Watching **RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON** for the first time | I DID NOT EXPECT TO GET THIS EMOTIONAL!! 

This film is so beautiful. Seeing Tong take Little Noi under his wing after he lost his child KILLED me.

And because of COVID, this whole movie was made from home. The teams who helped make this movie made it from their HOUSES!! That just makes it that much more awesome. 😭

My thoughts as I was watching: "eh, it's ok" "this is really predictable" and then at the end "fuck you Disney, who's cutting onions. I'm not crying you're crying"

This movie is amazing and for some reason it’s not being talked about much. It should be!! The music, action and heart this movie has is amazing.

Something REALLY cool is the term Raya and Namari use *dep la* in vietnamese it translates to "strangely beautiful" I just thought that was amazing. My mom shared that with me (she is half Vietnamese and half Hispanic)

Whoa, wasn't expecting this, I sadly haven't been able to watch the movie yet so I'll have to wait a few months to watch this. Just to be clear, I'm one of the people who has to sit until the movie becomes widely available in June 😔 Edit: You know what, forget it, I've seen the trailers over and over again, I basically know the entire plot, I'm watching the video.

Steph has amazing taste when it comes to movies and shows (atla, tlok, hamilton, the dragon prince etc). If she likes it, chances are its probably amazing! So ill definitely be watching it now

11:51 Raya and the Last Dragon is a good movie. A good animated post-apocalyptic fantasy film. A swordswoman and an energetic but dumb dragon embark set off on a quest to find the shattered pieces of a magic orb that will destroy an evil demon that threatens the world.

This is my way of watching of it

Personally, I think this movie lacked several key elements: 1) appart from Raya's father only women were shown as "strong" characters. There were no strong/intelligent men (her friends are either strong but dumb or just a child/baby) 2) The rivalry between Raya and her friend makes little sense. The story doesn't really reveal why her friend decided to betray her (was she pressured by her mom, did she plan on it for a while, did she envy or hate Raya for some reason...?) 3) The message of this movie is kind of unclear. It is about friendship, about hope or about trust? 4) From a logical point of view it makes no sense that Raya would suddendly trust her friend who has betrayed her numerous times. I mean... would you really trust someone who backstabbed you more than once? No. You could forgive, but the broken trust would have to be earned back. That's how trust works in reality. 5) Many characters lacked a solid character development. There were no songs in the movie who explained the thoughts and motives of the characters. So the felt kind of superficial and bland. 6.) I was very disappointed in Susu, because she was basically just a clueless idiot. In most legends dragons are associated with wisedom, knowledge and power. Susu is quite the opposite of that which was quite a disappointment. The only two positive aspects of this movie are the stunning visuals and the unique story. But the movie didn't have a clear message and it left me feel entertained, but disappointed... What do you guys think?

Well, in continuation to my last comment, I watched your reaction. It was just as good as the movie. The movie and it's themes were wonderfull and beautifull. But I do have some criticisms: first of all, I feel like resolution was a bit too fast and while we did see what drove our main five to trusting each other, we didn't see as much of it for the rest of the world, which made trusting each other on the world scale seem too easy. On the other hand, I like how the conflict basically began with Raya trusting Namaari too much. Another criticism I have is that some characters (I'm specifically refering to Raya's dad) practically didn't have flaws in terms of story's themes,or at least we weren't shown any, while others (now I'm refering to Namaari's mom) didn't have personal motivation, or, again, we weren't shown any. But I completely understand that all those issues stand from the fact that this movie is just hour and a half long, and for the time creators had, they did an amazing job. I enjoyed pretty much every other character in the movie, especially Raya and Namaari which is a good sign (actually, no, it just means that this movie is great). I guess I'm just too used to TV shows, which, if you put all episodes of one season, already will be longer than this movie (most of the time), or at least the same length. Which leads me to my suggestion to you Stephanie. If you enjoyed this movie, and you enjoyed She-Ra and the princesses of power (which I know you enjoyed both of these), than you should totally watch Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts, it's a great show with wonderfull themes. Or, if you want more Disney good stuff, I recommend Amphibia or The Owl House (any of these two will do). Keep in mind though, that Owl House currently has only one season and Amphibia has one full season and the second season is ayring write now. Again, thank you for your reactions and I'm sorry I can't support you on Patreon (I would if I could, but I live in Ukraine and therefore spend my money on supporting Ukrainian channels).

I like the animation and the movie but the meaning threw me off and how it kept shoving trust down some people throats but overall it was good

I loved Namaari from the beginning. Even though she is “the villain” it’s so much more than black and white. As a person with a lot of empathy, I could understand her very well. So I never hated her or thought of her as a bad person. Just a girl trying to make her mom and land proud.

Gonna be honest, I really enjoyed this movie, I love Raya, Sisu is a bit naive but still likeable and the supporting characters are really fun. Namaari is, without a doubt, the best "Villain" from Disney we've had in a LONG time, she's intimidating, competent, cunning, complex and has a real presence. Every villain we've gotten post Hades and Syndrome were really bland a forgettable that depended to much on the twist but we get to know Namaari and see what makes her tick. It helps that she and Raya have a wonderful dynamic and are just fun to watch together. It's like Catra and Adora they just have fantastic chemistry throughout the film. The action is fun, the plot is well written and the climax is, IMO, one of Disney's best. I WANT to see more of Kumandra and these characters and there is so much potential for this world, even more so then any other Disney property. Hell, I'd love to see Kumandra as part of Animal Kingdom or get an Uncharted like game that allows us to play as Raya along with a TV series. This world is amazing, Raya and Namaari are interesting and there's so much that can be done with this world that I really do think Raya and the Last Dragon deserves a sequel. :D

My 4year old daughter LOVES this movie (I do too). At the end she was crying happy tears, which was the first time I've seen her do that and the first time she has ever cried during a movie. It was wonderful.

I am gay for Namaari and I'm not afraid to admit it. I live for the fight scenes, the animation, the music! *chef's kiss* I have to say that I'm kind of disappointed how they just brushed of Raya's obvious trauma and that she (the victim) was kind of expected to fix the relationship between her and the one who caused her trauma (Namaari). While Namaari was also just a child that was manipulated by her mother, she and the entire fang nation didn't really come to the conclusion to feel guilty for what they caused until Raya came along. Actually, She never even said sorry for it. They just forgot about it. And instead, she blamed Raya for Sisu's death as much as herself, even though she still had her hand on the trigger the entire time and Raya's reaction was caused by trauma and valid. So I'm a little scared on how this could affect kids in the future, who'll think that it's your job to get along with the people who hurt you. I think if this would've been a series, this could've been better explored and executed, similar to She-ra and Catra's redemption.
