The answer to this is actually in the 5th movie Paranormal Activity: The marked ones. So, in the end of the 5th movie, a character named Hector goes through a strange brown door at Katie's and Kristy's (Katie's sister) childhood home(the place from where everything started according to the 3rd movie). So, the door he went through sent him back in time to 2006 (because this movie is set in 2012) to the household of Katie and Micah. Hector enters the living room and sees Katie going downstairs to the kitchen. After unsuccessfully attempting to get her attention, Katie turns around to see Hector and screams for Micah, who assumes Hector is an intruder and tackles him, but Katie violently stabs Micah to death with a kitchen knife. And Hector was also killed by another character from the movie. So, yeah everything is kind of connected. And that was not Katie calling Micah, it was the demon.

And it's the one notoriously titled "The Friendly Ghost", which directly implies that he's the only one or that it's very rare lmao The only other friendly ones I can think of are most of the Harry Potter ghosts, but I'm sure there are tons more out there in other fiction

It's pretty common tbh. Me and my mates in college would live in an apartment and two of us would never sleep with the door closed. I eventually stopped though when I found out closed doors are really important in hold back a housefire.

Yes! I saw it the first day it came out with my friends and the whole theatre was literally nearly hysterical with fear at the end. I was literally holding hands with some girl I didn’t even know at one point 😂 I’ve never screamed so much in my life. It really was a cultural phenomenon

This! I took my brothers to watch it opening weekend. I was TERRIFIED, the people around us were screaming, hiding behind their hands. I remember mid-way through the movie, people were getting up and walking out of the theater saying they couldn't do it. Good times.

The Conjuring is not a real story, and the Warrens are known con artists. Also, it is pretty funny tbh. I would call it boring too, given how every scare is so predictable. Also, found footage as a format is more personal and forces the viewer to see things from the characters’ point of view. I’m not saying found footage movies are always necessarily scarier than every other movie, but POV sure is an untraditional way to shoot a movie.

Manubibi well the doll, Annabelle, is real so I guess Warner brothers loosely based the story of something that is real? 🤷‍♀️

In a lot of moments in POV movies it just doesn't make sense for the characters to still be holding the camera instead of just dropping it and running away as a murder or something terrifying is happening hahah
