The thing about the scene with Tywin in the throne room on a horse, that was nothing more than a show of power. The Lannisters had to reestablish their authority after the battle, and Joffrey marrying Margaery was decided well before hand. Everyone involved was coached on what to say and how to react. It was all basically theater for the benefit of the court.

The ending of Blackwater is so good. Cersei's conversations with everyone throughout this episode is great and that final conversation with Tommen is so beautifully Aesopian. Juxtaposed to that is the imagery of Loras Tyrell, in Renly's armor and helmet, breezing past the moonlit night like an ethereal ghost, cutting through the Baratheon lines like fine cheese; and Tywin! Tywin's entrance with the Rains of Castamere playing in the back is so freakin good. Medieval battles in most movies is all about the battle, whereas this battle here in GoT is just a backdrop, a vehicle to tell the story of the characters. That's why one gets so emotionally invested in it. Cause it's not just spectacular big budget mindless action p0rn. The realism and the psychology of the different characters going through the process of war are more important than the actual sword fighting and head chopping. They never make war seem easy or glorified. You're always going through a moral dilemma , torn between rooting for one side or the other. If only Tyrion lives but Joffrey dies!

One of the things I always loved about the TV adaptation is how it portrays Pod and Tyrion's relationship, especially with the addition of Bronn. Pod was assigned to Tyrion as his squire as a joke and insult to both Tyrion and Pod's family. Since the Payne's have fallen on hard times, assigning the Hand of the King a squire from a very minor House was a veiled insult, and the fact that Tyrion is a dwarf and people tell awful things about him results in an insult to Pod's family too because he's assigned as a squire to a guy who isn't even a knight and will never knight Pod himself, is physically deformed and isn't a great warrior, and has a reputation as a degenerate to boot. But Pod got to know Tyrion and respects him for his intelligence and kindness and Tyrion won Pod's loyalty to the point that this kid literally stepped up and killed a Kingsguard in the middle of the Battle of the Blackwater because he realized the guy had been instructed to kill Tyrion during the confusion. The fact that the guy playing Pod looks like he couldn't hurt a fly is also great because it makes for a great contrast with most other characters in the show.

Sansa is my favourite character in the show and the main reason is because her development even in this season is GOLD. In season one I literally hated her guts and by season 2 she was already solidified as one of my favourites. I also love how she isn't physically strong or a 'fighter', but she has her own strengths and tends to emotionally manipulate and play people without them realising it because they underestimate her so much. She doesn't have swords, or dragons or magic powers to survive, or even any allies remotely, but she's surviving anyway. There's so much hate for Sansa in the fandom purely because she doesn't follow these ideals we have for a heroine like Arya or Daenerys, and lots of people don't understand that in this season especially she doesn't love Joffrey and is literally playing everyone around her so I'm glad you picked up on these details (to be fair it's usually straight white men who don't realise).

I have and always will maintain that a Tyrion and Bronn talk show would be the best thing on TV ever! Also, 'Valar Morghulis' means 'All men must die'. When spoken the reply is typically 'Valar Dohaeris'... 'All men must serve.' The character is Jaqen H'ghar. A theory from the books was that he was disguised originally as Syrio Forell, Arya's sword teacher in season 1. Since we never saw him actually die the theory was that he was captured and in the chaos that followed he changed his face to Jaqen.

(Tyrion's speech) "It could've had a better ending" Nope. The fact that it ends in a crass way brings out the realism of the moment instead of making it seem like a flowery sanitized theatrical war. "Why did he feel the need to bring a horse in here, couldn't he walk in there" That was...an attempt....at a joke...I guess? But yeah, the music is symbolic. The song that Bronn sings at the start of Blackwater is the tune being played when Tywin enters, the martial version. There's a history to that song and once it's all set and done, you'll never forget that tune. They convey the mood and the message very well via the music, pay attention to those. Should've kept more than 2 seconds of the climax of Blackwater. Here's a tip. Whenever Tywin's on screen, focus on that. Shave out some Tyrion scenes.

Great reactions, Natalie! I think that the best part of the show is that it usually avoids common (and tired) tropes from modern fiction. As for the name of the assassin, it is actually "Jaqen H'ghar" (pronounced "Jack-en Huh-Gar"). The term "Valar morghulis" is a phrase from the ancient tongue of High Valyrian (from the land of Bravvos in Essos across the Narrow Sea). It has a meaning that might be revealed later in the show. In fact, the translation of the phrase was even used on official HBO posters prior to Season 4.
