Couple factoids: * Robocop's mouth / face isnt flesh. It's a rubber death mask / mould made of his face after death, stretched over a metal skull... made so if Murphy ever remembered, he wouldnt go mad seeing nothing resembling himself (see Robocop 2 for examples). The only parts of his body that are still organic are his brain and part of his digestive system. * Robo's gun is shaped like a sarcophagus... a sideways reference to The Mummy aka a reanimated corpse *You missed where Lewis recognized Murphy's gun twirl * No one in Hollywood wanted to make this just based on the title. They sent it to a dutch director, Verhoven, who tossed it in the trash. His wife fished it out, read it, and told him "youd like it, its violent and the hero dies in the first 15 minutes" * this movie predicted DVDs about a decade before they debuted.. as well as handheld GPS

Before Peter Weller was cast as RoboCop, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Armand Assante, Michael Ironside, Rutger Hauer Sylvester Stallone and Tom Berenger were considered for the character. Weller lost 3 lbs a day from wearing the suit, and couldn't eat any solid food except for PBJ Sandwiches, Yogurt, Ice Cream, and Oatmeal. The special effects team built an AC unit inside the suit to cool him down and prevent him from passing out. It was 110° degrees in Dallas Texas where they were filming. The stop motion animation effects were done by Oscar Winning VFX artist Phil Tippett whom did VFX for Star Wars, JURASSIC PARK, and Starship Troopers. It made $53 million dollars against a $13 million dollar budget. It's now considered to be one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

Talk about suffering for art! Sheesh! Just like what Linda Hamilton endured while working on 'The Terminator' with a messed-up ankle!

The quick shot of RoboCop catching his police car keys and saying "Thank you" took like 50 takes because Weller couldn't grip the keys with his robo fingers properly. Also the shot in the boardroom where Kenny is on the Delta City model getting peppered with rounds from ED-209 a couple of squibs went off next to the actor's family jewels. You'll notice him spring back to life slightly from the shock of it. For all the takes put together they used about 200 squibs in that scene alone.

Fun Fact: No matter how many times they rewrote it, Paul Verhoeven was not satisfied with the dialogue for the hospital trauma team that treated Murphy. So, instead, he went to a real hospital and hired a real trauma team and told them to add lib their dialogue in accordance with Murphy's presented injuries.

Please check out the director Paul Verhoeven’s other sci-fi flicks Total Recall (1990) and Starship Troopers. They also have the same satirical bent mixed with ridiculous violence. As far as Robocop goes, the only other ones worth reacting to are Robocop 2 and the 2014 remake.

Too bad Verhoeven misrepresented Heinlein's ideals. Heinlein was anything but fash.

A masterpiece. Fyi Robocop's head was a full titanium skull housing his human brain with a dead face grafted on, much like a Terminator.

0:43 That was a real thing in the '80s. It was actually called the "Strategic Defense Initiative" (SDI), but because President Reagan was a notorious Star Wars fan, Ted Kennedy nicknamed it "Star Wars" to poke fun at him. It backfired because everyone loves Star Wars. Anyway, it was a space-based anti-ICBM laser platform that would have taken out nukes in-flight before they reached their target. Good idea but too expensive. The general concept was later made reality, but in the form of ground-based laser aperture weapon systems (with the same general anti-nuke/anti-missile purpose). Israel has one like that. 0:48 The first functional artificial heart was developed in the '80s and successfully transplanted into a patient. It was a huge medical breakthrough. 9:15 Robocop's Auto-9 is based on the Beretta 93R. Or rather, I should say that it IS a Beretta 93R (made to look futuristic), a select-fire 9mm machine pistol with semi-auto and tri-burst firing modes. 10:10 It's a variant of the Sterling L2A3, an English submachine gun that succeeded ye olde STEN. This one has a longer barrel, so it could be the cheaper semi-auto-only "sporterized" or "carbine" version (IMFDB lists it as a Sterling Mk.6). As per typical, the stock is left folded. Under-folding stocks are typically trash, but this one is exceptionally bad. Just a total ergonomic disaster. Still, a trashy stock is better than no stock at all, so it's better to make use of it than to leave it in its storage position. Not sure why the STEN or the Sterling were side-fed, though. Usually, guns that are side-fed or top-fed are made that way because it's easier to load them from the prone position. That's why machine guns and anti-tank rifles from the early to mid 20th century are like that. But SMGs aren't typically used that way. The Australian Owen submachine gun is top-fed. Top-fed guns either have offset sights (usually to the left) or an offset magazine well (could be left or right). Edit/Note: The Sterling L2A3 was the basis for the E-11 standard-issue Stormtrooper blaster from Star Wars. 15:03 Not the best bodily location for that kind of gear. What if his arm gets blown off or cut off or something? Now a plain ol' spike for use as a close-combat weapon, that's fine, but an electronic interface is sensitive equipment. 17:44 / 21:04 He actually has a metal skeleton face and head under the flesh-like face and his eyes are bionic too. They only gave him the flesh-like face in honor of Murphy, but he could function just the same without it. The face also makes him more relatable to everyday people (even though he usually wears a helmet), so there's a "public relations" element going on there too. 17:59 Kurtwood Smith is left-handed. 20:04 But why does it roar like a lion and squeal like a pig?! 🤣 21:52 It's an anti-material rifle (Barrett M82, .50 BMG) playing the role of a payload rifle (Cobra Assault Cannon). The Borderlands series pays homage to the Auto-9 and the Cobra Assault Cannon. 23:20 That was my favorite scene when I was an '80s kid in the '80s. I used to rewind it and watch it over and over again while cackling my head off like an insane clown of demented do0m. 🤣

"I'd buy that for a dollar!" Fun Fact: Nancy Allen first arrived on set when Paul Verhoeven was shooting the deliberately cheesy sitcom "It's Not My Problem" which appears on television screens throughout the film. Allen was initially horrified to think that she had signed on to make a film with an incompetent director. Movie Magic Fact: Most shots of Robocop and the police car show him getting out or preparing to get in. Peter Weller didn't fit into the police car in full costume. When he needed to be in the car, he wore the top part of the costume and sat in his underwear. To maintain the illusion that RoboCop wears the entire suit while inside a car, most shots show his robotic feet exiting first. Fast Thinking Fact: For the attempted rape scene, writer Edward Neumeier originally had RoboCop shoot past the victim's cheek, hitting and killing the rapist. While getting ready to shoot the scene as scripted, Paul Verhoeven noticed that Donna Keegan's legs were spread apart, giving him the idea to have RoboCop shoot between her legs and hit the rapist in the genitals. Neumeier loved the idea and that was how the scene was shot.

Copypasting what I said to another reactor just because it's relevant: "And here it is - my favorite movie of all time: a harsh socio-political satire masquerading as a goofy action film. Ed Neumier wrote and Verhoeven directed such brilliant depictions of an American future as shaped by what was already happening around them in the 80s. Make no mistake, it is not a coincidence that while there is a rival robot to fight, it is not the main villain. Instead, the villain is a multinational corporation dealing in military weaponry but acting as a friendly local company...remember, it's Omni CONSUMER Products. This movie was a harsh, stern commentary on the move towards privatization of the American police force and the extreme corporatization of the American military, two things that have sadly come to fruition in droves. The framing device of the news segments and ads were a response to the new 24-hour news cycle introduced in the 80s with channels like CNN, and the writer and director's worry that such constant news being owned by such massive corporations would only lead to skewed or dangerously-curated news meant to manipulate, which of course also came true as we all now know. Most of the police force knowing they're doing something wrong when they're instructed to kill Murphy after the battled with ED-209 but doing it anyway is probably influenced by Verhoeven himself who as a child grew up in The Hague during World War II and saw first-hand the atrocities of war and the ability of men wearing a uniform to follow orders blindly. One of the saddest moments that I only ever really thought about after rewatching this movie a million times, is just after Murphy kills Clarence Bodicker. Lewis says, "Murphy...I'm a mess." and Murphy responds, "They'll fix you. They fix everything." Initially we think "Good, Lewis doesn't die!!" before thinking harder and realizing that the kind of fixing OCP did to Murphy does not bode well for Lewis, and that indeed the power we've granted to these corporations means the game is and always will be fixed against us, and there is no fixing a mega corp can do that would ever be of benefit to us. Ultimately this is a movie about the fears of the little people in society losing control - even officers were reduced to just numbers and devices to be harvested for corporate use even after death while those same corporations incite violence and fund drug sales in our communities to undermine the property values so that they can gentrify and build their own "megacity" (Delta City) on the ashes of it. And finally the movie is one giant Ship of Theseus paradox - we see Murphy stripped of everything; body parts, memories, control, and we are left to ask what is a man when you remove everything from him? What is a soul? Do we have one? How do we keep it? The descent into robot with no control and his ascent back to reclaiming his humanity is beautiful to me. By the end we are cheering loudly for him to say what we want him to say when asked his name: Murphy, not Robocop."

I think you're good person like many on the earth who are following theirs feeling without even using analysis a short moment because it's heavy hard anyway maybe we love music and movies despite misunderstanding the messages and deep injuries invisible it means those feeling negative which we love came from inspiration from Satan's and few feeling positive which we hate certainly good for us and this is inspiration from Angeles and all both are under the order's of ALLAH that's why we sometimes have contradictions inside our self I know it's big test better than avoiding the truth ,living illusion and weisting time of our life and losing the heareafter BIG salam
