This anime has a lot of details that can be easily missed if you don't focus. every second is important. what I mean is if you pay more attention, then you'll find this anime far more interesting. I have watched it 3 times already. 2x with different subs and 1 time in english dub and man I always pick up new interesting and very important details or information. so I advice to pay attention and save the talking in some kind of discussion later or something because you'll going to miss a lot. or maybe give it a quick pause if you want to share some opinions. it will save you from questioning and confusion. if you question something it will be answered immediately if you just focus on dialogues. this anime doesn't have any filler or any unnecessary scenes so every second of it is very important. also lot's of information can also easily miss through visuals that is why I watched it again in english dub so I can focus on the animation more. and it's worth it.
It's not just due to having a long life, but for elves it takes a while for them to process emotions. Sometimes, they don't even know how to express it. Stick around and you will see, and experience, one of, if not THE, most beloved series to have ever been adopted as an anime in recent memory.
It's okay to talk a little... but you talk too much during the episodes and sometimes miss good conversations and then get lost in the story with things that have already been explained. Take a break while commenting... it's better... Frieren doesn't have a Filler and the dialogues are almost never dispersed.
Important rule when watching Frieren: Read and watch carefully when Himmel is on the screen. (And, if you can, use different subtitles. The ones you have are too literal.)
Nicholas Flamel was a real-life alchemist from France about the same time as Joan of Arc. But since Frieren's names come from German words, I doubt that Flamme and Flamel have anything to do with each other. Still, you're sharp. I like hearing your insights.
It's bugging me that there are apparently at least two different translations for this anime. The translation I saw was slightly different in some parts and very different in others. In the one I saw, Frieren says at the end "It'll be a mere ten year adventure" referring to the one they were just about to go on.
Regards Frieren's character change, notice how the time skips get shorter and shorter since the 50yr skip in ep 1 as Frieren becomes more connected with the present moment, with Fern and surrounding humans.
Here's one of those little callbacks you may have missed. Remember the hairpiece Frieren gave Fern for her birthday? That's to remind her of her first bit of magic, which we saw her learn from Heiter in the prior episode, a spell that makes butterflies.
May I ask what you mean by the word, dense? You keep saying Frieren in dense but that’s not at all true… unless the word means something else in your culture. In my culture, dense means stupid, thick, moronic, it’s a very rude thing to say and not true as far as I can see. I’m hoping the meaning is different where you come from.
Dense from what we know is not aware or not really understanding a situation. Or basically like slow to understand. What you said is so harsh though! We don’t mean it like that!!
You guys are missing or not understanding 3/4 of the important parts of the show. If you want to understand the world view and relationships of this show, you need to listen more carefully to the conversations in the show.
59:21 nah.. the sub title is kinda too deep to understand.. there is one sub title better like when fern said frieren's name it should be Ms. Frieren not Mistress Frieren.
We’re super confused on where to watch before. If ever, we’re just gonna rewatch the whole thing soon to understand it better. But you guys helped us a lot in understanding too! 💯
Frieren is over 1000 years old. When they were at the tree she stated that she was still being instructed by her Master a thousand years later. If you want to know how old Fern is during the anime just subtract 11 from the years since Himmel’s death. In episode 3 Fern says that she is 16 years old and that is when it was 27 years since Himmel’s death.
The part where she stated that completely slipped our mind lol Thank you for pointing that out! Especially how to keep track how old Fern is currently.
@@moranijuju The series is filled with subtle detail. Unlike many other anime series, hardly a frame is wasted, especially in the first 4 episodes. Tough for reviewers because there's not a lot of moments open to chat without pausing, and also not many places to pause without breaking the cadence and emotional build-up. If it's not something in the dialog, it's nuance in the visuals and audio. I'm not one to re-watch things, but Frieren is one of those where you'll see something new on almost every view. By the time you get to the end of the season, every little detail will make sense.
You're looking at each other's faces way too much to the point you miss a lot of details which makes you guessing stuff that is already said in the show.
Let me correct you about Zoltraak. All of humanity can now use it because it became an "ordinary offense magic" so no suprised about it. There's a difference between of humans(and elves) and demons. For Demons or at least the magic specialized for only Qual( every demon has different magic they specialize like manipulating blood) the color of their Zoltraak is black. For humans(and Frieren) their color is white, which specialize to kill demons. The sealing for Qual was done by Frieren not Himmel.
there's two theories why only himmel looked age that much. 1. because the horn dragon that he keep, himmel affected by the evil aura for 50 years 2. it's just a normal aging, the others are abnormal, frieren is elf, eisen is dwarf, and heither is a priest that blessed by goddess that his passive healing works entire time.
I'm always so confused why people get hung up about how Himmel aged, his appearance as an old man or why he looks the way he does. In real life people age differently, some people look younger and live longer, others don't. We age differently. If people need further reasoning that's also simple to provide. But remember, this author pays extremely close attention to the human condition. 1. People mentioned that he shrunk. That's untrue, he hasn't shrunk, his back is bent forward because his back is now bad. Hard laborers and people who have received multiple physical injuries in life are more prone to osteoporosis. 2. Why has he aged more aggressively than the others? Other than what I said above about people aging differently the other reality is that he was a hero, his job was physical. Unlike Eisen the Dwarf, he has a normal human lifespan and durability. It's no different than a human being who does physical labor most of their life, they tend to age much faster then someone who's had a life of leisure because they beat up their body. Sure, the Hieter healing magic theory is fine but it's less interesting to me. It feels far less insightful and this mangaka is extremely insightful.
59:30 Frieren was Flamme’s apprentice; in other words Flamme was Frieren’s mentor or teacher. In case you’re still confused. It’s not a coincidence that you mentioned this show having Violet Evergarden vibes… the score was composed by Evan Call, who also composed the soundtrack for Violet Evergarden. ^_^ Also, just a small point: the whole party is not considered as heroes… it’s Himmel specifically that is the hero. The others are referred to by their specialty: Eisen the Warrior, Heiter the Priest, and Frieren the Mage. As a group, they are called the “Hero party” as in the Hero plus others in his party. ^_^
Himmel being JUST the hero huh. How intriguing why!! We’ll keep that in mind thanks! And I am completely in love with the soundtrack and score 🥹💯 - Juju
@@moranijujuIt's actually a reference to the old NES game "Dragon Quest" (which, along with Lord of the Rings, inspired a lot of elements of Frieren). In that game, a JRPG, "Hero" was actually a specific character class, like "Mage" or "Fighter" or "Priest".
@@cah1-kr9ebI don't know or maybe it's just me, but sometimes i feel cringe watching a show with a bad translation. Man, bad sub turn Sukuna into a chef and cook him with his malevolent kitchen
