so good to listen to for reading, writing, or drawing 🙏🏾😭💕
Haymitch actually discovered the capital's forcefield on accident and he devided to use it against his attacker This made the capital angry since he exploited a weakness in their system , so they killed his entire family and made him a mentor just to watch his fellow district kids die :(

you know in the books each year the number of times their name is added increases by 1 and if they need food or medicine or anything along the lines they would have to put their names into the mix each time they needed extra. that’s why Gale had his name in the bowl 42 times just in that year bc he comes from a large family and he is the oldest. that’s also why Katniss tells Prim not to put her name in and to sell her goats milk or make trades for things they will need. it’s called tesserae in the books. by the end of their reaping age their name would be in the lottery at least 21 times over the 6 years they would be reaped.
First things first, the background is truly legendary and inspiration. Let's not have the Met Gala have a Hunger Games theme because 80% of the guest will not show up with the theme 😭😭. But Hunger Games was truly an experience that many of the new and future generations will not be able to understand

I’m curious how people who haven’t read the book see Snow in that movie, I think the movie doesn’t fully show how nasty Snow was in the book, since his inner monologue is very important in the ballad of songbirds and snakes, like he was horrible at the beginning and just got worse as it goes on. Like he’s nasty, but I feel like the people who just watch the movie won’t see that
@@clover2739fr the movie makes it more tragic and sad and makes Lucy Grey and Snow somewhat torn apart by a misunderstanding, but in the books it’s pretty inevitable that he’s going to harm her because half of the time he’s like “she’s mine. She’s my girl” and sees her as an extension of himself and then loses his mind at the insinuation that she is charming him and using his feelings for her against him, all of which pretty heavily foreshadow that it’s going to end violently if he feels he’s lost control over her. Also him shitting on Sejanus and being like “how DARE people treat the GREAT SNOW NAME like THIS.” Not having his inner monologue made him far more compelling as a protagonist for most movie goers, I’d say b
Haymitch's games are explained in the second book, Katniss and Peeta decided to watch it. There's also a fan made short film that's pretty decent "Haymitch Abernathy (The Second Quater Quell)".
I've been waiting for this series to be covered!! I just re-read all the books so I can go see the new movie (which I'm doing tomorrow). This helped fuel my intrigue for the new movie

It's not even close. His only saving grace is Liam Hemsworth's jawline and sometimes being right about the rebellion. Pretty privelege, height, and the Best Friends to Lovers dynamic are just about all he has going for him imho

I LOVE what you said at the end, about every time you watch this movie it's like watching it for the first time. I totally agree!! The same goes for the book, I reread them all and Ballad before the movie came out and there's so much more that I (and I presume everyone else my age) didn't pick up on when I first read them, the darkness of the Capitol goes so much deeper the more you look into it. I think it's safe to say it's my favourite YA book series of all time
